- On October 3, 2012, Shanelle became the temporary guardian of her younger sister Ariel Winter, following allegations of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of their mother. In her youth, Workman was removed from her mother's care after similar allegations. Shanelle was granted permanent custody after allegations were verified;On May 5, 2014, the court ordered permanent guardianship to Workman and removed Winter from her mother's guardianship permanently.

- In 2005, Shanelle opened a performing arts acting studio for all ages and it thrived to become one of Los Angeles and Atlanta's largest professional acting studio-first called Act 4 Reel and then Gray Studios when she got married. David Gray started teaching so Shanelle could raise the kids-Shanelle still ran the business. When they divorced they each opened their own competing Studios.
