Boston Blue spoilers and updates reveal Blue Bloods fans are asking if Tom Selleck will reprise his role as Frank Reagan on the upcoming spinoff, Boston Blue.
Let’s see what an inside source had to say about the idea of Frank, and other Blue Bloods characters making an appearance.
Donnie Walhburg Reprises His Role As Danny Reagan, But In Boston Instead Of New York
Boston Blue was initially conceived as a standalone series-however, it underwent a transformation into a spin-off of Blue Bloods, centering on the character of Danny Reagan. This shift means that Donnie Wahlberg will reprise the role he first brought to life in 2010.
This development has sparked curiosity among fans about the potential return of other cast members from the original show, many eager to see Tom Selleck, who portrayed the family patriarch, Frank Reagan.

Blue Bloods may be offer, but the lives of the characters are not. CBS recently announced plans for a spinoff titled Boston Bloods, which will follow Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) as he relocates to the City on a Hill. It's very exciting news, but it was not an easy conclusion to arrive at for the network.
Deadline broke news of the spinoff, and additionally revealed the plans that didn't make the cut. CBS wanted to make sure they put their best foot forward when it came to extending Blue Bloods as a TV brand, so they cycled through different versions of what a spinoff could look like. One of them had a different Reagan, Frank, at the helm.
Danny's father, played by Tom Selleck, was originally pitched as the star of a spinoff series. There are no additional details provided by Deadline, but the notion of Selleck's character taking the reins is an intriguing one,...

A Blue Bloods spinoff is in the works, but it won’t be what most fans hoped for.
No offshoot of Blue Bloods could come close. Most of what’s on our wish list is basically another season of the original, and CBS already nixed that idea.
Still, there is some cause for hope with Boston Blue, the new spinoff coming next year, even if there are also some serious continuity issues.

Danny was never my favorite character. That will forever and always be Jamie. That said, I’m thrilled that Donnie Wahlberg has signed on to the new Blue Bloods spinoff.
Wahlberg is second only to Tom Selleck in his passion for the original show. He fought hard for it to remain on the air and expressed regret that he couldn’t do that for the fans.

Blue Bloods had a slow, and for some, agonizing march toward cancelation. The CBS drama was allowed to fashion a finale episode, but the stars made it clear that they didn't want to say goodbye, and wished to continue telling stories within the Blue Bloods universe.
Well, after months of speculation and hand wringing, their hopes have come true. Blue Bloods will officially get a CBS spinoff that will pick up where the flagship show left off. Deadline confirmed that the spinoff will be titled Boston Bloods, and take place within the eponymous city.

Blue Bloods ended in December after 14 seasons and 292 episodes, but CBS is already preparing a spinoff series. The network has given Boston Blue a straight-to-series order, with Donnie Wahlberg returning as Danny Reagan.
CBS is calling this spinoff a “universe expansion” of Blue Bloods. The new series will premiere in the 2025-26 season and will “follow Danny as he leaves New York and takes a position with the Boston police — where he’s partnered with Detective Lena Peters, the daughter of a prominent law enforcement family in the city.” Boston Blue comes from a different creative team, with Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis serving as showrunners. The pair will also executive produce alongside Jerry Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Reed, and Donnie Wahlberg.

Blue Bloods fans have reason to celebrate on this fine Tuesday afternoon.
After months of rumblings, a spinoff of the Tom Selleck-fronted procedural is a go.
CBS confirmed the news that the franchise would expand, and the first details are interesting, to say the least.

The series is titled Boston Blue, which, as you’ve probably gathered, means we’ll be leaving New York behind.

“Once in Boston, he is paired with detective Lena Peters, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family,” the logline teases.
Beyond that, all we know is that Boston Blue has nabbed a straight-to-series order and will premiere sometime in the 2025-2026 TV season.

It’s not hard to argue that – among Hollywood icons – Harrison Ford sits pretty close to the top of the list. First blasting onto the scene as the coolest sci-fi character of all time, Han Solo, in Star Wars, throughout his career, no actor has ever been as good at inhabiting larger-than-life characters. If he’d only played Han, his place in the pantheon of actors would be guaranteed, but in the middle of his run, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg also hired him to play Indiana Jones (as a last-minute replacement for Tom Selleck), giving him another iconic character under his belt, who – perhaps – is an even bigger pop culture icon than Han.
Throughout the eighties and nineties no one had a better run than Ford, with him alternating acclaimed dramas like Witness, The Mosquito Coast, Presumed Innocent, and more with his blockbuster fare. In 1992, he was tapped to...

Casting for a television series is considerably different than casting for a film or a stage play in that it's about more than just finding the right ensemble for right now; creators need to consider each actor's capacity for maturing and/or evolving in their role, as well as their ability to work and play well with others. You might be able to get away with casting a bit of a malcontent on a movie (though most directors I've spoken to sternly discourage this line of thinking), but if someone's even just a tad contentious during the casting process, they could make everyone's life miserable over the long haul, and that's just not worth it.
Obviously, creators and casting directors try like hell to get it right the first time through, but compromise is always necessary. Sometimes your first choice suddenly becomes unavailable, sometimes they want too much money and...

When Indiana Jones 5 was revealed to be in the works, fans of the franchise had some high expectations from the film. After all, it was the Logan director James Mangold who was directing and Harrison Ford was to return as his fan-favorite character of the globe-trotting archeologist and college professor, Indiana Jones. However, as we all know the film couldn’t have been more worse and left a bad taste among fans.

Actor Tom Selleck recently finished his long stint as Commissioner Frank Reagan on the hit police procedural series Blue Bloods. However, he is also known for playing Thomas Magnum in the 1980s crime-drama series Magnum, P.I. The series caused Selleck to turn down the Indiana Jones franchise despite being the first choice for the title role.

The actor recalled having just shot the pilot for the crime-drama series that turned him into a household name, which had him turn down the movie. Tom Selleck in Magnum P.I. is pure TV gold — smooth, stylish, and rocking that mustache like a boss. But believe it or not, the show was almost unwatchable before it even hit the screen. The original script was a total dumpster fire. So bad that Selleck didn’t just raise an eyebrow; he went to war with the studio to fix it.

The Red Hulk is finally set to make his big screen debut with Harrison Ford in Captain America: Brave New World. Ford replaced the late William Hurt in the MCU and will be making his debut in the franchise. His Red Hulk has already gone viral along with his own nonchalance at the prospect of him being a CGI monster.
Now that there are three Hulks in the MCU, fans have obviously wanted to know who would win a battle. The biggest clash is between Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Ford’s latest Red Hulk. While fans have no doubt been theorizing, the Air Force One star compared the question to a popular Star Wars debate and dismissed it.

With less than three weeks left until the release of Harrison Ford’s Captain America: Brave New World, the film is currently in a political mess. For the longest time, fans have drawn comparisons between Ford’s President Thaddeus Ross and Donald Trump. Ford and Trump don’t see eye to eye and many Republican fans believed the character of Red Hulk to be a mockery of Trump.

Whatever praise we have for Harrison Ford is simply not enough. There are really no words that can describe the level of talent the man has. After all, he is both Indiana Jones and Han Solo! Harrison Ford has a variety of iconic roles in his portfolio but it goes without saying that the fedora-wearing globetrotter will always stand out from the rest. It all began with Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981 and since then, the legacy has only become more and more valuable with time.

CBS' decision to cancel Blue Bloods might have been because of its best asset. The Tom Selleck-led police and family drama was one of CBS' highest-rated dramas for fourteen years, including its final season. Over 11 million people watched the Blue Bloods series finale, which was an impressive number considering the show's age and timeslot. The series ended with the final Blue Bloods Reagan family dinner, demonstrating how important this aspect of the series was.
Although there was a massive fan-led movement to save Blue Bloods, CBS stood firm by its decision to cancel the long-running police procedural. The network's reasons for doing so were mostly financial, as Blue Bloods was more expensive to produce than other shows. There were a variety of reasons for the expense, including that the series was filmed in New York and that it had a large cast that remained with the show for all fourteen seasons.

That season’s top 10 highest-rated shows included a few other thirtysomething leads in Tom Selleck on Magnum, P.I. and John Ritter in Three’s Company, but for the most part, the hits of the small screen were built around actors in their fifties (Larry Hagman on Dallas, George Peppard on The A-Team) or sixties (John Forsythe in Dynasty, Jane Wyman in Falcon Crest). I Still Can’t Believe “Blue Bloods” Was Canceled Despite Being One of the Most-Watched Series on CBS
CBS’ police procedural drama Blue Bloods was one of the most-watched series on network TV. The Tom Selleck-led drama centered on the Reagans, a family who has a great number of members working for law enforcement. The show ran for 14 seasons and had incredible viewership numbers despite its time slot.
The series was unceremoniously canceled ahead of its fourteenth season with Swat replacing its time slot. Everyone from critics, the fans, and the actors themselves campaigned hard to get the series back on again but CBS did not budge. Despite so much demand, I still cannot figure out why the network canceled the series.

Kevin Costner Yellowstone Betrayal ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Yellowstone wrapped up just a few weeks back with the release of the final episode of season five. The neo-western show was massively successful and loved, but things behind the scenes weren’t as smooth. According to reports, Kevin Costner, the star of the series, left the show in the fifth season due to issues with Taylor Sheridan, the creator and showrunner of the series.
The veteran actor may have put the Paramount+ show behind him, but he is not happy about how his co-stars behaved regarding the issue. According to a new report, he is hurt by how Cole Hauser, who played Rip Wheeler, and Kelly Reilly, who portrayed Beth Dutton, acted. Here’s what we know about it.

Tom Selleck has big plans for Jesse Stone's future - but the tenth movie should wrap up the series. With Blue Bloods ending there is talk of Jesse Stone returning, with the most recent entry being 2015's Lost in Paradise. Selleck has fronted nine Jesse Stone movies thus far, and while he had planned to juggle the franchise with his Blue Bloods commitments, it didn't work out that way. With his schedule clearing up, Selleck has confirmed his interest in a Jesse return, also telling TV Insider that part ten "... wouldn’t be a final one because everybody loves it."
One issue with the next entry is that it's been a decade since Lost in Paradise. The passage of time means the next Jesse Stone can't just pick up from ongoing plot threads like previous sequels did, so the time gap will need to be addressed. It may also...

CBS had its reasons for canceling Blue Bloods even though it was one of the network's highest-rated dramas, so its viewership wasn't enough to change the network's mind. The Tom Selleck-led cop and family drama was one of CBS' most popular shows during its final season. Unfortunately, CBS stuck to its disappointing decision to cancel Blue Bloods, with the series airing its final episode on December 13, 2024. As of right now, the network plans to air Swat in Blue Bloods' place.
The decision to air Swat is particularly aggravating because it got a reprieve from cancelation twice despite substantially lower ratings than Blue Bloods. Additionally, Blue Bloods' cancelation was strongly opposed both by fans and cast members, with Donnie Wahlberg and Tom Selleck being particularly outspoken about how much they hoped CBS would reverse its decision. Thus, while CBS had solid reasons for its decision, understanding them is cold comfort...

The "NCIS" franchise has said goodbye to some beloved shows in recent years. In 2023, "NCIS: Los Angeles" ended after 14 seasons and 322 episodes, which is a great run for any TV show. Unfortunately, "NCIS: Hawaii" didn't experience the same longevity, as it was sent to the chopping block after three seasons in 2024. What's more, it never got the chance to deliver an all-time great series finale as no one expected it to be canceled, so it bowed out with a frustrating cliffhanger. So, why did CBS decide to cancel the series?
As documented by Variety, CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach revealed that "NCIS: Hawaii" was canceled for a variety of reasons, with factors such as the Hollywood SAG-AFTRA strike and a desire to freshen things up among them. Here's what she had to say:
"Everything came back [from the Hollywood strikes] really strong, but ultimately we have to look at the cohesiveness of the schedule flow.

Blue Bloods already ended, but it already has the perfect replacement with a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Coming into the new TV cycle, CBS went through a series of cancelations that included even some of its most beloved shows, resulting in So Help Me Todd, NCIS: Hawai'i, and CSI: Vegas getting axed. Prior to those announcements, however, the network already decided to pull the plug on one of its longest-running shows fronted by the Raegan family. Blue Bloods' cancelation remains controversial, with both fans and the people directly involved in the series coming out to oppose the move.
Premiering in 2011, Blue Bloods was no regular cop show. Aside from its procedural aspect, which is already a tried and tested successful TV formula, it puts a family of public servants at the center of its narrative. Blue Bloods also boasts a stacked cast, spearheaded by Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, and Bridget Moynahan.

Blue Bloods spoilers and updates tease even though the main show has come to an end, there have been spinoffs discussed. Here’s everything we know about the rumors so far-which do have some basis in fact!
Blue Bloods Spoilers – Spinoff Or TV Movie?
There have been talks about a possible spinoff or TV movie related to Blue Bloods, even though the series has concluded.
Many cast members and fans are eager to see the beloved procedural continue, but CBS has firmly decided to wrap up the show after 14 successful seasons. However, this doesn’t mean the network isn’t exploring ways to extend the franchise.
In June, during a stockholders meeting, Paramount Global co-ceo Brian Robbins hinted at “new franchise extensions” for Blue Bloods, marking the first mention of any new series set in that universe.

Tom Selleck knows there’s a danger to playing the same character for so long and has taken the best precautions to make sure saying goodbye to playing Frank Reagan wouldn’t be like saying goodbye to a huge piece of himself.
After 14 fantastic seasons, the show has finally ended, and it’s truly a bittersweet moment for fans and the show’s cast and crew alike. But maybe no one’s felt the loss quite so acutely as the show’s main man Tom Selleck.
Tom Selleck – Says Nobody Wanted ‘Blue Bloods’ To End
Tom Selleck’s long-held role on the original ‘Magnum P.I.’ has taught him a thing or two about not getting too attached to a character, but that wasn’t enough to save him from the pain that showed up once the show was approaching its end after over a decade of thrilling drama and suspense.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for the Blue Bloods series finale. One Blue Bloods character didn't get the happy ending they should have at the end of season 14, episode 18, "End of Tour." CBS canceled the long-running police and family drama after 14 seasons, despite its continued high ratings, so the only way to soften the blow of the disappointing Blue Bloods cancelation news was for the series to have a satisfying wrap-up. Thus, every character should have had a strong ending.
The final episode allowed Blue Bloods' Reagan family to work together on one final mission. Each Reagan had a role to play in restoring order to New York City after gangs united to create mayhem by attacking cops, judges, and other public servants, including Mayor Chase (Dylan Walsh). After the gang members were subdued, the Reagans had one last family dinner where they celebrated one another and the good news that Eddie was pregnant.

Blue Bloods is over, and Donnie Wahlberg is disappointed. He's not alone. Fans everywhere are in the process of grieving their beloved police drama, especially since it went out on a ratings high. A lot of people tuned in to see how the Reagan family would bid farewell to the world. So many, in fact, that a few cast members tried to campaign to get the show renewed.
Tom Selleck has been extremely vocal about his desire to see the show come back, but Wahlberg, who plays Danny Reagan, told Fox Digital News that he tried everything he could to keep the show going. “Like, we tried to keep the show going," he told the outlet. "We tried to help the show carry on, and we couldn’t. We couldn’t do it. You know, we did everything we could, everything in our power, to have the show carry on.

If Tom Selleck is returning to Jesse Stone now that Blue Bloods has officially wrapped, there is a perfect role for co-star Donnie Wahlberg to take on. Before Blue Bloods arrived, Selleck was busy co-writing and starring in the Jesse Stone movies, a series of noirish mysteries. Selleck's busy schedule with CBS' long-running police drama prevented him from returning to Stone in recent years, but now Blue Bloods has ended there's talk of Jesse Stone 10 coming together.
Selleck has stated his interest more than once - though he told TV Insider that he doesn't know what his next gig will be. It's been close to a decade since he last played Jesse, so much will have changed in the Paradise police chief's life in the intervening years. The next Jesse Stone would be smart to add some Blue Bloods cast members to the ensemble to draw more eyeballs to the TV movie saga,...

In the 1970s, The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman captivated audiences with their thrilling stories of technological transformation.
Steve Austin and Jaime Sommers weren’t just crimefighters — they were icons of a sci-fi revolution.
The shows imagined a world where technology could augment human capabilities, turning ordinary individuals into extraordinary heroes.

But beneath the action and gadgets, they explored something deeper: the emotional toll of being superhuman.
Now, decades later, we’re living in a world that feels closer to their fiction than ever before. Advances in AI, robotics, and bionics are bringing the “bionic dream” to life.

I’m still not over Blue Bloods’ cancelation.
I haven’t deleted the series finale from my DVR and have watched bits and pieces of it over again, and can safely say it was one of the best episodes in a season full of them.
Our Blue Bloods Season 14 report card considers that this farewell season didn’t feel like a show going off the air—and that the final episode should have been a season finale, not a series finale.
(CBS/Michael Parmalee)
While a few episodes had a sillier premise than I would like (I’m rarely a fan of Danny partnering up with a random guest star who annoys the hell out of him), every episode offered solid stories and the family values that made Blue Bloods such a wonderful series.
Even the worst episode of Blue Bloods Season 14 was some of the best that television has to offer.

CBS' latest update after the Blue Bloods series finale makes its cancelation even more infuriating. The Tom Selleck-led cop and family drama was popular throughout its entire 14-year run, yet CBS held fast to the disappointing Blue Bloods cancelation news despite the massive fan outcry about the series' ending and the cast's desire to continue working on the series. However, Blue Bloods season 14, episode 18, "End of Tour," offers a satisfying finale that demonstrates why the series is so successful.
After the Ace Double Tres gang wreaks havoc in "End of Tour" by killing a judge, shooting at Eddie and killing her partner, and trying to assassinate the mayor, each Reagan has a role to play to catch the shooters and restore order to the city. However, the most important part of the finale is the last Blue Bloods Reagan family dinner, where the clan shares happy news such as Eddie's pregnancy,...

NCIS, with its chilling storylines and iconic characters, has become a cornerstone of the CBS network. It is easily one of the longest-running shows, with 22 seasons to its name. While many cast changes occurred throughout the years, nobody could perfectly replace actor Mark Harmon, who played the protagonist Leroy Gibbs until season 19, when he said goodbye to the show.

Along with Harmon, even actress Pauley Perrette joined the show as an original cast member, but left abruptly in season 15. While no one suspected any drama behind the scenes, the reality was completely different.

As a veteran television actor, Mark Harmon has done some remarkable work in the industry with several notable projects to his name. But out of the lot, his most famous role would definitely be of Leroy Gibbs on NCIS.

Blue Bloods is officially done. The beloved procedural drama wrapped up after 14 seasons on CBS, and unlike so many shows, it went out on top. The general consensus among fans is that the finale, "End of Tour," was a satisfying and emotionally rich conclusion. And the ratings proved it.
Blue Bloods has always been a steady ratings draw for CBS, but the finale went above and beyond in terms of connecting with viewers. Variety reported that "End of Tour" drew an impressive 6.68 million viewers, according to VideoAmp data. This is a 15% increase from season to season.
The show drew 5.86 viewers during its initial Friday time slot, which managed to surpass the already highly viewed season 14 finale. Blue Bloods also wiped the floor with other scripted dramas airing on the same night. Fire Country, one of the most promising new CBS dramas, only managed to bring in 4.54 viewers, by comparison.

Any series finale for a long-time show can provide mixed emotions from fans. Some are happy with the way things end, but if there are any questions left unanswered, viewers can often feel disappointed.
The situation with Blue Bloods and the police drama ending has been sticky for a while now. Star Tom Selleck has been a major advocate for the show continuing as the “third-highest” scripted series on the network, and many fans had hoped that CBS would reverse its decision and keep the show on the air. As the final episode aired this past Friday, December 13 to mixed reviews, viewers are demanding a spin-off, now more than ever.

Blue Bloods is officially over. The long-running procedural drama has closed up shop, and the Reagan family will likely never been seen or heard from again. It's a decision that has saddened many fans, but it seems to have bothered the stars of the show even more.
Bridget Moynahan and Donnie Wahlberg have expressed disappointment with CBS' decision to end the show, but nobody has been more vocal about their disapproval than Tom Selleck. The TV veteran, who played Frank Reagan for 14 seasons, told Variety that he remains baffled by the decision to end a show he still felt was thriving.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Blue Bloods season 14, episode 18, "End of Tour."In many respects, Blue Bloods season 14, episode 18, "End of Tour," was the perfect wrap-up for the Reagan family. There are many reasons to be disappointed by Blue Bloods' cancelation, especially considering how popular the police and family drama is after 14 seasons. After a massive fan-led effort to save Blue Bloods failed, the best that could be hoped for was a strong series finale, but it wasn't clear that would happen.
Most episodes of Blue Bloods' final season did little to move toward a definitive conclusion, so there were some fears that the wrap-up would be less than satisfying. If little to none of the most popular items on the Blue Bloods series finale wishlist took place, that would have been even more heartbreaking than CBS' decision to cancel the fan-favorite procedural. Fortunately, the final episode did not make this mistake,...

Warning! Spoilers ahead for the Blue Bloods series finale. After Blue Bloods' finale, there is one last storyline that the show never took the chance to explore. Led by Donnie Wahlberg (Danny), Tom Selleck (Frank), and a wide array of other stars, the show ran for 14 seasons, before it ended due to the excessive budget. While viewers have been campaigning for another season, the show's final episode aired on December 13 and saw the end of the Reagan family story. Even if a spin-off is eventually greenlit, Frank Reagan is unlikely to appear consistently, given existing salary issues. His story will end with that final family dinner.
Throughout its run, the show never explored one major narrative element for Frank: Romance. After the death of his wife, Frank never had a long-term relationship. In an interview with TV Insider, showrunner Kevin Wade explained why they never went down that route with him.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for the Blue Bloods series finale.Blue Bloods showrunner Kevin Wade explains why the final episode didn’t kill any Reagans. The CBS procedural explores the dynamics of New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) and his family, who work for the NYPD and Da Office. Along with Selleck, the cast of Blue Bloods includes Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Vanessa Ray, and Donnie Wahlberg. Surprisingly, when the series concluded on December 13, Frank and his family were spared, despite uncertainty regarding any future projects. However, the season 14 finale did see Luis Badillo (Ian Quinlan) die from a gunshot wound.
During a recent interview with TV Insider, Wade explained why the Reagan family survived Blue Bloods. An emotional death was part of the plan for season 14, but as he revealed, killing Frank, Danny (Wahlberg) or any other Reagan would not have benefited the series. When it came to choosing Luis,...
