After Barr’s dismissal following her racist tweets directed at Obama administration official Valerie Jarrett, the reworked sitcom sans title character was the #1 new comedy for the 2018 season, and, though The Conners suffered the same gradual drop-off that most sitcoms see in later seasons, ABC is reportedly eyeing 2025 for the release of the seventh and final season of the now-John-Goodman-led comedy.

This means that, in some alternative universe, Sabrina Carpenter is currently getting ready to send off her Conners character Harris Conner-Healy with grace, and Emma Kenney released the song of the 2024 summer with “Espresso.”

Television series can be creative laboratories, especially early in their runs. The creators and their writing staff might find their initial concept morphing into a completely different type of show (e.g. "Cougar Town" went from being a Courtney Cox vehicle about older women chasing younger men to an ensemble sitcom about nerdball friends who drink a ton of wine), while some shows head down narrative alleys they ultimately pretend never existed (like the time Landry and Tyra killed a guy during the second season of "Friday Night Lights").

Gilliland died Sunday of colon cancer in New York City, his sister, Lisa, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Gilliland’s career started in the 1980s, when he was a member of the production staff during the first season of the Sherman Hemsley-starring sitcom Amen and as a writer and story editor on Who’s the Boss?

He relayed the unusual story apparently in an effort to get ahead of a New Yorker piece on the incident. The publication published the profile this morning, including a photo of Kennedy putting his fingers inside the bear’s mouth.

After the Grammy Award nominee’s voice cracked throughout her rendition of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ at the MLB‘s T-Mobile Home Run Derby on Monday in Arlington, Texas, she quickly became meme fodder on social media.

“Wow! @IngridAndress actually did it, she united America,” wrote one person on X (formerly Twitter) with a screenshot of multiple people on the platform criticizing the performance.

The great Martin Mull passed away recently, leaving behind a prodigious comedic legacy that included Fernwood 2 Night, Clue and that one scene in Jingle All the Way — not to mention his oddball discography and acclaimed fine art career. Most remembrances of Mull, though, singled out his work in Roseanne, where he played Roseanne Conner’s boss/frenemy Leon.

Less well-known is Mull’s role in another Roseanne-produced project, 1992’s The Jackie Thomas Show, a short-lived sitcom starring Tom Arnold as the unhinged star of a fictional sitcom.

Mull played a network executive who once worked at NBC, where he tried to cancel Cheers before it became a hit. “A bunch of slobs sitting around a bar, who knew?” he asked in the pilot episode.

Created by Arnold and Roseanne, the series featured guest stars that included Roseanne herself, as a crazed fan, and Chris Farley, as Arnold’s younger brother.
