The precise relationship between The New Batman Adventures (Tnba) and Batman: The Animated Series (Btas) is frequently a point of contention among viewers, who often disagree over its canonical status. At first glance, the two seem linked: both feature DC's Gothams Dark Knight, many of the same villains, and the same production team. However, significant differences in tone, animation style, and narrative focus have led to some questioning whether Tnba should be considered a true continuation of Btas or a completely separate animated Batman series.
Batman: The Animated Series first aired in 1992 on Fox Kids, running until 1995 with a total of 85 episodes. Praised for its dark tone, noir aesthetics, and sophisticated storytelling, Btas became one of the most celebrated animated series of all time. After a two-year break, The New Batman Adventures debuted in 1997 on The WB Network, featuring many of the same characters and voice actors but with updated...

My Adventures with Superman is one of the most brilliant superhero animated series. Created by Brendan Clougher, Jake Wyatt, and Josie Campbell, the Adult Swim series tells the story of Superman aka Clark Kent as he starts his new job at The Daily Planet, with his roommate Jimmy Olson, and his senior intern at The Daily Planet who is none other than Lois Lane. They quickly become a team and try to bring in big stories so that they can become real reporters while Clark also tries to become the hero he is meant to be. My Adventures with Superman has great action but the brilliant thing about the series is that it isn’t an action series about Superman, it’s a series about a superhero and his relationships as he figures out who he really is. So, if you love the heart, optimism, great story, and fantastic animation...

Home invasion has been a part of horror movies practically from the beginning. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), Nosferatu (1922), Dracula, and Frankenstein (1931) all included moments of attackers entering homes uninvited and terrorizing unsuspecting victims.
Home invasion as a sub-genre unto itself came a bit later, as the suburbs sprung up and a false sense of security rose in the United States along with fears of “the other” that have always been a key aspect of horror movies.
These ten movies may not all be the best of this sub-genre, but they all bring something different to the table and pushed it, in large and small ways, in new directions.
The Desperate Hours (1955)
It is practically impossible to pinpoint the exact moment that started any new genre or movement within film but a good candidate for the foundation of the home invasion movie is William Wyler’s The Desperate Hours. The...

Edd Byrnes, star of the 1950s and ’60s TV hit “77 Sunset Strip” who went on to co-star in the 1978 smash “Grease,” has died, the actor’s son, Logan Byrnes, confirmed Thursday via Facebook. He was 87.
Byrnes died at his home in Santa Monica, according to Logan Byrnes, who is a news anchor for Kusi-tv San Diego.
Byrnes became a comedic sensation as the co-star of the ABC detective drama “77 Sunset Strip,” starring Efrem Zimbalist Jr. as a hip L.A. private detective. After witnessing the likes of Justice League, Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Beware the Batman being granted Blu-ray releases, fans have probably wondered what’s been the holdup when it comes to Batman: The Animated Series getting the same treatment. Granted, those other shows are more recent and require less in the way of remastering, but that doesn’t change the fact that many of us have been waiting impatiently for such a thing to happen.
Fortunately, San Diego Comic-Con brought us confirmation that the series responsible for first introducing us to Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill’s respective versions of Batman and the Joker will, in fact, be coming to Blu-ray on October 16th.
To start you off, here’s what to expect from the Deluxe Limited Edition that’ll be restricted to 30,000 copies:

Is this a genuine classic? I think so. Sure, it’s the old story of the blind girl in jeopardy, but it’s been worked out so well. Audrey Hepburn, Alan Arkin, Richard Crenna and Jack Weston shine in a keen adaptation of Frederick Knott’s play, which could be titled, Dial C for Can’t See Nuthin’.

The Dark Knight was not the first great Batman movie.
Neither was Batman Begins – in fact, years before Warner Bros. brought Christopher Nolan in to revive their marquee franchise, another group of talented film-makers delivered what is still, to many, the definitive on-screen version of the character.
And if you’re a fan of the character and haven’t seen Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, you should be ashamed of yourself.
Right now seems an ideal time to bring this topic up, as Batman: The Animated Series just celebrated its 20th anniversary (completely unmarked – for Shame Warner Bros.) on the 5th of this month. And this show deserves serious recognition. Desperate for a quick kid-targeted cartoon to support their Batman brand in-between movies, WB landed on animation vets Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski to run the new show, and gave them a surprising amount of creative freedom to go with an enviable budget.

Five theaters are going at once and the only repeats are the award winning movies. It’s hard to pick while going through the schedule. I’ve yet to hear anyone complain about the movie they saw so much as wishing they could have seen two or three of the other ones that were showing concurrently. This is the best festival for documentary film viewers. The 2010 edition kept up the lofty standards with films about basketball, pork, pastries, scoundrels, nomads and undiscovered superstars.

Warner Bros. is digging deep into the classic TV archives to get a hold of the series 77 Sunset Strip. According to Deadline, the studio hired Greg Berlanti, who.s busy prompting his new film, Life As we Know It, at ShoWest, to direct. He.ll also produce alongside author A. Scott Berg and Kevin McCormick via Langley Park. Stephen Chin is being courted to pen the script. 77 Sunset Strip is way beyond my years, but Wikipedia informs me it was a private detective series that ran from 1958 to 1964. Efrem Zimbalist Jr. starred as Stuart Bailey, one of two L.A. detectives, who were formerly government secret agents. His partner, Jeff Spencer, was played by Roger Smith. Together the duo worked as private eyes out of an office at 77 Sunset Strip. When not hard at work, they could be found at Dino.s, a swinging posh lounge and a prime source...

Warner Bros is dusting off its classic TV series 77 Sunset Strip, and turning it into a hip period feature. The film will be directed by Greg Berlanti, the Green Lantern writer who is previewing part of his new film, Life As We Know It, at ShoWest. Stephen Chin is in talks to write the script. Berlanti will produce with author A. Scott Berg and Kevin McCormick, through the latter’s Warner-based Langley Park shingle. The series ran from 1958-1964 and personified cool, from the catchy theme song to the ruggedly handsome detectives -- played by Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and Roger Smith. They [...]...

"77 Sunset Strip" was a television show that ran from 1958 until 1964 about a pair of womanizing, wisecracking L.A. detectives based on a series of novels and short stories written by Roy Huggins. It starred Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and Roger Smith. If that means nothing to you, don't feel too bad. I'd never heard of it, either.
That doesn't change the fact, however, that Warner Brothers and Laurence Mark Productions are adapting the series for the big screen. It's not unusual, of course, to adapt a television show into a movie, but one generally does it because the television series carries a certain brand cachet. I'm not sure how much of a built-in audience there is for "77 Sunset Strip," or at least a built in audience under the age of 60.
Still, perhaps there's some interesting dynamic between the wisecracking L.A. detectives, or a conceit within the show that makes it...
