The final scene of Cobra Kai was a callback to the iconic fly scene from The Karate Kid, but it also featured another wink to a legendary ’80s actioner: Back to the Future. Before jumping to Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence’s (William Zabka) little dinner sequence, the camera pans over two men at the bar having a discussion about the 1985 sci-fi favorite and discussing their plans to make a show about it. Those two just so happen to be Cobra Kai co-creators Jon Hurwitz and Josh Heald, making a cameo as themselves in deep conversation about what’s next. “All right, lay it on me,” Heald says, to which Hurwitz explains his thinking: “So the show would be set in Hill Valley, alternate 1985. All we need are Wilson, Thompson, and Zane, and we’ve got the green light.” Hurwitz was referring, of course, to Bttf alums Thomas F. Wilson...

As Back to the Future celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, no doubt there will be continued reunions and events throughout 2025. The most recent came at this weekend’s 52nd Saturn Awards, where the film was honored with the George Pal Memorial Award, marking the first time the award has ever been given to a film. But with such events comes the inevitable question: Will there be a Back to the Future 4?
Speaking at the awards, producer and co-write Bob Gale – joined by stars Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson – said that anybody asking for a Back to the Future 4 should move on. “I’m having the best third act of life that anybody could imagine. People always say, well, ‘When are you guys going to do Back to the Future 4? And we say, ‘F*ck you,’ you quote me on that!”

The Back to the Future franchise took the 80s and 90s by storm. One of the most successful trilogies of all time, the sci-fi movies brought a fresh and entertaining perspective to the genre. As such, its undying popularity even decades later is not really a surprise.

In light of that, calls for a reboot or sequel to the original movies can be heard pretty often from around the world. To be fair, Hollywood’s obsession with doing exactly that also plays a massive part in that.
In any case, many wondered when would the Back to the Future franchise hop on that trend to capitalize on the continued fan fervor around the classics. Interestingly, the movie’s screenwriter recently gave an update on that very subject. As it stands, fans couldn’t agree with him more.

The Back to the Future films have stopped at three.
Bob Gale, who co-created and co-wrote the classic 80s films with Robert Zemeckis, was asked backstage at the Saturn Awards what dreams he still has left after achieving so much success from the franchise.
“I’m having the best third act of life that anybody could imagine,” Gale responded alongside the film’s stars Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson. “People always say, well, ‘When are you guys going to do Back to the Future 4? And we say, ‘Fuck you,’ you quote me on that!”
Gale continued: “We made three terrific movies and people kept asking for more Back to the Future. So we made Back to the Future: The Musical … We’re taking it around the world.”

Don’t expect another Back to the Future film, as co-writer Bob Gale seemingly shoots down the possibility despite fan desires.
On Sunday, February 2, the Saturn Awards honored Back to the Future on its 40th Anniversary with the George Pal Memorial Award. Gale, Christopher Lloyd, and Lea Thompson received the honor, and the writer addressed fan desire for a fourth installment of the sci-fi film.
“People always say, ‘When are you guys going to do Back to the Future 4? And we say, ‘F*** you!’ Gale jokingly said while accepting the honor. “You can quote me on that.”
He continued, “No, we made three terrific movies and people kept asking for more Back to the Future. So we made Back to the Future: The Musical, which Chris and Lea have attended on several occasions.”
The musical adaptation of the film ended its Broadway run last month, and a touring production continues throughout North America.

As one of the most beloved movie trilogies of all time, Back to the Future has no shortage of iconic scenes. High school student Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Doctor Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) are one of the most well-known duos in cinematic history as they travel to the past and future via a DeLorean time machine. Back to the Future's various timelines spanning from 1885 to 2015 allow the story to continue for three movies and keep the trilogy engaging.
The movies' iconic nature is largely grounded in Back to the Future's best quotes, ranging from Doc Brown's "Great Scott!" to Marty saying, "Nobody calls me chicken!" Many of the quotes and scenes from the first Back to the Future movie made such a strong impact that they are repeated, albeit in different ways, during the second and third films. The reason why Back to the Future Part II is so dark is because one of the original Back to the Future cast members refused to reprise his role in the sequel. Back to the Future Part II follows on from the cliffhanger ending of the first Back to the Future, as Doc Brown takes Marty McFly into the future to prevent his son from making a huge mistake. The plot takes a grim turn when Doc and Marty return to a dystopian alternate version of the present.
This dark turn fit in with a trend of sequels going darker than their predecessor. The trend originated with The Empire Strikes Back and could later be seen in movies like The Dark Knight and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Hallmark+ fans were over the moon with The Spencer Sisters series, in fact, the show, starring Lea Thompson and Stacey Farber as a mom-daughter detective team was an incredible hit for the streaming service.
While it’s not a Hallmark original, everything about it screams what the network encompasses, especially the feel-good fun that is felt from the beginning of the series to the end.
So, could Hallmark+ find a way to renew the show for Season 2? Time to look into this further.

Sadly, neither CW nor CTV renewed the show. Hallmark+ ended up picking Season 1 up and in late December, released it to its audience. While some had seen it on CW, many also binge-watched it on Hallmark+ and couldn’t get enough of it.

Now that Hallmark Media has eliminated the EVP of Programming Lisa Hamilton Daly’s position, Sleuthers are worried that the network is going to stop making mysteries. Daly was the person who was behind the rebranding of Hmm to Hallmark Mystery. She also was key in creating more series that aired in 2024. Although her intention was to make as many of these mysteries into a three-movie series to determine whether or not they deserved more, it does not seem that the new regime is interested in mysteries.
Right now, Sleuthers are still waiting for one series to be renewed. This has caused a lot of discussions on social media. What do these devoted mystery fans have to say about their concern?

Did Principal Strickland ever have hair? And were the McFlys always slackers? The answers nearly came true at FanExpo New Orleans over the weekend, as Michael J. Fox and James Tolkan reunited, recreating their famous showdown at Hill Valley High.
In the photo (seen below), Michael J. Fox and James Tolkan joined up to give a modern recreation of the scene in which Principal Strickland gives Marty McFly a verbal berating in the hallway, telling him, “You got a real attitude problem, McFly; you’re a slacker. You remind me of your father when he went here; he was a slacker, too.” Really the only thing that would have made this shot better was if Claudia Wells (Jennifer Parker) was by Fox’s side. The CW has had a messy few years, with multiple cancellations and final season orders. In 2024, five shows were either canceled or ended, and one of them was beautifully managed as it brought the end of an era.
There is only one remaining original from The CW era of TV after Nexstar took it over. That one is All American, with the other three shows coming to an end in 2024. two of The CW cancellations weren’t actually due to the network itself. We can blame the Canadian networks that commissioned the shows instead.
The CW show that ended in 2024
There was one TV show from The CW that officially ended. It was final seasoned, making sure that fans had a chance to say goodbye. This was important, considering it brought the end of an era. Yes, we’re talking about Superman & Lois.
This was the last remaining Arrowverse series on the network.

Warning: This post contains Spoilers for What If...? season 3For all the success of the MCU era, there have been some dark days in Marvel's comic book movie past, and one of them just took an even darker turn thanks to the last major superhero release of 2024. Prior to the MCU, there were several attempts to adapt Marvel Comics, from the early age of serials, with 1940s adaptations for both Captain Marvel and Captain America through to the weirdness of the late 1970s Spider-Man and Captain America movies.
But it wasn't until the 1980s that studios started throwing real money behind Marvel rights, well before Sam Raimi's Spider-Man and the original X-Men movies changed everything. It's something of a forgotten period for Marvel, but in 1986, George Lucas threatened to ruin the good name of Marvel with a movie so terrible that it belongs in a museum. I never thought I'd be writing this,...

From rom-coms to intense thrillers, Zoey Deutch continues to propel herself into Hollywood stardom. The daughter of Back to the Future actress Lea Thompson and frequent John Hughes collaborator Howard Deutch, she has worked on a variety of movies, shining in supporting roles and eventually working her way up to prove herself as a lead actor. She has shared the screen with fellow rising stars like Glen Powell as well as Oscar winners like Mark Rylance and Emma Stone.
While her first role was on The Suite Life on Deck, her versatile performances since have made her a growing star. From working with acclaimed director Richard Linklater to leading one of Netflix's most popular romantic comedies, Deutch's performances have been well-received by fans and critics alike while the movies themselves do moderate to well for the most part. Every now and then, a movie is so spectacularly, brilliantly, and gloriously bad that our brains catalog it in the “good” category anyway.
It’s hard to define what makes a movie good or bad since it’s all subjective, but for me, a bad movie becomes good when it’s still enjoyable despite being a terrible film.
While there’s plenty of room for debate on what movies are considered bad in the first place, I’ve come up with a handful that I think we can all agree aren’t exactly masterpieces.
(Universal Pictures/Screenshot)
In looking back over some of the worst movies I’ve seen, I asked myself one question to determine if it was so bad, it’s actually good.
Would I watch it again?
When the answer was yes, as it was for all of the following, I figured that was enough to give...

Since Dancing with the Stars premiered, fans of the hit reality show have been passionate to know about the families behind the series. On top of that, many fans know other facts, like why Stephen Nedoroscik wears glasses, how Ezra Sosa had a breakout year, and about the show's music director. DWTS fans also tend to love more dramatic headlines, like the ones about the Menendez brothers potentially joining the show and when Carrie Ann Inaba had to walk back her comments.
Unfortunately for Dancing with the Stars fans, there have been some headlines about the pro dancer Artem Chigvintsev that nobody can enjoy. Since those headlines are so off-putting, many Dancing with the Stars don't know that Artem claims he lost $100,000 due to "false" allegations.

The action-packed first trailer for the third season of Prime Video's acclaimed adult animated series, Invincible, debuted during Ccxp last night, and has now been officially released online (via Toonado.com).
Like the recent poster, the trailer gives away quite a few major plot points including the fact that Mark Grayson and Cecil Steamman ultimately become enemies after some particularly shady dealings from the latter.
We also get a first look at Oliver Grayson suited-up as Kid-Omni-Man (The Mauler Twins probably shouldn't be taking this youngster quite so lightly), a brand-new villain known as Powerplex, Mark donning his new costume, and much more.
Enter the "Blue Suit Era" by checking out the trailer below, and let us know what you think in the comments section.

The first trailer for the third season of acclaimed adult animated series, Invincible, is expected to debut during Ccxp at some point tomorrow, but Prime Video mistakenly shared it on the streaming site a little early.

There was a significant gap (over two years) between the first and second seasons of Prime Video's Invincible, but we had been assured that the wait for season 3 wouldn't be as long, which was recently confirmed via the release of the first teaser.

Now, the streamer has released the first official season 3 key art for the adult animated series, and if you're not familiar with the comics, the image counts as a pretty big spoiler!
The recent teaser saw a now 19-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) meeting with Cecil Stedman (Walton Goggins) in a café in a similar set-up to the season 2 teaser with Allen the Alien. Cecil is not happy (for a change) with Mark taking a lengthy break from crime-fighting, and tells the young hero that he needs more training if...

Since Dancing with the Stars is one of the longest running and most popular reality shows, there are many fascinating facts about it. For example, it is fascinating to know that some families dominate DWTS, that the judges and hosts disagree sometimes, and about what Lea Thompson said about Artem Chigvintsev. As interesting as it is that Ezra Sosa had a breakout year and some stars hated the show, however, many fans don't know one of the most interesting facts about the show.
Every year, Dancing with the Stars fans wait to see which celebrities will be cast in the show. While that makes sense, Dancing with the Stars would be nothing without the pros. With that in mind, it is fascinating to look at how much the Dancing with the Stars pros get paid.

His niece, Theresa Mullins Harris, announced the news on social media, writing in part: “His dream at 5 years old of becoming a movie star came true, more than he ever could have imagined.”
Holliman got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame won a Supporting Actor Golden Globe for 1957’s The Rainmaker and was nominated for the short-lived early-’90s ABC sitcom Delta, starring Delta Burke. Back to the Future might be the ultimate feel-good sci-fi movie. A rip-roaring adventure that's guaranteed to have you laughing, cheering, and glued to the edge of your seat, the movie remains the gold standard for time travel entertainment. It's fair to say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been on the downslide ever since the release of "Avengers: Endgame" in 2019. The McU's many, many fans haven't seemed as excited about the many installments to have come out since, with some of them even becoming huge flops at the box office. Even the commercial hits -- like "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "Deadpool & Wolverine" -- have tended to be nostalgic victory laps rather than new, exciting beginnings. From 2008 until 2019, however, Marvel stood astride the pop landscape like a mighty colossus, with essayists and cinephiles carefully examining the history of Marvel movies and why they came to ascend in the late 2000s.
Among the recent successes was James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3," a very long, very weepy farewell to the eponymous characters. Gunn became one of the guiding voices in the MCU after the first "Guardians...

An iconic item from the Back to the Future franchise has been sold at an auction for nearly $100,000. The franchise kicked off in 1985 with the movie of the same name, which starred Christopher Lloyd as mad scientist Doc Brown and Michael J. Fox as his teenage helper. The movie, which was directed by Robert Zemeckis, follows the duo accidentally being trapped in the 1950s, where, in addition to finding a way home, Marty must encourage his parents to fall in love to prevent himself from vanishing out of existence.
The movie was a smash hit, grossing $388.8 million against its $19 million budget and spawning a full Back to the Future trilogy. The 1989 sequel Back to the Future Part II saw the duo travel forward in time to 2015 before returning to the 1950s to correct a cataclysmic mistake. That was followed by 1990's Back to the Future Part III, which took place...

It was a time when movies gave us stories that became timeless and the characters felt like old friends with memorable one-liners. From John Hughes’ high school comedies to Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi flicks, a world without ‘80s movies is almost unimaginable. Today. The classical tales of the ‘80s are embedded in our pop culture, reflected in everything from today’s biggest blockbusters to late-night comedies.

Although the modern cinema has better CGI spectacles than the 80’s tales, these films come with hitting nostalgia. They made the audience feel, laugh, gasp, and cheer, and they still do. There are plenty of movies from the ‘80s that have something unique to offer. Whether you’re...

What’s the best time-travel movie of all time? According to astrophysicist Carl Sagan, it’s not the thoughtful sci-fi approaches of Time After Time, Looper or Edge of Tomorrow. The best compliment Robert Zemeckis ever got was when the famed cosmologist bestowed that honor on his comedy, Back to the Future.
Sagan told Zemeckis that the Michael J. Fox movie featured the best time-travel scientific theory he’d seen in a movie. “I didn’t tell him I took it from H.G. Wells,” the director confessed to Bill Maher on a recent Club Random podcast.
“It’s funny to watch a movie about time travel when you are now 40 years past when the movie was made,” Maher observed about jokes that were funny in 1985 about traveling to 1955. “You know, ‘If you know everything about the future, who is president in 1985?’ Ronald Reagan. ‘Yeah, right. And I’ll bet Jerry Lewis is vice president.

Robert Zemeckis' Here has finally been released, but the film is a reminder of a harsh reality 39 years after Back to the Future. While Robert Zemeckis has directed all kinds of beloved movies like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Forrest Gump, and Cast Away, Back to the Future is arguably the director's most popular and influential work. The fingerprints of Back to the Future can still be seen 39 years after the film's 1985 release, with one aspect of Here calling back to Robert Zemeckis' iconic time travel movie.
2024's Here is the newest movie from director Robert Zemeckis, with the film acting as a Forrest Gump reunion due to Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, and Robert Zemeckis all working together again. Here is built on some interesting gimmicks, with the film focusing on a singular house that is shown throughout the decades. Here utilizes only one camera angle throughout, making for a truly unique viewing experience.

The moment in Back to the Future when Michael J. Fox's Marty McFly masquerades as "Darth Vader, from the planet Vulcan," is soundtracked by a song that had already appeared in a movie the year before, and starred the actor who was originally cast as Marty. Often heralded not only as one of the best time travel movies of all time but also one of the best movie trilogies ever, Back to the Future remains as popular as ever. That being said, it went through quite a process to end up in its original form.
Back to the Future began production with Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly, but he was let go weeks into shooting after it was determined he wasn't right for the role. Thankfully, Fox was brought in to fill the void and was just what the 1985 movie needed, as well as the two sequels that followed.
