(1991) Nana Patekar had written a script about a politician (Amitabh Bachchan) and his mentally challenged younger brother (Kamal Hassan). The film was titled "Yagya" and Nana Patekar was going to direct the film.There were plans to also sign Dimple Kapadia and Madhuri Dixit. The movie was dropped when Amitabh decided Khuda Gawah would be his last release.

(1977) There was a shelved film Emkay Films Pvt Ltd "Aasman" Starring Waheeda Rehman, Dharmendra,Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha,story and screen play by Salim Javed, produced and directed by Mohan Kumar. When the film kept getting delayed due to problems, Mohan Kumar gave Salim and Javed their script back. The film was eventually made as "Zamana" with Rajesh Khanna and Rishi Kapoor.

(2009) Starred in the shelved movie "Exclusion"( Kamagata Maru) Starring Amitabh Bachchan (Later replaced by Akshay Kumar),John Abraham (Earlier Akshay Kumar was doing this role),Manisha Koirala,Mahima Chaudhary, Terrence Stamp,Seema Biswas, Padma Lakshmi,Music by A.R.Rahman, Written and Directed by Deepa Mehta.

(2010) Starred in the shelved movie S.L.B. Productions "Chenab Gandhi". Based on freedom fighter Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan. Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Rajeev Khandewal ( The role was first to be done by Harman Baweja, then John Abraham), Music by Vishal Bhardwaj, Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali,Directed by Vibhu Puri.

(2014) Starred in the shelved movie "Garden House". Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Directed by Shoojit Sircar.

(2008) After Phir Hera Pheri, the plan was to make a film titled "Hera Pheri 4" or "International Hera Pheri". The inside joke would be the characters would keep referring to incidents that happened in the fictional "Hera Pheri 3". In reality Hera Pheri 4 would be the actually "Hera Pheri 3". The number 4 would be used just to make a humorous joke that the audience did not get to see a "Heri Pheri 3". Amitabh Bachchan was approached with the script of Hera Pheri 4. He heard the script and agreed, but the film was put on the back burner for a while.

(1989/1991)Starred in the shelved movie, Lakshmi Productions untitled film. Starring Amitabh Bachchan,Aamir Khan, Rajnikanth,Pooja Bhatt, Produced by A.Purnachandra Rao,Directed by Aabavanan (Aabaran).

(1986) "Bachchan Recites Bachchan". A album was released where Amitabh recited poems of his father Harvansh Rai Bachchan.

(1984/1985) Subash Ghai had signed Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Lilliput as the villain for a film titled "Sher Bahadur". It was to be directed by Subhash Ghai. The film never got made.

(1987) Distributor Raj Chopra had bought the Hindi rights of Malayalam movie Yagaswam. He was going to produce the film with Amitabh in the lead role. Talk was on for the original director T. Hariharan to direct the film. The project was called off.

(1976 - 1982) Dilip Kumar had another dream project titled 'O Baba Jaan' (Baba Jaani) for which he had crafted nine different versions of a script on schizophrenia and wanted the film to be directed by the well-known Marathi director Jabbar Patel. When the film was announced in 1976. it was to be made under Dilip's banner Citizen Films Internationals. Starring Dilip Kumar,Rakhee Gulzar, Dr.Shreeram Lagoo, Utpal Dutt, Cinematography by Kamal Bose, Art by Sudhendu Roy, Music by Salil Chowdhary, Produced by Dilip Kumar, Directed by Jabbar Patel. Baba Jaan was probably the name of a horse which the protagonist with split personality rides in the nights. When Dilip became too old for the role,he spoke to Amitabh Bachchan and Amitabh agreed to work in the film. The story had a riveting, suspense plot about a schizophrenic banker's diabolic bid to rob a bank. Dilip Kumar had several meetings with Jabbar Pater, but somehow the film did not get off ground. The dream project sadly dropped.

(1981) Starred in shelved film titled "Daaman" or "Daman" in 1981 ; Starring :- Amitabh Bachchan , Shatrugan Sinha , Rishi Kapoor , Neetu Singh , Zeenat Aman & Praveen Babi with Raj Kapoor & Vinod Khanna in a cameo & special appearance in the film. ; Written & Produced by - Nanabhai Bhatt & Robin Bhatt ; Directed by - Mahesh Bhatt. ; but due to date issues problems , the project got shelved.

(1985) Starred in shelved film titled "Kashmakash". Starring :- Amitabh Bachchan (in a Double-Role) , Anil Kapoor , Raj Kiran , Poonam Dhillon , Mala Sinha , Om-Prakash & Amrish Puri with his brother Madan Puri. ; Written & Produced by - Nanabhai Bhatt. ; Directed by - Mahesh Bhatt. ; the film got shelved & called off the floors.

(1985) Paradox Cinema" Productions shelved movie titled "Jaahil" ; Starring :- Amitabh Bachchan , Praveen Babi , Rakesh Roshan , Ramesh Ahuja , Kader Khan & Vijay Shukla with Ranjeet. ; Music by - Kalyanji-Anandji. ; Written by - Kader Khan. ; Produced by - Paradox. ; Directed by - Rakesh Roshan (himself). formerly Kader Khan.

(1990) Shemaroo Films" Productions shelved movie titled "Captain" ; Starring :- Amitabh Bachchan , Jackie Shroff , Hema Malini , Meenakshi Sheshadri & Amrish Puri with Alok Nath. ; Music by - Nadeem-Shravan. ; Produced by - Shemaroo. ; Written & Directed by - Rakesh Roshan. ; but due to some undisclosed reasons. ; the film got shelved.

Starring :- Amitabh Bachchan , Rishi Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt , Arshad Warsi (as a junior artist) Meenakshi Sheshadari , Dimple Kapadia & Zarine Hasan Agha with Kader Khan , Amrish Puri & Anupam Kher. ; Music by - Rajesh Roshan ; Written by - Salim Khan ; Produced by - Anwar Ali. ; Directed by Mahesh Bhatt/Chand.

(1975) Lekh Tandon was going thru the hardest phase of his career. He went bankrupt after turning producer with Jahan Pyar Mile. The producer of Andolan signed Lekh Tandon for rupees 1000. Lekh Tandon wanted Amitabh Bachchan for the film. He narrated the subject to him and he agreed. But the producer signed Rakesh Pandey. Lekh stated that he regretted missing the chance to work with Amitabh.

(1974) In 1974 M.G. Ramachandran had planned a huge film to be made in Hindi and Tamil. It was titled "Saari Duniya Hamari Hai".He wanted the star cast of Raj Kapoor,Sydney Poitier,Amitabh Bachchan, Zeenat Aman,Pran, Radha Saluja. M.G.Ramachandran was to direct the Tamil version while K.Shankar was to direct the Hindi version. It was to be made in Nairobi and was based on the subject of racial problems. Sydney Poitier heard the subject and agreed to work for free. The project eventually fizzled out.

(1989) Amitabh started in Lakshmi Productions shelved film "Bada Aadmi" in 1989. The film starred Amitabh Bachchan and Bhanupriya in lead roles.The film was to produced by A.Purnachandra Rao and directed by T.Rama Rao. It was shelved because the film was south remake about house servants. They felt the script would not suit Amitabh.

(1973) Starred in Yashraj Films shelved movie "Gardish" (Zindagi Ki Rang) (Starring Amitabh Bachchan,Parveen Babi, Neetu Singh,Produced by Yash Chopra, Directed by Pran Mehra. The film was based on a brother and sister. Neetu Singh played a village girl who comes to the city to meet her brother Amitabh. The film was shelved to start Deewar.

(1989) Amitabh Bachchan had signed Yokohama Films "Karazdaar". Starring Amitabh Bachchan and Mehmood. Produced by Anwar Ali and Joy Augustine. The film was later called off.

(1983/1984) Amitabh Bachchan had signed Cinema International's "Lambaee Chaudee". Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Amjad Khan, Music by Rahul Dev Burman, Produced and Directed by Amjad Khan. The film was later shelved.

(1983) Amitabh Bachchan was assigned a film to official direct for Prakash Mehra. It was announced in the trade magazine October 1983 issue. The film was Prakash Mehra Productions "Kaayar". Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Pradha, Kunal Goswami, Komal (Rupini), Suresh Oberoi, Ranjeet, Om Prakash, Pran, Written by Kader Khan, Laxmikant Sharma, Prakash Mehra, Music by Kalyanji Anandji and Bappi Lahiri, Produced by Ajitabh Bachchan, Satyen Pal Chaudhary, Prakash Mehra, Directed by Amitabh Bachchan. The film would go on for several years with different changes.

The movie was dropped when Amitabh decided Khuda Gawah would be his last release. Nana had plans to restart the film with himself in the lead in 2001. All plans were once again dropped.

The film was shelved due to being over budget.
