Wang Chung, Men Without Hats, The Motels, and Naked Eyes are teaming up for a 2024 tour dubbed “Abducted by the ’80s.”

Featuring a rotating lineup, the time machine trek kicks off in Kyle, Texas on May 17th and will stop in cities like St. Louis, Louisville, and Jacksonville before wrapping up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on June 23rd. See the schedule below.

The “Abducted by the ’80s” setlist will feature beloved cuts from all four acts, including “Dance Hall Days,” “The Safety Dance,” “Only the Lonely,” and “Always Something There to Remind Me.

For a movie in which the world could end at any moment, “Bill & Ted Face the Music” is awfully sweet and cheery.

And for that, we have to thank Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted “Theodore” Logan, who 30 years ago were the sweetest and cheeriest of teen heroes and are now hanging onto that into middle age. They’re not the smartest of heroes, of course, but they know what works for them: As Ted says at one point in this movie, “Maybe we should always not know what we’re doing!”

But “Bill & Ted Face the Music” does know what it’s doing, which is to preserve the essence of the characters played by Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves even as it dumps a most unpleasant midlife crisis and an even more heinous threat to reality as we know on their still-shaggy heads.

Eddie Money, a major hitmaker of the '70s and '80s, always looked like he was having fun.

Eddie Money, the singer, songwriter and saxophonist best known for radio-friendly hit songs like “Baby Hold On,” and “Two Tickets to Paradise,” died from complications from cancer on Friday, Sept. 13, according to Variety. He was 70.

"The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning," his family announced in a statement. "It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.”

FX Network’s “American Horror Story” returns for a ninth season next month, and promos for the next chapter of the anticipated series, dubbed ‘Ahs 1984,’ have been airing frequently across cable television throughout August. In the short yet effective spot (see below), the Motels’ melancholic, moody “Suddenly Last Summer” plays as aerial footage of an idyllic summer camp scene from the 1980s at fictional ‘Camp Redwood’ plays out, until things take a darker turn, quickly.

“The slightly haunting vibe of the song, and the connotation of the unexpected implied by the lyric, made it a perfect fit for the campaign,” Carol Weiler an Evp at FX Network, tells Variety.

The song’s publisher echoes the sentiment.

The City of Los Angeles has declared that June 16 will be Buster Keaton Day in honor of the pioneering comedian and filmmaker.

A bronze plaque commemorating the location of a movie studio where both Keaton and Charlie Chaplin created their timeless comedies in the early part of the 20th Century will be dedicated at 4 p.m. on June 16 at 1021 Lillian Ave., near the intersection of Eleanor Avenue and Lillian Way in Los Angeles. The dedication and and several other events have been organized by the International Buster Keaton Society to remedy the incorrect placement of a similar plaque in 1988.

Wild Honey Orchestra: Buffalo  Springfield tribute Alex Theatre, Glendale CA February 17, 2018

The Wild Honey Foundation started putting on themed benefit concerts a quarter century ago and was revived a few years back, now benefitting the Autism Think Tank. A collection of superb Los Angeles-based musicians with extensive résumés comes together, led by guitarist Rob Laufer (Johnny Cash, George Martin, Cheap Trick, etc.) as The Wild Honey Orchestra to back special guest stars (many, but not all, also L.A.-based) and augment existing bands, this year performing songs of Buffalo Springfield, the band that shot Stephen Stills, Neil Young, and Richie Furay (Poco, Souther-Hillman-Furay Band) -- along with bassist Bruce Palmer (later Jim Messina) and drummer Dewey Martin -- to fame in the late '60s.

Thanks to my Wild Honey pal Michael Ackerman, I got to attend both the show and two rehearsals, which even after decades of listening...

Back at the beginning of July in the daily Briefs, I started the Official snicks Top 100 Lost Hits of The 80's, spotlighting the 100 greatest minor hits of that decade. The songs you don't hear on any 80's nostalgia show. Songs that missed the top ten, or top twenty ... or top forty, and over the last five months I hope some of these forgotten gems may have rung a long dormant bell, or for younger readers, provided a pop music history lesson.
