As Lizz Winstead, a brave comic and activist, navigates the tricky landscape of reproductive rights, No One Asked You takes us into a world where laughter and dissent clash. In a society trying to figure out what is right and wrong, this documentary follows a political struggle and an existential quest.
As Winstead and her friends set out on the Magical Mystery Tour, a moving trip through states where access to abortion is masked in darkness, comedy becomes a weapon against systemic oppression in this case.
After the shock of Roe v. Wade, the film changes from what was originally planned as a series to a serious narrative. Winstead, co-founder of Abortion Access Front, uses her comedic skills as a call to action for justice to break down the shame around abortion.
Her goal goes beyond simple advocacy; it explores the essence of human autonomy, forcing us to confront what...

In the last seven years, there has been a positive glut of "Star Trek" introduced into the world. Just as the Upn launched with the debut of "Star Trek: Voyager in 1995," so did the new streaming service CBS All Access launch with the debut of "Star Trek: Discovery" in 2017. This was the first "Star Trek" TV series on the airwaves since the cancelation of "Star Trek: Enterprise" in 2005, and many Trekkies were eager to see if the franchise could be restarted. An entirely new creative team had taken over "Star Trek," and they sought to update the decades-old series for a streaming audience.
"Discovery," we would later learn, was only one of many "Star Trek" projects that would debut on CBS All Access — later renamed Paramount+ — over the next few years. To keep people subscribed, Paramount produced "Short Treks." As a hook for fans of "Star Trek: The Next Generation,...

Bob Hearts Abishola season 6 is not confirmed, as season 5 was announced as the series finale. 11 main Bob Hearts Abishola main cast members were downgraded to recurring in season 5, which didn't bode well for the sitcom's future. Co-creator Gina Yashere believes the cancelation speaks to TV studios' lack of commitment to diverse productions.
Bob Hearts Abishola season 6 is the hoped-for continuation of the CBS sitcom that finished its fifth season on May 6, 2024. Starring Billy Gardell, famous for leading the cast of Mike and Molly, and Folake Olowofoyeku of Transparent, Bob Hearts Abishola is about divorced sock company owner Bob Wheeler (Gardell) who falls head over heels in love with his nurse, Nigerian-born Abishola Bolatito Doyinsola Oluwatoyin (Olowofoyeku), after he suffers a stress-induced heart attack. Hulu has to be pretty pleased with its list of new releases for June 2024. That’s because it’s about to be the summer of The Bear once again.
The Bear season 3 premieres all of its episodes on June 27 on Hulu. This FX dramedy has proven to be one of the most successful shows of its era. Jeremy Allen White stars as Carmy Berzatto, a world-famous chef who returns home to Chicago to help his floundering family restaurant after the death of his brother. Season 2 saw The Original Beef of Chicagoland crew transform the spot into fine dining establishment The Bear. It ruled. So will season 3 probably.
FX is responsible for the other major TV release on Hulu this month. Clipped premieres on June 4 and is about the scandalous real life story of Donald Sterling, the awful owner of the basketball team the Los Angeles Clippers. Another intriguing TV option...

Spoiler Alert! This story contains details from the series finale of Bob ❤️ Abishola on CBS.
The multi-camera comedy about an American businessman who falls in love with a Nigerian nurse wrapped May 6 in much the same way it kicked off in 2019 — with lots of charm and affection served up by its affable stars Billy Gardell and Folake Olowofoyeku.
Here, co-creator/EP/co-star Gina Yashere and EP Matt Ross talk about what went into crafting their sentimental Bob ❤️ Abishola finale, the show’s legacy and whether they regret using a heart emoji in the title.
Deadline: Talk about the decision to employ a time jump in the finale. Why did you do it?
Gina Yashere: There were certain stories that we started in previous seasons, like in Season 4 we’d ended on a cliffhanger. Is Abishola going to go to Johns Hopkins? And then throughout Season 4, we never really touched on the subject again.

‘Succession’ has gone out with one final bang: The HBO drama won two Writers Guild of America Awards on Sunday night — the most of any series — for best drama series and also for best drama episode. Creator Jesse Armstrong was on hand in New York to accept the award, while several of the show’s writers were also in LA to accept the honor.
This reps the final major awards show where “Succession” (which ended its run last May) was still eligible. Besides best drama, the show also won the episodic drama prize, for the episode “Living+,” written by Georgia Pritchett and Will Arbery.
The WGA Awards recognized the best of 2023’s television and film via its annual event held this year at the Hollywood Palladium for the West Coast edition and at New York’s Edison Ballroom for the East Coast ceremony.
Big winners on the film side included “American Fiction” writer Cord Jefferson,...

A candid Gina Yashere was quick to explain who made the decision to end Bob ❤ Abishola after only five seasons – it was CBS, she exclaimed. But she also admitted the budget cuts made her treat the show’s supporting characters with even more respect in its final year.
As part of the cost-cutting move to secure a renewal for the Warner Bros comedy, the sitcom’s supporting cast was offered to continue as recurring with a five-episode guarantee. Only stars Billy Gardell and Folake Olowofoyeku had their series-regular options exercised to remain on the multi-camera comedy full time.
The comedy from executive producers Yashere, Chuck Lorre, Al Higgins and Matt Ross will still produce 13 episodes in its final season.
“The industry is in flux right now. The money that was there 10 years ago is here anymore,” Yashere told reporters Tuesday on the Warner Bros lot. “We made sure when we work with the characters,...
