Synopsis

Mel Brooks wrote and directed three of the greatest movie comedies of all time: The Producers, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. But when Brooks was asked about his favorite scene that he ever directed, he named a comedy bit that wouldn’t come up on most fans’ top 10 lists.

“Let me give you one of my movies that I love. I’m really proud, for sure, of this insane comedy I made called Dracula: Dead and Loving It,” Brooks boasted to the Daily Beast, via Far Out.

The scene in question? “Steven Weber is driving a stake through Lysette Anthony’s heart. Mel Brooks is playing Van Helsing. I say to him, ‘Drive the stake through her heart! Hit her hard.’ So he drives the stake through her heart.”

What happens next is Python-esque in terms of gross-out physical comedy. “There’s an incredible gush, an incredible fountain of blood that sprays him.

The late Peter Yates' 1983 fantasy epic "Krull" is a fascinatingly strange bouillabaisse of ideas. Like "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe," it blends medieval wizardry with high-tech science fiction. The story follows a brave hero named Colwyn (Ken Marshall) who has to rescue his kidnapped bride Lyssa (Lysette Anthony) from a giant, evil monster known only as the Beast. Tapping into the fantasy aspects of the story, Colwyn and Lyssa have shared fire superpowers, passed between them via a magical baptismal font at their wedding. Once Lyssa is kidnapped, Colwyn is tasked with finding a mystical, five-pronged weapon called the Glaive, a shuriken version of Excalibur. There is a magical shapeshifter, a cyclops, and on-screen wizardry. The Beast's Black Fortress is protected by a spell that causes it to relocate entirely every day. Liam Neeson played a jocular, axe-throwing bandit named Kegan. He was recruited by Colwyn to be a member of his fellowship.

For the bulk of his career, Leslie Nielsen was best known for his stern, dramatic roles. His tall stature and low voice had casting directors offering him parts as commanders, leaders, and even heavies. Many might recall Nielsen's stone-faced turn in 1956's "Forbidden Planet" as the captain in "The Poseidon Adventure," or playing a cop in the 1972 cop drama "The Bold Ones: The Protectors." In 1977's "Day of the Animals" he plays a manly outdoorsman who loses his mind and, quite darkly, declares insane dominion over animals and women. Some might recall that he can hold his breath a long time, as he declared in "Creepshow." Many will be shocked to witness Nielsen beat and assault Barbra Streisand in the 1987 drama "Nuts."

Following Weinstein’s sentencing, 24 Silence Breakers — women who have spoken out against sexual misconduct by the movie mogul and other men in power — released the following statement:

Validation, relief, gratitude and pride — those were some of the emotions expressed by a group of women who came forward with allegations of sexual assault at the hands of Harvey Weinstein in response to the disgraced producer’s conviction on Monday for rape and sexual assault.

The group of more than 20 women held a conference call Monday afternoon to share their reaction to the news earlier in the day that the once-powerful movie producer will likely face a minimum of five years in prison after being convicted on two of the five sexual assault charges he was facing.

“Today is a powerful day and a huge step forward in collective healing,” said Rose McGowan, who has accused Weinstein of raping her in 1997.

“The era of impunity for powerful men who rape people is over,” said Mira Sorvino, an Oscar-winning actor who saw her career derailed after allegedly rebuffing Weinstein’s advances.

A group of Harvey Weinstein’s alleged victims has issued a statement condemning remarks made by his attorney Friday night on ABC’s Nightline.

Weinstein appeared in a Manhattan court Friday for a bail hearing. Prosecutors sought to have his bail increased to $5 million from its current $1 million, arguing he violated his terms by allegedly tampering with an ankle monitor. NBC News on Thursday night denied an accusation by a former producer that top executives tried to block Ronan Farrow’s 2017 exposé of Harvey Weinstein, calling the claim “an outright lie.”

“The assertion that NBC News tried to kill the Weinstein story while Ronan Farrow was at NBC News, or even more ludicrously, after he left NBC News, is an outright lie,” read the NBC statement.

Earlier Thursday, Rich McHugh, a producer formerly of the NBC News investigative unit, told the New York Times that people at “the very highest levels of NBC” worked to quash the story at the network.

McHugh said the network was “resistant” during the eight months or so that he and Farrow investigated Weinstein for the story. But in August 2017, when they were set to begin recording the accounts of Weinstein accusers on video, McHugh said the network abruptly pulled support.

The actress, 57, claims the movie mogul exposed himself to her in the early 1990s while working on Love Crimes, which was produced by Miramax.

Harvey Weinstein is under investigation for rape after an Italian model-actress reportedly gave a detailed account of an alleged sexual assault to the Los Angeles Police Department.

“Robbery Homicide Div has interviewed a potential sexual assault victim involving Harvey Weinstein in 2013. Investigation ongoing,” the Lapd tweeted on Thursday.

Lena Headey is recalling her encounters with Harvey Weinstein and how uncomfortable the Hollywood producer made her feel when they first met.

The Game of Thrones star recounted in a series of tweets posted on Tuesday that she first met Weinstein at the 2005 Venice Film Festival, where they were screening her film, The Brothers Grimm, claiming the producer asked her to take a stroll.

"I walked down with him and he stopped and made some suggestive comment, a gesture, I just laughed it off," Headey, 44, wrote, also alleging that she was "subjected to endless bullying by director Terry Gilliam." "I was genuinely shocked. I remember thinking, ‘It’s got to be a joke,'" she added.

She then suggested that they go back and grab a drink with the people they came with, noting that since the alleged incident she "was never in any other Miramax film."

Kate Winslet says she intentionally did not thank Harvey Weinstein during her Oscars acceptance speech.

When Winslet took home the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2009, for her performance in The Reader, she did not mention Weinstein, whose company financed and distributed the drama.

Speaking with the Los Angeles Times, Winslet said the omission was "absolutely deliberate."

British actress Lysette Anthony is the latest woman to come forward with accusations of rape and sexual assault against Harvey Weinstein.

In an interview with the Sunday Times published on Sunday, Anthony alleges that the movie mogul attacked her in her home in London in the 1980s, saying that she reported the rape allegations to police last week.

The 54-year-old actress -- who currently stars as Marnie Nightingale on the British soap opera Hollyoaks -- described the alleged attack as "pathetic and revolting" and said she spent years trying to forget it.

Anthony said she first met Weinstein in 1982 while starring in the sci-fi fantasy Krull. The two became friends, and one night she came to a house he rented in London. Anthony claimed, "The next thing I knew he was half undressed and he grabbed me."

A team of officers has been established to look into the alleged crimes, which are said to have taken place in London in 1992, 2010, 2011 and 2015, as well as an allegation of sexual assault previously passed on to the Metropolitan police by Merseyside police, which relates to the late 1980s.

Sexual assault investigators at Scotland Yard are adding three more claims of rape to their investigation of Harvey Weinstein, the Metropolitan Police announced Sunday. According to The Guardian, police are investigating allegations from a woman claiming Weinstein sexually assaulted her on three separate occasions between 2010 and 2015. Beginning with an August 9 comedy special, the upcoming series will feature different themes each week.

Four teams of two from the world of music, TV, soaps, sport, food and drink, journalism, radio and theatre will compete for charity in weekly specials to air on Saturday evenings on BBC One.

The first show pits Lesley Joseph and Linda Robson from Birds of a Feather against Ronni Ancona and Phil Cornwell, Su Pollard and Ruth Madoc, and Josh Widdicombe and his partner Sara Pascoe.

Since he first appeared at age 12 in the wedding sequence of The Godfather, Nick Villelonga has appeared in 31 movies as an actor. Some of his roles included small parts in The Pope Of Greenwich Village, Prizzi’S Honor , and Goodfellas. His first script, Deadfall, co-written with director Christopher Coppola, was made into a feature film starring Nicolas Cage, Michael Biehn, and James Coburn in 1993. Nick then went on to write and direct independent films such as A Brilliant Disguise starring Lysette Anthony and The Corporate Ladder starring Ben Cross.

Now Nick Villelonga has directed the western Yellow Rock starring James Russo and Michael Biehn. It will be playing at the St. Louis International Film Festival on Friday, Nov 16th at 7:00pm at the Wildey Theatre and Sunday, Nov 18th at 4:15pm at the Hi-Pointe Theatre.
