The precise relationship between The New Batman Adventures (Tnba) and Batman: The Animated Series (Btas) is frequently a point of contention among viewers, who often disagree over its canonical status. Robert Logan, who succeeded Edd “Kookie” Byrnes as the valet parking attendant on the famed ABC detective show 77 Sunset Strip and starred as the dad in a series of return-to-nature adventure movies, has died. He was 82.

Logan died May 6 of natural causes in Estero, Florida, his son, Anthony Logan, told The Hollywood Reporter. His family chose to wait until this week to announce his death.

Home invasion has been a part of horror movies practically from the beginning. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), Nosferatu (1922), Dracula, and Frankenstein (1931) all included moments of attackers entering homes uninvited and terrorizing unsuspecting victims.

Home invasion as a sub-genre unto itself came a bit later, as the suburbs sprung up and a false sense of security rose in the United States along with fears of “the other” that have always been a key aspect of horror movies.

Lynn Loring, who appeared as a young actress on Search for Tomorrow, The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis and The F.B.I. before becoming one of the highest-ranking female executives in Hollywood at the time, has died. She was 80.

Loring died Dec. 23 at Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center after a series of chronic illnesses, her son, Chris Thinnes, told The Hollywood Reporter. Her family chose not to make public her death until now.

Loring also acted in a few movies, including Elia Kazan’s Splendor in the Grass (1961), Pressure Point (1962) and, alongside then-husband Roy Thinnes, Journey to the Far Side of the Sun (1969).

William Reynolds, who portrayed crime-stopping Special Agent Tom Colby opposite Efrem Zimbalist Jr. on the final seven seasons of the ABC crime drama The F.B.I., has died. He was 90.

Reynolds died Wednesday in Wildomar, California, from non-covid 19 complicated pneumonia, a family spokesperson announced.

The Los Angeles native also starred in three other series, all short-lived: as the trumpet player on the 1959 NBC drama Pete Kelly’s Blues, created by Jack Webb; on ABC’s The Islanders, a 1960-61 adventure show set in the East Indies; and on the World War II-set The Gallant Men, which ran on ABC from 1962-63.

In 1960, Reynolds memorably played a WWII officer who can’t ignore an ominous light on the faces of his men destined to be killed in the acclaimed Twilight Zone season-one episode “The Purple Testament.”

Erin O’Brien, the singer and actress best known for starring in the pilot episode of “77 Sunset Strip,” has died at the age of 87.

Sheila O’Brien, Erin’s sister, told The Hollywood Reporter that she died at her home in Seattle on May 20.

O’Brien starred in the first episode of Roy Huggins’ detective series “77 Sunset Strip,” titled “Girl on the Run,” as a lounge singer who becomes witness to a murder. The episode, which introduced Efrem Zimbalist Jr. as one of the show’s two main detective characters, Stuart Bailey, aired on ABC in 1958.

O’Brien’s TV singing career included “Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts,” “The Frank Sinatra Show” and “The Steve Allen Show.” Her album, “Songs From the Heart of Erin O’Brien” was released by Coral Records in 1958.

Her acting credits include “Onionhead,” “Sugarfoot,” “Colt .45” and “The Asphalt Jungle.”

A new Batman animated series has been ordered at HBO Max and Cartoon Network, with “Batman: The Animated Series” co-creator Bruce Timm attached as an executive producer.

“Batman: Caped Crusader” will be executive produced by Timm along with J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves. It will be produced by Warner Bros. Animation (Wba), Bad Robot Productions, and 6th & Idaho.

“We are beyond excited to be working together to bring this character back, to tell engrossing new stories in Gotham City,” the trio said. “The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world.”

“Batman: The Animated Series” aired on Fox Kids from 1992-1995 for a total of 85 episodes. Kevin Conroy voiced the Dark Knight in the series, which is one of the most highly-regarded entries in the DC onscreen portfolio thus far.

Henry Darrow, the first Hispanic actor to portray Zorro on television who also starred in TV series “The High Chaparral,” has died. He was 87.

According to his former publicist, Michael B. Druxman, Darrow died Sunday at his home in Wilmington, N.C.

Throughout the 60s, Darrow appeared in television series such as “Wagon Train,” “Bonanza,” “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea,” “Gunsmoke” and “Daniel Boone.” Additionally, he appeared in the first season of “Harry O” and won a daytime Emmy for his role on the soap opera “Santa Barbara.”

Edd Byrnes, star of the 1950s and ’60s TV hit “77 Sunset Strip” who went on to co-star in the 1978 smash “Grease,” has died, the actor’s son, Logan Byrnes, confirmed Thursday via Facebook. He was 87.

Byrnes died at his home in Santa Monica, according to Logan Byrnes, who is a news anchor for Kusi-tv San Diego.

Byrnes became a comedic sensation as the co-star of the ABC detective drama “77 Sunset Strip,” starring Efrem Zimbalist Jr. as a hip L.A. private detective. Byrnes played Kookie, the parking lot attendant with a habit of running his comb through his slick hair. His character, Gerald Kookson III, introduced a host of early ’60s slang into mainstream primetime culture.

The series was among a slew of slick action-dramas that the fledgling Warner Bros. Television division produced for the Big Three networks in the late 1950s and early ’60s.

After witnessing the likes of Justice League, Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Beware the Batman being granted Blu-ray releases, fans have probably wondered what’s been the holdup when it comes to Batman: The Animated Series getting the same treatment. Well this is kinda neat. Oscar-winning actor Ralph Fiennes has signed on to voice Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's loyal butler, in the "Lego Batman" movie at Warner Bros. Pictures.

The spin-off to last year's successful "The Lego Movie" sees Will Arnett reprising his role as the Caped Crusader. This time he's joined by Michael Cera as Robin, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl and Zach Galifianakis as The Joker.

Chris McKay directs from a script by Seth Grahame-Smith. Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are producing.

The role is a distinguished one with actors such as Michael Caine, Michael Gough, Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and Alan Napier having portrayed it in the past. Currently Sean Pertwee plays him on Fox's "Gotham," while Jeremy Irons will take on the role in next year's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice".

Efrem Zimbalist Jr., the son of a violin master and an opera singer who became an acclaimed actor, has died at age 95. Zimbalist had a recurring role in the 1950s hit TV series Maverick before starring with Roger Smith as private eyes in the smash hit 1958 series 77 Sunset Strip. However, it was in the 1960s that his star really rose by top-lining the TV show The F.B.I. The series was a love letter to the bureau and won praise from its controversial and mercurial director, J. Edgar Hoover, who gave unprecedented cooperation to the series. The Dark Knight was not the first great Batman movie.

Neither was Batman Begins – in fact, years before Warner Bros. brought Christopher Nolan in to revive their marquee franchise, another group of talented film-makers delivered what is still, to many, the definitive on-screen version of the character.

And if you’re a fan of the character and haven’t seen Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Right now seems an ideal time to bring this topic up, as Batman: The Animated Series just celebrated its 20th anniversary (completely unmarked – for Shame Warner Bros.) on the 5th of this month. And this show deserves serious recognition. Desperate for a quick kid-targeted cartoon to support their Batman brand in-between movies, WB landed on animation vets Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski to run the new show, and gave them a surprising amount of creative freedom to go with an enviable budget.

Prince Valiant began as a Sunday comic strip in 1937, created by legendary artist Hal Foster. In 1991, the Family Channel began airing The Legend of Prince Valiant, an animated series based on the strip.

The TV show tells the story of an exiled prince who is on a quest to become one of the Knights of the Round Table. As they travel to Camelot, brave Prince Valiant, feisty Rowanne, and woodsman Arn bond in their common desire to defeat practitioners of evil during their treacherous journey. The strong moral center of the series earned The Legend of Prince Valiant the Humanitas Award in 1993 and three Silver Angel awards.

Durham - Once more The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival is a four day film festival that plays like it should last a week They show so many films that it’s impossible to even come close to seeing them all. Five theaters are going at once and the only repeats are the award winning movies. It’s hard to pick while going through the schedule. I’ve yet to hear anyone complain about the movie they saw so much as wishing they could have seen two or three of the other ones that were showing concurrently. This is the best festival for documentary film viewers. The 2010 edition kept up the lofty standards with films about basketball, pork, pastries, scoundrels, nomads and undiscovered superstars.

"77 Sunset Strip" was a television show that ran from 1958 until 1964 about a pair of womanizing, wisecracking L.A. detectives based on a series of novels and short stories written by Roy Huggins. It starred Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and Roger Smith. If that means nothing to you, don't feel too bad. I'd never heard of it, either.

That doesn't change the fact, however, that Warner Brothers and Laurence Mark Productions are adapting the series for the big screen. It's not unusual, of course, to adapt a television show into a movie, but one generally does it because the television series carries a certain brand cachet. I'm not sure how much of a built-in audience there is for "77 Sunset Strip," or at least a built in audience under the age of 60.

Jeannine Cosden, an actress turned talent agent, died Jan. 1 in Ojai, Calif., after suffering a stroke on Christmas Eve. She was 79.

As Jeannine Ann Cole, she performed onstage with Efrem Zimbalist Jr. in "The Pleasure of His Company," Bob Cummings in "The Marriage Go Round," Ken Berry and Ed Ames in "I Do, I Do," "California Suite" with Tom Poston, "The Max Factor" with Cesar Romero and "Showboat" with Forrest Tucker.
