As the 2025 Ee BAFTA Film Awards got underway on Sunday in London, a slew of stars hit the red carpet. Awards season is set to take another turn on Sunday with the 78th annual BAFTA Awards. The 2025 BAFTA Awards begin live in London at 7 p.m. GMT/2 p.m. Et/11 a.m. Pt. Information on how to watch and stream this year’s BAFTA Awards ceremony in the U.S. can be found below.

This year’s BAFTA Awards film nominations list was led by Conclave, which received 12 total nominations, including bids for Best Film, Best British Film, Best Director for Edward Berger, and Best Actor for Ralph Fiennes. Notably missing from the attendees list was Emilia Pérez star Karla Sofía Gascón, whose awards campaign has catastrophically imploded following the discovery of controversial posts made on her X (previously Twitter) account. The star — the first trans actor to be nominated for an Oscar — has apologized, though tensions are said to be high between Gascón and streamer Netflix for hindering the film’s Oscar hopes. She has now been phased out of its awards campaign entirely.

Gascón is nominated for Leading Actress at the BAFTAs but is not on a guest list for the night, suggesting that the transgender Spanish performer will skip Sunday’s ceremony. She was the first openly trans actress to be nominated for a BAFTA Film Award.

Gascón has already missed the Critics Choice Awards, PGA Awards, and the Goya Awards, but the BAFTAs is arguably the highest-profile event she will not attend. Netflix and her reps did not respond to requests for comment.

Other Emilia Pérez nominees, including Zoe Saldaña and Selena Gomez (both competing for Supporting Actress), are expected to be in London for the Royal Festival Hall event. Saldaña and Gomez will also present a prize.

Fans of "The Big Bang Theory" know that, for twelve seasons and the same number of years, Kaley Cuoco brought some much-needed levity to the role of Penny, the beautiful and outgoing aspiring actress who moves into the apartment across the hall from Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki). Penny is basically an audience surrogate who hangs out with a group of intensely nerdy guys with a ton of esoteric knowledge about science and pop culture.

As the resident "normie," Penny translates their nonsense for the viewers and, within the universe of the show, helps all of the guys evolve. Leonard, Penny's on-again, off-again boyfriend, is a much better person after he spends years as Penny's partner. Penny ultimately breaks Sheldon's barriers down to the point where he considers her one of his best friends in the world.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is only three episodes in, and fans are head-over-heels for this new version of Marvel's golden boy. In retrospect, it's pretty hard to ruin such a classic character like Spidey, but this new vision has given him a fresh new look with some classic features.

Milligan, who was a member of the Writers Guild of America for the better part of a century, and his writing partner of 18 years, Jay Moriarty, additionally wrote and produced Good Times, What’s Happening Now, Here and Now and Melba (which he said was “canceled by the network during the commercial break while the pilot aired on CBS”).

As writers and executive producers for Norman Lear’s groundbreaking sitcom The Jeffersons, Milligan and Moriarty received an NAACP Image Award; the show was among the first to tackle such topics as suicide and white supremacy in American comedy programs and was the first-ever TV episode to feature a trans character.

The 2021 movie picks up immediately after the shocking cliffhanger to Spider-Man: Far From Home. Spider-Man (Tom Holland) is horrified when the late Mysterio manages to release a doctored video blaming Spidey for Mysterio's own crimes. It also has him revealing his true identity as Peter Parker. That has Peter briefly arrested.

Thankfully, with aid from Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Peter was exonerated from crimes but still dealing with everyone knowing who he was. That put pressure on him, Mj (Zendaya), Ned (Jacob Batalon) and Aunt May (Marisa Tomei). Peter was convinced that MIT wouldn't accept him or his friends because of this and needed help.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1 – written by Christos Gage, with art by Eric Gapstur – kicks off the animated series' prequel by showing Peter Parker’s fateful radioactive spider bite with an interesting twist, as it is revealed that this version of Peter’s superhero origin happens at the very moment that he’s meeting Nico Minoru.

The two form a closer friendship as the issue unfolds, and it’s clear that Nico will be an important part of this take on Spider-Man’s lore.

Marisa Tomei, who is attending the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia this week, is looking for film and stage roles that address the themes confronting women in the post #MeToo era, she tells Variety.

Tomei, who won the 1993 Oscar for best actress in a supporting role for “My Cousin Vinny” and received Oscar nominations in the same category for “In the Bedroom” in 2002 and “The Wrestler” in 2009, plays an outspoken psychologist in Ann Marie Allison’s debut feature “You’re Dating a Narcissist!,” now in post. The 1992 comedy "My Cousin Vinny" is a perfect movie, but it could have been totally different — in that two Hollywood A-listers nearly played two of the main roles.

As the movie opens, New Yorkers and college students Bill Gambini and Stanley Rothenstein — played by Ralph Macchio and Mitchell Whitfield, respectively — accidentally steal a can of tuna from a convenience store called the Sac-o-Suds, and when the police corner them, they confess. What they don't know is that the clerk at the Sac-o-Suds was shot and killed right after they unwittingly shoplifted, so they end up confessing to the murder ... at which point Bill's cousin Vincent Laguardia Gambini (Joe Pesci), a newly-minted lawyer, comes to their rescue. According to an oral history of the movie in Rolling Stone, Macchio and Whitfield were not the first choices for Bill and Stanley; the roles were nearly played by Ben Stiller and Will Smith.

"My Cousin Vinny," the 1992 comedy courtroom film, is great for a lot of reasons, Marisa Tomei chief among them. Tomei's character, Vinny Gambini's (Joe Pesci) foul-mouthed but very supportive fiancée Mona Lisa Vito, comes in clutch in the film's final act, providing the expert testimony required to exonerate the wrongfully-arrested defendants. As The World Turns Spoilers – The Show’s History

The series was broadcast on CBS from 1956 until 2010, earning its place as one of the longest-running daytime dramas in television history. Created by Irna Phillips, a trailblazer in the soap opera field, “As the World Turns” delved into the lives, romances, and struggles of the inhabitants of the fictional town of Oakdale.

Renowned for its blend of family-oriented drama and socially pertinent narratives, it became a beloved fixture of daytime TV for over fifty years.

Initially focusing on the Hughes family, the show gradually broadened its scope to feature a diverse array of characters and families.

I know I'm not alone in hoping that Agatha Harkness returns to the MCU soon after her Agatha All Along success, but I've just realized one detail that makes it especially important. Thankfully, the Agatha All Along finale rectified this glaring discrepancy - but it speaks to a longstanding issue in Marvel Movies that now makes Agatha's continued involvement in the MCU more important.

Typecasting is a prevalent issue in the entertainment industry that not even the best of them can avoid. Oscar-winning actress Marisa Tomei knows this all too well.
