Toby Keith, a country music superstar and Songwriters Hall of Famer, died Monday after a three-year battle with stomach cancer. He was 62.

His family announced his death in a post on Instagram: “Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time.”

Born Toby Keith Covel on July 8, 1961, in Clinton, Ok, Keith amassed three dozen Top 10 hits on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart from 1993-2011, 20 of which hit No. 1. Eleven of his singles went platinum and 10 more went gold. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015.

Tracy Tormé’s work and contributions within the sci-fi genre made him famous to fans. As per his sister (via The Hollywood Reporter), he “always interested in UFOs — the serious side of UFOs — and in the Air Force pilots who had seen them.” While he only wrote for two seasons on The Next Generation – also serving as story editor – his touch undoubtedly gave the series the thrust it needed to set the tone for the remainder of the series. The greatest success of his career, however, may be Sliders, which he co-created with Robert K. Weiss. Tracy Tormé, a UFO expert and son of stylish crooner Mel Tormé who co-created the 1990s series Sliders and was hand-picked by Gene Roddenberry to serve as the head writer on Star Trek: The Next Generation, has died. He was 64.

Tormé died Thursday of complications from diabetes in Escondido, California, his sister and brother, actress Daisy Tormé (Superman & Lois) and recording artist James Tormé, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Tormé also was a writer on Saturday Night Live during its eighth season (1982-83); wrote and produced with Travis Walton the fantasy drama film Fire in the Sky (1993), starring D.B. Sweeney and Robert Patrick; and was a consultant on the acclaimed Robert Zemeckis sci-fi drama Contact (1997).

The ‘Pulp Fiction’ star John Travolta spent quality time with his kids for the holidays. The actor recently shared a video montage on Instagram with his two children, Ella Bleu and Benjamin.

The clip was set to Travolta’s recording of ‘Come Rain or Come Shine’, and began with his daughter spinning around in a dimly lit room with a Christmas tree and decorations visible in the background, reports People magazine.

“Happy New Year!! Thank you for always being there for us! Love John Ella and Ben,” he captioned the upload. Elsewhere in the video, Ella posed with her dad and her little brother.

In the snapshot with Ben, they both smiled as they held their arms up in front of a Christmas tree. A final photo showed the youngest sitting on his father’s lap, cuddled up as they rode on an aeroplane.

The Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI) is celebrating the cinematic contributions of Oscar winner Alexander Payne, including his latest film, “The Holdovers.”

Travolta was cast in Ryan Murphy’s hit FX television series People vs. O.J. Simpson. The American Crime story was a dramatic retelling of the O.J. Simpson trial with Sarah Paulson and Cuba Gooding Jr. as the titular figure. Travolta would portray American attorney Robert Shapiro in the mini-series.

The series’ creator Ryan Murphy wanted to use inspired casting for his show, which landed him Travolta. The pair would eventually meet to discuss the show.

“I was trying to do the unexpected piece of casting,” Murphy recalled in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Over the course of a film career that stretches back 50 years, Charles Band has produced nearly 400 projects and directed several dozen – and in his memoir Confessions of a Puppetmaster (pick up a copy Here), he says that one of the movies fans mention to him the most is the 1983 sci-fi film Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn… which happens to have fun connections to both Jaws 3-D and the sitcom Night Court.

John Travolta posted a video on Instagram to honor his late wife, Kelly Preston, for Mother’s Day.

The video shows Preston opening a box with “Mom” spelled out on top of it, holding it up and posing for the camera. With a brief glimpse inside the box, it looks to have contained a family picture with flower decorations around it.

“Happy Mother’s Day Kelly. We miss you and love you! Love, Ben, Ella, and John,” the caption reads.

Preston died almost three years ago in July after battling breast cancer for two years. She kept her diagnosis private and shocked many at the announcement of her death.

Scientology has long been a source of intrigue and controversy in the media.

Though categorised as a cult in Germany, the Church of Scientology is considered a religion by others and has generated headlines about teachings that many deem restrictive.

This, however, hasn’t stopped several Hollywood actors from advocating for the religion.

As many pay tribute after the star’s death, the controversial Church of Scientology is memorializing Kirstie Alley, who was a member of the organization for many years.

Alley was raised Methodist but decided to try Scientology in 1979 to help with cocaine addiction. Over several decades, the actress reached Operating Thetan Level VIII, the highest spiritual status in the church which requires going to some extreme lengths to achieve, including high monetary costs and intense counseling and interrogations.
