Father of four children: Konstanze (b. 1954, with Jolande Frantz), Barbara Wussow (b. 1961, with Ida Krottendorf), Alexander Wussow (b. 1964, with Ida Krottendorf) and Benjamin Wussow (b. 1993, with Yvonne Viehöfer).

Also a writer, poet and painter.

Ensemble member at the famous Burgtheater in Vienna from 1964 to 1986.

Granted honorary citizenship of Austria.

Went to school with Heiner Müller.

Has three godchildren in Honduras, Mexico and the Philippines.

Founding member of "Fair Press" (1990) as a result of his bad experiences during the divorce from his second wife.

Returned the Bambi Award of the "Bunte" magazine he had received in 1985, because the magazine's reports about the battle over his divorce from Ida Krottendorf angered him.

Made his acting debut on stage at the Volksbühne in Schwerin (1947).
