Movie lovers, rejoice! Warner Bros. has quietly made 31 full-length movies available to stream for free on YouTube. This move allows viewers to enjoy classic and lesser-known films without a subscription, though they do come with ads unless you have YouTube Premium.
Over the years, Warner Bros. has experimented with different ways to make money from its vast catalog of films. It launched FilmStruck, a subscription streaming service, in 2018, but shut it down less than a year later. Since then, the company has focused on licensing movies to free, ad-supported platforms like Roku and Tubi.
Now, Warner Bros. is trying a new approach—releasing movies directly on YouTube. This move allows the studio to generate revenue through digital ads while making films more accessible to a wider audience.

Over the years, Warner Bros. has tried to monetize its catalog of older movies through different subscription streaming services, including FilmStruck — which it shut down less than a year after it launched in 2018.
Now, Warner Bros. Entertainment has quietly taken a new approach to bringing its content to YouTube to farm its film catalog for digital ad revenue.
Since the start of 2025, the company has released 31 movies on Warner Bros.-owned YouTube channels, all available for free. The movies include ads, unless you are a YouTube Premium subscriber. Warner Bros. has published a YouTube playlist with the free movies, available at this link.
The titles are varied and cut across genres, with some films on the list dating back decades. The movies include “Mutiny on the Bounty” starring Marlon Brando, “The Adventures of Pluto Nash” starring Eddie Murphy, “Oh, God!” featuring George Burns in the titular role, “The Mission” starring Robert De Niro,...

One of the oddest movie marketing campaigns of all time rolls on with another unconventional announcement from Sony’s upcoming Anaconda, a project that’s all around hard to get a clear handle on. Arriving in theaters December 25, 2025, the franchise reboot is clearly taking a more comedic approach to the material, with Jack Black and Paul Rudd starring.
This latest video features Jack Black performing a Tenacious D-style song to officially announce the main cast of Anaconda, which also includes Thandiwe Newton (“Westworld”), Steve Zahn (“Silo,” Joy Ride), Brazilian actor Selton Mello, and Daniela Melchior.
Ione Skye, we recently learned, will also star in the new movie.
In Anaconda‘s big screen return, “a group of friends facing mid-life crises are remaking their favorite movie from their youth. They head to the rainforest, only to find themselves in a fight for their lives against natural disasters, giant snakes, and violent criminals.

Thandiwe Newton and Steve Zahn have joined Paul Rudd and Jack Black in a darkly comic reimagining of 1997’s Anaconda.
The new, blacky comic and somewhat meta-sounding Anaconda reboot is currently filming in Queensland, Australia, and from the production comes a new bit of casting. Thandiwe Newton, Steve Zahn, Ione Skye and Selton Mello have all been added to the line-up, which is already headlined by Jack Black and Paul Rudd.
The new Anaconda is being directed by Tom Gormican, who previously made The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent – an action comedy that doubled as a knowing retrospective on its star Nicolas Cage and his acting career. Judging by the story details from the production so far, Gormican’s Anaconda (stop chortling at the back) has a similar post-modern edge.

The Anaconda remake gets a new update from Paul Rudd and Jack Black, who unite for a video to reveal the film's release date. Released in 1997, Anaconda follows a National Geographic film crew as they are forced to work with an obsessed hunter to capture the world's largest snake. A sequel was released in 2004, followed by new installments in 2008 and 2009. After the franchise lay dormant for 15 years, it was confirmed this August that an Anaconda remake is on the way, with Black, Rudd, and Daniela Melchior all set to star.
Sony now shares a new video featuring Rudd and Black on the Anaconda remake's tropical-looking set, with the pair revealing that the film will hit theaters Christmas 2025. Though there's some confusion over whether the movie will be called "Anaconda" or "The Anaconda," Black does promise that "there's gonna be a big f--king snake." Something other than Santa Claus is coming to town next holiday as Sony plans to release its reimagined Anaconda movie in the Christmas 2025 window. With plans to take a comedic approach to the original 1997 creature feature, The Anaconda stars Jack Black, Paul Rudd, and Daniela Melchoir with The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent director Tom Gormican at the helm. The Anaconda slithers alongside other Christmas Day releases, including Paul Feig’s The Housemaid, starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, and A24’s ping-pong biopic Marty Supreme, starring Timothee Chalamet.
In addition to getting behind the camera, Tom Gormican wrote Sony’s The Anaconda with Kevin Etten.
1997’s Anaconda focuses on a “National Geographic” film crew taken hostage by an insane hunter who forces them along on his quest to capture the world’s largest—and deadliest—snake. Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Owen Wilson, Eric Stoltz, Jonathan Hyde, Kari Wuhrer, and Jon Voight lead the cast,...

The Substance is making quite an impression on audiences, as director Coralie Fargeat’s satirical feature turns heads — and maybe some stomachs — with the disturbing physical transformation of its lead, played by Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley. If the film lands Oscar recognition for best makeup and hairstyling, it will follow the flight pattern of fellow body-horror flick The Fly.
Starring Jeff Goldblum, Geena Davis and John Getz, director David Cronenberg’s 1986 cult classic is a remake of the 1958 movie of the same name that is based on a short story by George Langelaan. The movie centers on Seth Brundle (Goldblum), a visionary scientist who suffers a mishap during a teleportation experiment, leading him to slowly and gruesomely transform into a human-fly hybrid.
Special effects and makeup artists Chris Walas and Stephan Dupuis, who had previously worked with Cronenberg on 1981’s Scanners, oversaw the look of Goldblum’s monstrous evolution.

For Hollywood stars, hearing that a project "went another direction" with casting choices isn't a rare occurrence. Sometimes an actor just isn't the one filmmakers are searching for -- but it's always better when they're told this before the cameras start rolling. Over the years, plenty of projects have ground to a halt because one of its core players just aren't clicking with what's on the page, resulting to an alternative choice taking over.
There are also times, however, when a passing comment or a personal blunder can lead to someone being ejected without question. It not only changes the trajectory of the project, but can also lead another actor ending up with a thriving future that could've been someone else's. Here's a list of box office break-ups that could've resulted in a very different film, leaving the original choice...

Casting an important movie role is never easy, and sometimes the process of finding the best actor for a given role continues even after production or filming has officially begun. The entertainment industry can often be a turbulent one, with the typical professional rules for hiring and firing often being thrown out the window in favor of last-minute changes. Some of the most iconic movie castings ever have often been the result of last-minute changes to the call sheet that only come into play long after the first scene has been shot.

The moment in Back to the Future when Michael J. Fox's Marty McFly masquerades as "Darth Vader, from the planet Vulcan," is soundtracked by a song that had already appeared in a movie the year before, and starred the actor who was originally cast as Marty. Often heralded not only as one of the best time travel movies of all time but also one of the best movie trilogies ever, Back to the Future remains as popular as ever. That being said, it went through quite a process to end up in its original form.
Back to the Future began production with Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly, but he was let go weeks into shooting after it was determined he wasn't right for the role. Thankfully, Fox was brought in to fill the void and was just what the 1985 movie needed, as well as the two sequels that followed.

The sci-fi horror classic The Fly is getting a follow-up, and from whats known about it so far, it could be the closest we get to David Cronenbergs canceled follow-up project. Few sci-fi movies have had the impact that David Cronenbergs 1986 The Fly had. Loosely based on George Langelaans 1957 short story of the same name and the 1958 film adaptation of it, The Fly introduced the world to Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum), an eccentric but brilliant scientist working on a secret project. When he meets science journalist Ronnie Quaife (Geena Davis), Seth shows her his invention: telepods for teleportation.
Seth decides to test the telepods himself, but he doesnt know there is a housefly inside one of the pods. What follows is Seths gradual and shocking transformation into a human/fly hybrid, as Ronnie witnesses how he slowly loses his humanity. The Fly was a critical and commercial success, and it...

Here's some *ahem* buzzy horror movie news for your Tuesday morning. David Cronenberg's seminal 1986 body horror masterpiece The Fly is set to be the basis for a seemingly Nia DaCosta's Candyman style, universe expanding spin-off at 20th Century Studios. Per Deadline's reporting, Nanny filmmaker Nikyatu Jusu is actively developing, well, The Fly, on which the in-demand rising name in horror will serve as both writer and director.
As Deadline are quick to note, whilst plot details for Jusu's films are being kept shtum at the moment, "sources stressed that it’s set in the universe of Cronenberg’s film, rather than a straightforward remake." Yes, it seems we're heading Into The Brundleverse! Now, how exactly Jusu's movie will tie in to Cronenberg's cult classic remains to be seen, but there's no shortage of possible routes to go down — especially in this modern age of increasingly radical, head spinning scientific experimentation.

Because Kirsten Dunst has been acting since she was a child, she has a much longer acting resume than other actors her age. Even as a child in the business, Dunst had a variety of projects she appeared in. In addition to family-friendly adventure tales, she also appeared in historical dramas and sci-fi/fantasy films - all before she even turned 18.
Dunst is one of the seemingly rare actors to make a successful transition from roles as a child to roles as an adult. She spent a few years in the early 2000s playing high school roles in teen rom-coms, like cult classic Get Over It, before making the jump to more adult roles. As a result, her best movies include some from her childhood, her teen roles, and her more recent adult roles. Shes had one of the more consistent careers in Hollywood.

As ill-fated coffee shop burglar Pumpkin in Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction,” Tim Roth knows the truth about a privileged piece of movie mythology.
“We tend to know only as much as [our character] would know, but one thing that I do know because my character would know, which is what’s in the suitcase,” Roth reveals. “But Quentin asked me not to mention it.”
In a film full of mysteries, the contents of that sacred object remain among the biggest. But even without Jules Winnfield’s 9mm pistol pointed at his head, Roth is kind enough to volunteer an answer that, though perhaps slightly disappointing, is at least factually accurate. “I remember him saying that the answer if they ask you was, ‘A battery and a lamp’.”

Happy 30th to Pulp Fiction. Quentin Tarantino made a grand entrance with Reservoir Dogs, but it was 1994’s Pulp Fiction that solidified him as the director to watch with his unique brand of intermingling stories and 70s-inspired aesthetics. For the 30th anniversary, Pulp Fiction is returning to the silver screen in October for special presentations featuring pristine new 35mm prints in select theatres across the U.S. In addition, the film will be released on 4K Ultra HD in a 30th Anniversary Collector’s Edition on December 3, 2024, from Paramount Home Entertainment.
Pulp Fiction was such a milestone that not only did it catapult Tarantino’s career immensely, but the film would also become the comeback for John Travolta and it would be the breakout for Samuel L. Filmmaking can be a pitiless business, particularly for actors. While it's true all creatives are being judged on their personal attributes, performers face the added pressure of having to embody the physical and emotional attributes necessary to play a given part. This means they're being hired or rejected based on their very appearance and essence as a human being. This is rough for anyone, but especially brutal for young actors who are in the midst of puberty or just on the other side of it. Furthermore, it can be rough on the folks behind the camera; an actor still getting comfortable within their growing body might dazzle in an interview, but once you get them on set, they're just not right for the part. Just ask the tremendously talented thespian Tamzin Merchant and the folks responsible for bringing George R.R. Martin's "Game of Thrones" to life for HBO. They...

To industry outsiders, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' recent decision to add a Best Casting category seemed an odd choice. Though the casting process isn't necessarily a mystery to most people, if they've ever experienced it firsthand it was probably auditioning for a school or local play. In these cases, they're auditioning for the director, maybe the writer, and possibly a producer. There is no casting person present.
Obviously, anyone who's ever watched a movie has surely become accustomed to seeing a casting credit during the opening credits, but how many people bother to Google the details of how casting on a feature film works? It's not just a question of fit. It can get awfully political if an agent attempts to force an up-and-coming actor into a production, and has the leverage to do so because they represent bigger names. A whole host of factors can come into play when,...

Lea Thompson took a while to warm up to Michael J. Fox after Eric Stoltz’s Back to the Future firing
Dozens of major names circled the role of Marty McFly, but only one man could get it…Well, make that two. While Eric Stoltz was originally cast in the Back to the Future role, director Robert Zemeckis would ultimately decide he wasn’t right for the part, canning him less than two months into filming. With that, Michael J. Fox would step in and help make modern movie history. But for Lea Thompson, it took quite a while to get used to her new co-star.
Appearing on the Still Here Hollywood podcast (via EW), Lea Thompson said she was initially distant to Fox, thinking his TV work on Family Ties wasn’t up to snuff with her big screen successes…“I remember specifically being really snooty because there was a big division between movie stars and TV stars at that point. Pulp Fiction Review: Quentin Tarantino's Crime Saga Is An Exhilarating Ride You Can't Look Away From
With a rare career exclusively full of hits, Quentin Tarantino is undeniably one of the most prolific filmmakers of all-time, and Pulp Fiction is not only an exemplary example of his unique style, but arguably still his best film. The movie was Tarantino's second directorial effort following his debut with Reservoir Dogs, and while it was seen as an independent film like the 1992 crime thriller, it was a far bigger hit, grossing over $107 million worldwide against its modest $8 million budget. It netted seven Oscar nominations, winning one for Best Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.

The Friends actor says he regrets not going for the role made famous by Will Smith, but could he have made ‘I make this look good’ as good?
Hollywood is full of tantalising “what-if?” moments; decisions made on the spur of the moment that have far-reaching repercussions for all involved. What if Robert Zemeckis had persevered with Eric Stoltz on the Back to the Future set, rather than bringing in Michael J Fox? What if Tom Selleck had played Indiana Jones instead of Harrison Ford? What if, as initially wanted by the film’s producers, Robert Altman had directed Alien?

One of the most memorably brilliant creative choices behind the MacGruber movie was the casting of Val Kilmer as the dastardly Dieter von Cunth. Not only is Kilmer an icon of ‘80s and ‘90s action movies, but as Airplane! proved, putting dramatic actors in absurd roles is often way funnier.
But Kilmer wasn’t the only name that was floated for the awkwardly-named villain. Apparently MacGruber came very close to battling the legendary actor who faced off against Batman, Adam Sandler and his own wife and child after a few stiff drinks served by a ghost: Jack Nicholson.
In the most recent episode of The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast, the trio discussed their work on “People Getting Punched Right Before Eating.” It wasn’t a metaphor or anything, it was literally about people getting punched right before eating.

Despite all its shortcomings, Steven Spielberg’s Kingdom of the Crystal Skull gave fans one of the most iconic moments in the entire franchise, which sees Indy taking shelter from a nuclear blast in a refrigerator. Interestingly, the seeds for this scene were sown decades back during the scripting of one of the most influential films of all time.

While Back to the Future has a perfect ending, the classic movies fitting conclusion only came about because of budgetary constraints. Back to the Futures production was infamously troubled, to say the least. The movies original script was a bawdy R-rated teen comedy in the vein of Porkys and much of its rude humor was cut during the revision process. Numerous scenes were shot with Eric Stoltz in the role of Marty McFly before the filmmakers decided to go in a different direction, resulting in costly re-shoots. Meanwhile, casting Back to the Futures Doc Brown took a long time.

Black and Rudd’s exact roles in the film are currently unclear. However, one will play an aspiring director “stuck in his job as a wedding videographer” and the other will portray “an actor who did a stint on a cop show but sees his Hollywood dreams slipping further and further away.”
The Anaconda remake will be directed by Tom Gormican, who is co-writing it with Kevin Etten. The duo is best known for serving in the same roles on the 2022 Nicolas Cage meta-comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

Not every actor is a Samuel L. Jackson, gladly signing an extensive superhero movie contract to play Nick Fury as many times as Marvel Studios wants him. Some are more like James Bond actor George Lazenby, securing an iconic part and then instantly worrying it'll cause typecasting. Meanwhile, some stars can't get along with the studio, while others, unfortunately, die before the role has run its course. No property or individual movie is immune to the possibility of recasting. It's just that some do it a lot better than others.

How the fans, the actors, and the studio react cannot always be predicted,...
