- Father of four children: Konstanze (b. 1954, with Jolande Frantz), Barbara Wussow (b. 1961, with Ida Krottendorf), Alexander Wussow (b. 1964, with Ida Krottendorf) and Benjamin Wussow (b. 1993, with Yvonne Viehöfer).
- Also a writer, poet and painter.

- After becoming a soldier in the last days of World War II, he wanted to study medicine, but wasn't allowed to in the former East Germany.
- Has lived in a retiring home near Berlin since July 2006.
