You know that fake commercial in Tropic Thunder where Tugg Speedman and the Scorcher franchise keep coming back again… again… and again? That’s pretty much the Terminator franchise by 2019. Where over and over again it respawns and says “I’ll be back… but this time it’ll be different. It’ll be a re-imagining! Accompanied by another trilogy. No, this time we’re back with the old cast! And it’ll be like before!” It’s like Jim Carrey yelling at Matthew Broderick in The Cable Guy “I can fix it! I can make it cool again, Stephen!” But will they? For some! Not for all. This is the story of what happened to Terminator: Dark Fate. The film that may have killed the Terminator movie franchise for good.
When Terminator Genisys performed poorly at the domestic box office, Skydance Productions (which suspiciously sounds like Skynet) was left with a choice.

Believe it or not, Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert Downey Jr. dated for seven years before calling it quits for good. However, their relationship was far from smooth sailing. Parker had to navigate the complexities of being with a man who was dealing with significant challenges during that time, largely due to his struggles with addiction.

Over the years, Sex and the City has become synonymous with Sarah Jessica Parker, whose portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw became iconic over the show’s six seasons. With the series and films focusing on her girl gang’s closeness and her love life, there were a lot of cameos from many popular actors. However, the one face that everyone expected to see was the 59-year-old’s husband, Matthew Broderick. Unfortunately, that was just a fever dream that never ended up coming true.

Matthew Broderick appears to be a serial guest star, with appearances in recent years on Only Murders in the Building, Rick and Morty and Modern Family. But he never turned up on Sex and the City, despite his wife Sarah Jessica Parker being the series star. What’s the deal, Broderick?
There are a couple of reasons, he told James Corden on his This Life of Mine Sirius Xm Show (via People). Scheduling conflicts were one. “Whenever there was a part that I could do,” he claimed, “I couldn’t do it is really all that happened.”
But it might have had more to do with a second reason — the kinds of roles the show was offering him. “Sometimes, it was like, ‘Do you want to do two days as the premature ejaculator?’ And I’d be like, ‘You know, I don’t know, it’s just kind of embarrassing.

Matthew Broderick may not have appeared in Sex and the City — but he wanted to.
The actor and husband of Sarah Jessica Parker, who starred in the HBO series, stopped by James Corden’s This Life of Mine show on SiriusXM. During his conversation with the former late night host, the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off star was asked if it was true he was asked to be in the romance drama multiple times and opted not to.

While it would’ve seemed likely that Parker approached him about guest starring in her show, that was never the case.

Disney+ is expanding their live streaming options, introducing four channels: Hallowstream, Hits & Heroes, Throwbacks, and Real Life. While Disney+ does currently have “non-stop playlists”, this expansion will aim to reach a wider audience within their subscriber base while fulfilling the niches within the service.
Last month, Disney+ introduced ABC News Live and Disney+ Playtime, which is geared towards the pre-school-aged audience. In their initial announcement of these, the House of Mouse also teased versions of the four aforementioned channels. For Seasonal Content, expect “a collection of seasonal-themed content”, so in this case you can anticipate a stream of movies like Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown and maybe even Mr. Boogedy.
Hits & Heroes is now evidently a twist on Epic Stories, which offers “a compilation of action-packed stories from marquee brands and franchises, including Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars.” Throwbacks, on the other hand, will play off of some of the studio’s most iconic animated and live-action,...

Federal agents arrested hip-hop mogul Sean “P. Diddy” Combs in September 2024 following the Homeland Security raid on two of his homes in March 2024. Combs was charged with sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Now, we’re looking back at interviews that gave a glimpse into Combs’ life before his arrest. Here’s what he said about the pajama birthday party he couldn’t remember.

Ryan Murphy's "Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story" debuted on Netflix on September 19, 2024. The series recounts the details of the Menéndez brothers' murder of their parents, José and Kitty, in 1989. Those alive and watching the news at the time recall what a blazingly salacious affair their trial was. Beginning in 1993, CourtTV broadcasted extended portions of the time the brothers spent in court (they were tried separately), and the details began to sound like a daytime soap opera. The brothers said that José Menéndez was sexually abusing Erik, and that he threatened to kill them both if they told the cops. Kitty never stood up to him, so the brothers felt no other recourse but to kill them with a shotgun in preemptive self-defense. After the murders, but prior to the arrest, the brother had rather suspiciously begun living richly on their sizable inheritance.

Back in the 1980s, when the idea of wealthy sociopaths flagrantly breaking the rules was considered hilarious, we got Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, the iconic comedy starring Matthew Broderick as the titular teenage rebel.
The movie, of course, finds Ferris skipping class by faking an illness, thanks to the power of mannequins and synthesizers. While most of us would be happy to spend a day off in that sweet bedroom, Ferris, along with his girlfriend Sloane and best friend Cameron, heads into Chicago, where he catches a baseball game, visits an art gallery and hijacks a float during a crowded parade that’s happening in the middle of a workday for some unknown reason.
Ferris justifies his deceit by pointing out “life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once and awhile, you might miss it.”

Jon Bernthal (“The Bear”) won his first ever Emmy Award for Best Comedy Guest Actor at Sunday night’s Creative Arts ceremony in downtown Los Angeles. He had received his first nomination last year for playing the late brother Michael Berzatto of lead actor Jeremy Allen White‘s character Carmy.
For this weekend, he defeated Matthew Broderick (“Only Murders in the Building”), Ryan Gosling (“Saturday Night Live”), Christopher Lloyd (“Hacks”), Bob Odenkirk (“The Bear”) and Will Poulter (“The Bear”). According to Gold Derby odds, he was predicted to win at 31/10 odds ahead of Gosling in this guest star category.
According to the official description of his FX episode on the Emmy ballot: Mikey, the eldest Berzatto sibling, wrestles with inner turmoil amid strained relations with Uncle Lee. Less than a year after Sam Richardson (“Ted Lasso”) won his first Best Comedy Guest Actor Emmy on his second consecutive try, Jon Bernthal (“The Bear”) is poised to do the same. Whereas the category’s 2023 lineup included an even mix of veteran and rookie nominees, Bernthal is the sole returning contender this time and has thus emerged as quite a strong frontrunner.
Bernthal currently faces opposition from fellow “The Bear” actors Bob Odenkirk and Will Poulter as well as Emmys newcomer Ryan Gosling (“Saturday Night Live”) and former TV movie acting nominee Matthew Broderick (“Only Murders in the Building”). Kurt Russell was everywhere in the '80s, but there was one 1985 film he can't be spotted in despite having originally signed on for it. It's "Ladyhawke," the largely forgotten fantasy epic starring a pre-"Ferris Bueller" Matthew Broderick alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and Rutger Hauer. Directed by "The Omen" and "The Goonies" filmmaker Richard Donner, "Ladyhawke" received a lukewarm welcome at the box office and critical reviews to match.
So, how did Russell end up dodging this bullet? Well, apparently, by sticking to his no-tights rule. The actor once spoke about exiting the film in an interview with Whitney Scott Bain for Starburst Magazine, and confessed that a few factors led to his decision not to see the project through. "When I got there, I see wardrobe and the character has to wear tights," Russell explained, adding plainly: "I don't wear tights. That's not for me." Coming from anyone else,...

By triumphing on his second consecutive Best Comedy Guest Actor Emmy bid for “Ted Lasso” last winter, Sam Richardson stunned nearly every Gold Derby user predicting the race, over half of whom were convinced he would lose to Jon Bernthal (“The Bear”). Whereas Richardson was recognized for a performance over 20 times the size of Bernthal’s, his winning screen time of almost six and a half minutes is lower than that of every actor now looking to inherit his crown.

Midway through the fourth season of Only Murders in the Building, NYPD Detective Williams (Da’Vine Joy Randolph) complains once again about how true-crime podcasters Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) keep stumbling their way into and through murder investigations. Her objection isn’t just to these three civilians consistently putting themselves in danger and interfering with the work of real police, but with the shoddiness of their sleuthing, which this time around has produced so many suspects that they need multiple murder boards to fit them all.

Yes, you read that right. Selena Gomez is the best part of Only Murders in the Building.
Now that Season 4 is upon us, I thought I would reflect a bit on what keeps me tuning into this quirky little show week after week.
The short answer to that is Mabel Mora, played by Selena Gomez.
(Patrick Harbron/Hulu)
I’m not a Selenator and I have no interest in Gomez’s personal life or struggles. That’s her business.
What I do care about is how much enjoyment I get out of watching Gomez play Mabel and why we need more of her and fewer distractions that take away from the dynamic that made the show so appealing to begin with.
Mabel is Tenacious
Mabel stays on point when it comes to the focus of the show, which is to solve murders. Everything else is fluff.

Alexander Payne is not a super prolific filmmaker. Sure, most everything he directs ends up earning acclaim and awards recognition, but he just doesn’t direct all that often. In the past 25 years since the release of his acclaimed “Election,” he’s only made six more features. But that might be changing, as the filmmaker is headed to Europe for a new film.

Alexander Payne’s Election is a movie whose reputation seems to be growing more and more each year. With a new Criterion Collection edition in stores (and the film celebrating its 25th anniversary), Payne and the film’s writer, Jim Taylor have recently been exploring a potential sequel. The original film was based on a novel by Tom Perrotta, and the sequel would be based on his most recent novel, Tracy Flick Can’t Win.
According to a recent interview in Deadline, Payne is seriously considering teaming with Payne to adapt the sequel, saying, “There is talk and Jim Taylor and I are conceding that now,” with him adding, “If there were to be a sequel to Election, what would that look like?”
The original film starred Matthew Broderick as a high school Social Studies teacher who becomes hellbent on destroying her campaign for student body president at her high school.

Tom Cruise gave the Paris Olympics closing ceremony a Hollywood flair when he dove off the top of the Stade de France to mark the handover from the Paris Olympics to the L.A. Games in 2028.
After H.E.R. played the U.S. national anthem, the actor jumped off the roof of the Stade de France — the country’s biggest stadium — and landed on stage. He was welcomed with deafening cheers and greeted by L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, who was handed the Olympic flag by Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo during the bash. He then hopped onto a motorcycle with the flag in tow and rode out of the stadium to make the symbolic delivery to L.A. As the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “By the Way” played in the background, Cruise rode down the Paris streets and drove into a plane. In a pre-recorded segment, he then parachuted out of the aircraft,...

Denzel Washington is about as accomplished an actor as you can get. Not only does the man exude effortless on-screen charisma in a way few others have, he's proven he can play pretty much anything you throw at him. From an unstoppable action hero in the "Equalizer" movies to a troubled, brooding Shakespearean general in the expressionist nightmare that was Joel Cohen's "The Tragedy of Macbeth," Denzel can simply do it all.
Now, it seems Washington will make yet another big impression in "Gladiator 2," with the actor set to play Macrinus, a power broker and arms dealer who aids Paul Mescal's Lucius Verus II in his quest to topple Rome. It should be yet another triumph for Washington, who no matter what he's in, seems like one of the safest bets a director can make.
With this kind of distinguished career, it's pretty much impossible to pick...

"Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is one of the best teen movies of all time, but it also (perhaps purposely) tells its story from a very privileged point-of-view. I adore the John Hughes classic, yet the last few times I've watched it, I've been struck by how terribly Ferris (Matthew Broderick) treats the customer service workers he meets throughout the film. It's all a part of his schtick; to craft the perfect day off, he has to get access to all sorts of fun stuff, and the quickest way to do that is by putting on a haughty, rich-white guy persona that he probably learned from his dad.
It may be blasphemous to even consider adding a new layer to a perfect Hughes-made story, but if someone's going to do it, it may as well be a filmmaker who's interested in approaching the material from a truly fresh angle. Enter: "Sam and Victor's Day Off,...
