Jan van der Zanden graduated in cultural psychology and worked as a psychologist at the University of Amsterdam. After the foundation of Waterland Film in 1994, he followed international film financing at the Media Business School. In 2003 he was selected 'Producer on the Move' at the Cannes Film Festival. In January 2016 he founded with Ineke Kanters The Film Kitchen.
