Throughout its brilliant nine-season run, "Seinfeld" brought a number of celebrities on to play amusing caricatures of themselves. Raquel Welch (star of "Scarsdale Surprise"), Marisa Tomei and "The Velvet Fog" Mel Tormé are just a few big names that got in on the fun, but it's arguable the most memorable drop-ins came from the world of sports. Given that Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David are both massive sports fans, this shouldn't be surprising, but it is interesting that both men managed to get players from their favorite, and very different, New York baseball teams to guest on the show.
David, a well-known Yankees fanatic, prevailed upon newly minted World Series champions Derek Jeter and Bernie Williams to appear on the Season 8 episode "The Abstinence" in 1996. Though not anywhere near a top-tier episode, Jeter and Williams were game and comfortable within the comedy genre – which is not always the case for...

Was Kaley Cuoco anout to lose the role of Penny to a known actress? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
Kaley Cuoco may have been the perfect fit for Penny on ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ but the role almost went to someone else after she was initially rejected for the part, and several other Hollywood stars were in the running.
However, according to LADBible, this initial rejection might not have been as devastating as it seems, considering the character of Penny was originally written quite differently.

Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldaña, Jesse Eisenberg, Joe Alwyn, Isabella Rossellini, Colman Domingo and Ralph Fiennes are among the presenters set for the 2025 BAFTA Film Awards.
Notably missing from the attendees list was Emilia Pérez star Karla Sofía Gascón, whose awards campaign has catastrophically imploded following the discovery of controversial posts made on her X (previously Twitter) account. The star — the first trans actor to be nominated for an Oscar — has apologized, though tensions are said to be high between Gascón and streamer Netflix for hindering the film’s Oscar hopes. She has now been phased out of its awards campaign entirely.
The British Academy confirmed the guest and presenter lineup ahead of the prestigious ceremony Sunday, Feb. 16 at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
Other presenters include Adam Pearson, Adam Scott, Anna Kendrick, Camila Cabello, Celia Imrie, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Gwendoline Christie, Hannah John-Kamen, James McAvoy, James Norton, Letitia Wright, Leo Woodall,...

Emilia Pérez star Karla Sofía Gascón is not expected among the attendees for the BAFTA Film Awards after her racially insensitive X/Twitter posts were uncovered.
Gascón is nominated for Leading Actress at the BAFTAs but is not on a guest list for the night, suggesting that the transgender Spanish performer will skip Sunday’s ceremony. She was the first openly trans actress to be nominated for a BAFTA Film Award.
Gascón has already missed the Critics Choice Awards, PGA Awards, and the Goya Awards, but the BAFTAs is arguably the highest-profile event she will not attend. Netflix and her reps did not respond to requests for comment.
Other Emilia Pérez nominees, including Zoe Saldaña and Selena Gomez (both competing for Supporting Actress), are expected to be in London for the Royal Festival Hall event. Saldaña and Gomez will also present a prize.

James Gandolfini’s portrayal of Tony Soprano in HBO’s The Sopranos remains one of television’s most iconic performances. But while his character wrestled with the burdens of being a mob boss, his on-screen wife, Carmela Soprano (Edie Falco), had her own battles.

As it turns out, Falco, just like Gandolfini, had a difficult past when it came to drugs and alcohol. Although a teetotaler as a kid, she, for years, found herself treating alcohol as the solution to her problems.

The Stay in LA campaign, a call to keep more production in the city, has hit 20,000 signatures with high-profile stars including Andy Garcia and Marisa Tomei joining the call alongside filmmakers including Jonathan Nolan and Paul Feig.

Fans of "The Big Bang Theory" know that, for twelve seasons and the same number of years, Kaley Cuoco brought some much-needed levity to the role of Penny, the beautiful and outgoing aspiring actress who moves into the apartment across the hall from Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki). Penny is basically an audience surrogate who hangs out with a group of intensely nerdy guys with a ton of esoteric knowledge about science and pop culture.
As the resident "normie," Penny translates their nonsense for the viewers and, within the universe of the show, helps all of the guys evolve. Leonard, Penny's on-again, off-again boyfriend, is a much better person after he spends years as Penny's partner. Penny ultimately breaks Sheldon's barriers down to the point where he considers her one of his best friends in the world.

Over its nine-season run, Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David enjoyed corralling celebrities to play themselves on the groundbreaking NBC sitcom "Seinfeld." Who can forget New York Mets great Keith Hernandez getting accused of spitting on Kramer and Newman while also finding the time to romance Elaine ("I'm Keith Hernandez")? Or the time George asked Marisa Tomei out on a date before his deceased fiancée Susan had even been buried? And then there's Jon Voight, who once took a bite out of Kramer's arm in a taxi.
"Seinfeld" was delightfully random in its choice of celebrity cameos, but every single one felt like they belonged in the show's off-kilter universe. This article contains spoilers for "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man."
Everyone knows the origin of Spider-Man; a nerdy kid from Queens gets bit by a radioactive spider, gaining super strong, wall-crawling, web-slinging superpowers he uses to fight crime.
"Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man," the newly-premiered animated series, mixes up the familiar beats. In this version, Peter Parker (Hudson Thames) doesn't get bitten by the spider in a laboratory on a school field trip. On his first day at Midtown High School, Doctor Strange (Robin Atkin Downes) emerges from a portal fighting what appears to be a symbiote monster, if not Venom himself. The spider comes out of the portal, and once the battle is over, bites him. Smash cut to weeks later, when Peter has become Spider-Man.

Plot: An animated series that follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming a hero, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.

Spoilers for "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" to follow.
Who is Peter Parker's best friend? Harry Osborn? Ned Leeds? Johnny Storm? According to the new animated series "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man," it's — Nico Minoru? If you're a casual Marvel fan, you might be thinking: who? Now, Nico is an established Marvel character, but not one who is usually connected to Spider-Man. So why use her? And what can her role in the series so far answer about that?
"Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" is not set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or at least not the so-called "Sacred Timeline." As executive producer Brad Winderbaum has explained, putting the show in the MCU continuity would've been too restrictive.
That said, the show is still using the MCU as a foundation. Peter (Hudson Thames) and Aunt May (Kari Wahlgren) are drawn to resemble Tom Holland and Marisa Tomei,...

When we discuss Hollywood flops, it's important to stress that the term "flop" has nothing to do with the quality of the film. It's strictly about the movie's extreme financial failure. Francis Ford Coppola's "One from the Heart" was a massive flop, but, over 40 years later, it's now considered by many to be an artistic triumph (something to keep in mind as we move further away from the wipeout of 2024's "Megalopolis"). Brian De Palma's "Casualties of War" was a costly bomb for the legendary filmmaker, but the movie received rave reviews at the time and still stands as one of the greatest Vietnam War films ever made. And while Michael Lehmann's "Hudson Hawk" might've thrown a dent into Bruce Willis' commercial reputation, people with exquisite taste have come to recognize its anarchic genius.
When a non-franchise movie flops, my initial instinct is to find a way to stick up for it,...

Comedian and actor Pete Davidson apparently wanted out of SNL just after one season. As many know, Davidson got his big break in 2014 when he was recruited as a cast member in Saturday Night Live at just the age of 20. Although he has made appearances in shows here and there before that, SNL was what turned him into a household name.

In fact, he went on to work for eight glorious seasons in the show before leaving in 2022. He also penned quite a heartfelt letter during his farewell thanking his fellow cast and crew, as well as the audience for supporting him through it all.
As a result, his recent admission that he wanted to leave the show just after his first season has come as quite a shock. What has made it worse is the heartbreaking reason behind it.

Based on Margaret Atwood's seminal novel of the same name, The Handmaid's Tale is bleak by design. Set in the dystopian world of Gilead, it sees June Osborne (Elizabeth Moss), now known as OfFred, join the household of a Commander and his wife. The show never shies away from depicting the horrors of this oppressive regime, with harrowing scenes finding their way into just about every episode of each season.

Mike Milligan, the writer and producer of such award-winning television series including All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Maude and Dear John, died December 20 of acute respiratory failure at his home in West Hills, CA, his reps told Deadline. He was 77.
Milligan, who was a member of the Writers Guild of America for the better part of a century, and his writing partner of 18 years, Jay Moriarty, additionally wrote and produced Good Times, What’s Happening Now, Here and Now and Melba (which he said was “canceled by the network during the commercial break while the pilot aired on CBS”).
As writers and executive producers for Norman Lear’s groundbreaking sitcom The Jeffersons, Milligan and Moriarty received an NAACP Image Award; the show was among the first to tackle such topics as suicide and white supremacy in American comedy programs and was the first-ever TV episode to feature a trans character.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home dropped three years ago during the Christmas season and left fans with a whole lot of emotions to deal with. At the end of the film, like all the alternate universe Peter Parkers, Holland’s Spider-Man also ends up being all alone. Fans also mourned over the death of one of their favorite characters Aunt May, played by Marisa Tomei.

According to the in-universe timeline, Peter would be celebrating his first Christmas without Aunt May in 2024. Fans were already heartbroken for Peter’s lonely life during the climax of the film, where he moves into an empty apartment. The final scene indicates that he would continue his vigilantism, deciding to do it without risking any more lives like Aunt May.

Spider-Man: No Way Home was a stunning conclusion for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy and one of Marvel Studios' biggest hits ever!
The 2021 movie picks up immediately after the shocking cliffhanger to Spider-Man: Far From Home. Spider-Man (Tom Holland) is horrified when the late Mysterio manages to release a doctored video blaming Spidey for Mysterio's own crimes. It also has him revealing his true identity as Peter Parker. That has Peter briefly arrested.
Thankfully, with aid from Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Peter was exonerated from crimes but still dealing with everyone knowing who he was. That put pressure on him, Mj (Zendaya), Ned (Jacob Batalon) and Aunt May (Marisa Tomei). Peter was convinced that MIT wouldn't accept him or his friends because of this and needed help.
Caution: This article contains obvious Spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home

Tom Holland’s portrayal of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has brought fans numerous iconic moments. The threequel, Spider-Man: No Way Home, not only brought the three major iterations of the superhero together but also had some heart-wrenching moments for Holland’s Peter Parker.
Having lost Marisa Tomei’s Aunt May, Holland’s character almost kills the Green Goblin, only to be stopped by Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker. Lost to his thirst for revenge, albeit temporarily, Holland’s character almost brings an end to Green Goblin.
However, even that moment is not the coldest we have seen Peter Parker act, as this House of M storyline may have gone a step further.

Keanu Reeves has starred in many films over the years. Some have been massive hits while others could have seen better outcomes. What nearly all of them had in common was the fact that the actor had willingly been a part of them and was therefore somewhat linked to whatever fate it saw.

However, what happens when the actor is tricked? When his wish to aid a film in its success ends with him being put in legal shackles and forced to ride out a project that he never wished to lead.
This is exactly what happened to Reeves’ 2000 film, which allegedly did him an insult of the highest regard after using him for his stardom.

Warning: Contains spoilers for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1!
Before the Disney+ debut of Marvel's new Spider-Man series, an official comic book prequel surprisingly ties this version of his origin to another young Marvel hero. Though a few iconic characters have been teased to appear in the series, one of Marvel’s Runaways, Nico Minoru, is now integral to the new Peter Parker’s beginnings as a superhero.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1 – written by Christos Gage, with art by Eric Gapstur – kicks off the animated series' prequel by showing Peter Parker’s fateful radioactive spider bite with an interesting twist, as it is revealed that this version of Peter’s superhero origin happens at the very moment that he’s meeting Nico Minoru.
The two form a closer friendship as the issue unfolds, and it’s clear that Nico will be an important part of this take on Spider-Man’s lore.

Marisa Tomei, who is attending the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia this week, is looking for film and stage roles that address the themes confronting women in the post #MeToo era, she tells Variety.
Tomei, who won the 1993 Oscar for best actress in a supporting role for “My Cousin Vinny” and received Oscar nominations in the same category for “In the Bedroom” in 2002 and “The Wrestler” in 2009, plays an outspoken psychologist in Ann Marie Allison’s debut feature “You’re Dating a Narcissist!,” now in post. When it came to playing Glinda in the big screen version of the Broadway musical, Wicked, it was a no-brainer that Ariana Grande would hit all the right notes with her four-octave vocal range.
But where the frequent Saturday Night Live and Sam & Kat thespian rallied for many was in her sheer, subtle and sublime comedic timing as Glinda the pink witch in the Jon M. Chu directed movie. Herein lies the fruit of Grande’s labor: In her first Golden Globe nomination for Supporting Female Actor in a Motion Picture. Her nom was one of four today for Wicked including Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and Cynthia Erivo’s Best Female Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.
As one Universal insider beamed to us at the premiere about Grande, she’s reminiscent of “Barbra Streisand” in both her song and her silly.

The 1992 comedy "My Cousin Vinny" is a perfect movie, but it could have been totally different — in that two Hollywood A-listers nearly played two of the main roles.
As the movie opens, New Yorkers and college students Bill Gambini and Stanley Rothenstein — played by Ralph Macchio and Mitchell Whitfield, respectively — accidentally steal a can of tuna from a convenience store called the Sac-o-Suds, and when the police corner them, they confess. What they don't know is that the clerk at the Sac-o-Suds was shot and killed right after they unwittingly shoplifted, so they end up confessing to the murder ... at which point Bill's cousin Vincent Laguardia Gambini (Joe Pesci), a newly-minted lawyer, comes to their rescue. According to an oral history of the movie in Rolling Stone, Macchio and Whitfield were not the first choices for Bill and Stanley; the roles were nearly played by Ben Stiller and Will Smith.

"My Cousin Vinny," the 1992 comedy courtroom film, is great for a lot of reasons, Marisa Tomei chief among them. Tomei's character, Vinny Gambini's (Joe Pesci) foul-mouthed but very supportive fiancée Mona Lisa Vito, comes in clutch in the film's final act, providing the expert testimony required to exonerate the wrongfully-arrested defendants. Even critics who didn't love the film, like Roger Ebert, were happy to praise Tomei's performance. "Tomei's surprise appearance as an expert witness is a high point, and left me feeling I would like to see this couple again," Ebert wrote in his review, "Maybe in a screenplay that was more focused."
Despite this, when Tomei won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance in the film, she had her fair share of haters. Because she was the least established actor nominated that year, and because Vanessa Redgrave was considered the favorite for her performance in "Howard's End,...

However, while he was still trying to break into WWE, Theory did some work as an extra in various Hollywood productions based in Atlanta, Georgia. Among them was Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The WWE Superstar played a prison inmate during the movie's mid-credits scene when Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton) and Mac Gargan (Michael Mando) come face-to-face. According to Theory, they shot that sequence in a legit prison...with real inmates behind bars!
"That was a crazy day," he recently told Chris Van Vliet. "They were actually in the Jackson prison in Georgia. We went down there. We put on prisoner outfits and everything,...

Despite his many memorable leading man performances over the years, Jude Law has at least one regret in his filmography.
The 2x Oscar nominee recently reflected on director Charles Shyer’s 2004 remake of Alfie as a “bad move” for his career following Academy Award-nominated performances in Cold Mountain (2003) and The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999).
“I was in a really strong position [at that time] because I’d just had another [Oscar] nomination on the back of Cold Mountain, and for Alfie to be the film I chose to do quite soon after that, I think was a bad move,” Law told British GQ.
After Michael Caine portrayed the titular playboy in the original 1966 film, followed by Alan Price in the 1975 sequel Alfie Darling, Law was left underwhelmed by an early screening of his own rendition.
“I just felt it hadn’t elevated [the material] and felt a little light, a little too cheesy,” he admitted. “I think...

I know I'm not alone in hoping that Agatha Harkness returns to the MCU soon after her Agatha All Along success, but I've just realized one detail that makes it especially important. Agatha Harkness is a relatively minor character in Marvel Comics, debuting as a nanny to Franklin Richards, the son of Reed and Sue Richards in Marvel Comics. She goes on to train Wanda Maximoff with her magic, making her MCU characterization as her nemesis a stark departure from comic book precedent.
This isn't the only way the MCU significantly changed Agatha Harkness. While Kathryn Hahn is arguably one of the McU's best-loved actresses and an excellent casting decision for the most part, she looks nothing like her comic book counterpart. Thankfully, the Agatha All Along finale rectified this glaring discrepancy - but it speaks to a longstanding issue in Marvel Movies that now makes Agatha's continued involvement in the MCU more important.

Typecasting is a prevalent issue in the entertainment industry that not even the best of them can avoid. Oscar-winning actress Marisa Tomei knows this all too well. With a variety of roles under her name, she has unfortunately fallen prey to the claws of the typecasting nightmare and as it turns out, she too regrets it all.

Those who have been closely following the actress’ work can vouch for the fact that Hollywood has unfairly boxed her into playing the “mom role” that just cannot seem to leave her alone. From Aunt May to Pete Davidson’s mother in The King of Staten Island, Marisa Tomei really regrets going down the road.

If you’re like most people, you’ve probably spent a lot of time watching escapist entertainment. But “escapist” doesn’t mean “pointless.” Every work of art has something to say, whether it means to or not. If anything, the art we make to calm our anxieties speaks volumes about what makes us anxious in the first place, if only by omission. Even the shallowest superhero movies imagine a world where justice is achievable within a couple short hours, and not just one possible outcome of a miserable bureaucratic obstacle course that’s designed to hurt more people than it protects.
And then there are romantic comedies like “Meet Me Next Christmas,” the latest in a long line of cheerful, often interchangeable holiday rom-coms, which imagine a world where we have the time, money and job security to focus entirely on finding true love in late December, instead of panicking...

The best William H. Macy movies and TV shows feature some of the 1990s best independent films and work on both big-budget and mainstream TV shows throughout his career. Macy studied under playwright David Mamet at Goddard College, which gave him not only his first break but also a great start as a filmmaker and creator. After graduating, he moved on to collaborate with Mamet.
This connection led to a few smaller movie and TV roles before he finally got his first big break in 1996 when he signed on to the Coen Brothers movie Fargo as one of the key characters. He then caught the eye of P.T. Anderson, who cast him in two of his early masterpieces, Boogie Nights and Magnolia. Since then, Macy has become a legitimate star in movies and on TV, where he found a second life as the patriarch on the long-running Showtime series Shameless.
