His death was announced by UTA vice chairman Jay Sures in a memo to staffers obtained by Deadline.

Leibner began his agency career in the 1960s as co-founder, with Nate Bienstock, of the New York-based firm N.S. Bienstock, which was acquired by UTA in 2014. Leibner retired in 2021.

Investigation Discovery has renewed On the Case With Paula Zahn for its 25th season, which will debut on the true-crime channel Sept. 4 with the series’ 350th episode.

The newsmagazine, led by Emmy-winning journalist Zahn, “features riveting storytelling and original interviews that go beyond the headlines to reveal first-person accounts and expert insights of those connected to the cases, showcasing the full scope and impact of murder,” as described by the network.

Season 25 will premiere at 10 p.m. Et on Sept. 4, with new episodes available to stream the same day on discovery+.

Scott Sternberg Productions today announced the launch of a new documentary division and the acquisition of Strong Island Films.

The first project under Ssp’s new division, Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil: My Story, will premiere this Sunday on Reelz. Sternberg directed the documentary in which the lead singer of the legendary heavy metal band, in his own words, “details what led him to music, the formation and early days of Mötley Crüe, surviving his hardest party days and how he navigated the road to superstardom.” Neil and Sternberg are executive producers of the film.

The two-hour doc, featuring interviews with Neil’s son and daughter, as well as bandmates Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx, and others, takes an “incredibly candid” view of the musician’s “much publicized setbacks — from the heartbreak of losing a young child to being arrested for driving under the influence after causing a crash that killed his friend.

Elizabeth Vargas is headed to daytime TV.

The former ABC News anchor will host and executive produce a syndicated series, iCrime With Elizabeth Vargas, that’s set to premiere in September. The half-hour show has clearance in 95 percent of the country, with station groups including Nexstar, Gray Media Group, Scripps, Cox Media, Tegna, CBS Television Stations, Fox Television Stations and Weigel Broadcasting carrying the program.

iCrime will feature clips of crimes captured on witnesses’ smart phones along with interviews between Vargas and victims, law enforcement, and the videographers. A panel of experts will also offer their opinions on the footage.

ID and Discovery+ have unveiled their true crime slate for the 2022-23 upfront season, with four new TV series, including reboots of the classic podcasts Disappeared and Who The (Bleep) Did I Marry, six new specials, including the Armie Hammer-focused House of Hammer (wt), nine returning series, two new podcasts, Hot and Deadly and Deadliest Decade, and a new season of Mind of a Monster podcast which launches in July.

Bill Owens has been named executive producer of CBS’ venerable newsmagazine 60 Minutes, filling a role that has been vacant since September, when Jeff Fager, the longtime CBS News executive and Ep, was forced to step down amid allegations of inappropriate conduct at the network news division.

Owens had been executive editor since June 2008. His appointment was announced Wednesday by Susan Zirinsky, the incoming president and senior executive producer of CBS News.

Bill Owens was named just the third executive producer in the history of the venerable “60 Minutes,” capping off a period of uncertainty at the long-running newsmagazine and kicking off a new era at CBS News.

Owens has been serving as the leader of the program during an interim period, and his ascension to the top role comes as CBS News is about to get a new president, Susan Zirinsky. Owens has been the executive editor of the program, and CBS executives have been impressed with his handling of the show in the 2018-2019 season. Under Owens’ aegis, “60 Minutes” has placed an emphasis not only on deeply reported pieces but also on nabbing interviews with news-makers and politicians in the midst of breaking events.

Tanya Simon, a senior producer at “60 Minutes,” is expected to take on a new, elevated role at the program, according to a person familiar with the matter.

On Wednesday, October 17, Aftd (the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration) will host their annual Hope Rising Benefit at the Pierre Hotel, chaired by Donald Newhouse and co-chaired by Anna Wintour and David Zaslav.

At the dinner, Aftd will present Leonard A. Lauder with the Susan Newhouse & Si Newhouse Award of Hope to recognize his decades-long work in support of medical research. The event will feature musical performances from Hamilton original cast member Renee Elise Goldsberry and will be hosted by Paula Zahn.

Aftd works to spread awareness and raise funds for research into Ftd (frontotemporal degeneration), a debilitating form of dementia that is most common in people under 60. Now that Discovery Inc. owns more cable networks, it’s hoping to get advertisers to buy more of them.

The company, which completed its $11.9 billion acquisition of Scripps Networks in March, is offering advertisers a package of 30 of its best-known series, guaranteeing first position in ad breaks in premiere episode of the shows and better reach among women between 25 and 54 than some programs that air on broadcast rivals. Travel Channel has named veteran TV exec Jane Latman as General Manager, expanding her current role with Discovery. Latman now will be responsible for the creative leadership and programming strategy for the 83 million subscriber network.

Latman will remain in Silver Spring, MD and continue to serve as Evp, development and research for Investigation Discovery and American Heroes Channel and general manager of Destination America. She will continue to report to Henry Schleiff, Group President.

The move is part of the restructuring following the company’s acquisition of Scripps Networks Interactive, in which Travel Channel was added to Schleiff’s portfolio.

A 15-year veteran of programming and development at Discovery, Latman has been credited as the creative leader behind ID’srise from the #50 network a decade ago to the #1 network for W25-54, today.
