2025 is reportedly about to bring a first for the Star Trek franchise
Image
2025 may bring a significant first for the Star Trek franchise that’s long overdue for fans and collectors alike!

Star Trek was one of the first sci-fi properties to work merchandising well. The original TV show had its collection of dolls, sets, and other items that grew with the franchise. There are action figures, statues, life-sized props, and pretty much every type of merchandising imaginable has been used for Star Trek.

The one major toy-themed item Star Trek has never had? Legos.

It was in 1999 that the Lego company first started creating sets based on entertainment with the Star Wars theme. It was an immediate hit, and today, Lego produces sets for Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, DC Comics, Marvel, Avatar, and more. There are smaller sets and figures for movies like Wicked and even TV shows like Seinfeld.

Yet, somehow, Star Trek has never gotten an official Lego set.

Jason Momoa Remembers When He Almost Died Surfing in Hawaii: ‘I Literally Gave Up’ | Video
Image
“Aquaman” and “Chief of War” star Jason Momoa went on “Smartless” Monday, where he told the harrowing story of a near-death surfing experience at the Jaws surf break in Maui. At the time, the actor didn’t think he would make it out alive.

“We paddled 13 miles down the coast, and you’re kind of almost a mile offshore, and then my leash snapped,” Momoa recalled of his trip with friends. “It’s so windy on Maui, and so the board just went. I couldn’t even see it anymore.”

He sat down with “Smartless” hosts Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes to discuss his career amid the premiere season of his new Apple TV+ project, “Chief of War.” Roughly 17 minutes into the episode, Momoa talked about the nearly fatal trip that changed his life.

“Wait, so tell me, when you’re in that position of almost drowning, what...

Captain America 4 Star’s Dystopian Comedy Is Killing It on Peacock
Image
The second season of Anthony Mackie’s Twisted Metal has just been released, and it is dominating Peacock. While Anthony Mackie is best known for playing Captain America, he has several other notable works that are better examples of his acting skills, and this series is one of them. Even though the season has just been released, Flixpatrol shows that it is the second most-watched series on its streaming platform, sitting just behind Love Island.

While it is difficult to compete with reality television, Mackie’s series is certainly giving tough competition. Starring several notable names like Stephanie Beatriz, Neve Campbell, Will Arnett, and even Thomas Haden Church, season two of the series seems to be doing even better than the first, and the numbers are showing it perfectly.

Twisted Metal showrunner has plans for seasons 3 and 4
Will Arnett and Joe Seanoa in Twisted Metal (2023)
When the TV series based on the popular video game franchise Twisted Metal made its premiere on the Peacock streaming service back in July of 2023, it quickly became one of Peacock’s top five original series, racking up 400 million viewing minutes in its first weekend and earning the honor of being the streamer’s “most-binged” premiere. Season 2 (read our review Here) is now making its way out into the world; it premiered with three episodes on July 31st, and those are being followed by new episodes every Thursday through August 28th. Peacock hasn’t yet renewed the show for any further seasons – but during an interview with The Direct, showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith (who was a writer on Cobra Kai) has confirmed that he has plans for seasons 3 and 4!

Anthony Mackie’s ‘Twisted Metal’ Season 2 Earns Surprising Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
Anthony Mackie may be the new Captain America in the MCU, but that isn’t going to stop him from burning rubber in his hit Peacock series. The first season of Twisted Metal premiered almost two years ago and was an instant hit, earning scores of 67% from critics and 93% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The first three episodes of Twisted Metal Season 2 debuted last week, and it earned a stunning 94% from critics but 76% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. With nine episodes remaining, there's still plenty of time for these scores to change, especially considering the different release model. After Peacock released all episodes of Twisted Metal Season 1 at once, Season 2 will release new episodes weekly going forward. Two episodes will premiere weekly every Thursday until the final three episodes of the season debut on August 28.

Twisted Metal Season 2 picks up shortly after Season 1, with John Doe (Mackie) and Quiet (Beatriz...

CinemaBlind’s Review – 95%

Twisted Metal is back, and it is even better than its first season. The post-apocalyptic action comedy series proved that it could be extremely entertaining in its first go-around, but with its brilliant Season 2, it has now become one of the best video game adaptation series of all time.

Developed by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Michael Jonathan Smith, the Peacock series is based on the video game franchise of the same name by Sony. Season 2 of the Peacock series continues the story of John and Quiet as they finally enter the titular vehicular combat competition hosted by the campy yet menacing Calypso.

In its first season, Twisted Metal had everything from great characters to the blood and gore, people loved in the games, but it didn’t have what actually made the games so...

Netflix Renews 'Long Story Short' Despite Season One Not Being Out Yet
Image
Show renewals are hard to get nowadays. Several factors influence a series' chances of growth. Many networks and streamers look for high audience viewership, how much the show gains traction in the media, especially on social apps, the financial side (how costly it is to make the show), etc. Whatever doesn't yield a return on its investment gets the "doomed" canceled tag. Yet, there are times a show hears the sweet sounds of renewal, even before season 1 becomes available. Netflixjust made the rare decision to renew Raphael Matthew Bob-Waksberg's upcoming animated comedy, Long Story Short, weeks before its users can stream the debut season.

It seems like the streamer believes it'll be love at first sight with Netflix users and the new animation, which is set to premiere on August 22, 2025. According to The Hollywood Reporter, season 1 will have 10 episodes, and they'll be thirty minutes long each. News of the...

'Twisted Metal' Season 2's Rotten Tomatoes Score Finally Revealed
Image
After two long years, Twisted Metal finally returned to Peacock today with the first three episodes of Season 2, and it brought along with it a rip-roaring Rotten Tomatoes score. Debuting back in 2023, the series is a live-action adaptation of the hit video game franchise published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, with MCU star Anthony Mackie portraying the lead, John Doe.

Hitting Rotten Tomatoes with a 91% rating from critics, Brian Tallerico from RogerEbert.com noted that while the first season seemed aimed at fans of the video game series, Season 2 "feels like an honest effort to satisfy both fans of the games and those who never played them." Twisted Metal Season 2's Rotten Tomatoes Score Leaves Season 1 in the Dust
Image
After a two-year wait, the new season of Twisted Metal is finally arriving. Season 2 is set to debut on July 31, but ahead of the premiere, early reviews have started coming in, giving the show a higher score on Rotten Tomatoes than the first time around.

Currently, Twisted Metal Season 2 is holding an approval rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. This is notably much higher than the 67% score that was earned by the freshman season, though it's also worth mentioning that Season 1 has a 93% score from the audience. Season 2 won't have an audience score until after the new episodes debut, so it remains to be seen how much fans will agree.

In any case, it's off to a great start. Critics are saying that the new season is even more bonkers than the first, but that this is a good thing. Twisted Metal is perhaps a show that thrives the more it...

Twisted Metal Season 2 Review: A Bigger, Bolder, and Bloodier Ride
Image
If the first season of Twisted Metal was the greasy appetizer that set the table, season two is the chaotic, high-calorie main course fans were promised. The titular tournament is finally upon us. The series returns to its distinct post-apocalyptic landscape, a world where society collapsed sometime around the Y2K scare, leaving behind a graveyard of Blockbuster stores and a populace with a deep appreciation for ’90s pop hits.

Our hero, John Doe, finds himself restless inside the pristine walls of New San Francisco, discovering that safety is a poor substitute for freedom. On the outside, Quiet has found a new purpose with the masked Dollface crew, led by John’s own sister. Meanwhile, the show’s mascot of mayhem, Sweet Tooth, continues his bloody road trip across the wasteland, with his terrified but surprisingly resilient sidekick Stu in tow.

Their disparate paths are violently yanked together by the arrival of Calypso,...

Video game adaptations don’t have the best track record, but Peacock’s Twisted Metal was a breath of fresh air, taking the games’ premise and using it to create something rather different. ‘Lego Masters’ Season 5 Winners Sage & Ian Summers Open Up About Emotional Win
Image
“It all comes down to this.” Words Will Arnett said during the Season 5 Lego Masters finale one last time. That is before Nick Cannon takes over hosting duties of the bricktacular Fox competition next year. There were weeks of fun challenges from movie themes such as Star Wars, Wicked and Batman to making masquerade masks, items from Arnett’s younger years and builds that move a ping pong ball from one team creation to another. In all, 11 teams narrowed down to a Top 3. The high-fiving siblings Ian and Sage Summers, fun-loving educators Joe Cherwink and Anthony Amoo, and strapping young bros Ben and Michael Grayson worked hard to impress experts Amy Corbett and Jamie Berard. During the “Hall of Fame Finale” episode on July 28, they were tasked with crafting their master build signature. Ian and Sage ultimately walked away with the $100,000 cash prize, Lego trophy and title of Lego Master.

Coyote vs. Acme gets a summer 2026 theatrical release date
David Zaslav
David Zaslav may be hellbent on erasing the iconic Looney Tunes properties at Warner Bros. (including removing the classic Merry Melodies shorts from the Max streaming service and demolishing the Looney Tunes building), but Ketchup Entertainment here to save the day. They released the Looney Tunes movie, The Day the Earth Blew Up, and recently acquired Coyote vs. Acme, which was once destined to be scrapped for a tax write-off, like Batgirl and other projects that Warner Bros. threw in the trash. Ketchup previously let it be known that they’ll be giving Coyote vs. Acme a theatrical release sometime in 2026, and now more information has been revealed at a San Diego Comic-Con panel – including the fact that the movie’s release is still over a year away! The official global release date is August 28, 2026.

Chris Pratt’ and Will Ferrell's 96% Rotten Tomatoes Comedy Is Leaving Streaming Very Soon
Image
Over a decade ago, Chris Pratt starred in the first The Lego Movie, the very one that began the iconic franchise inspired by the famous line of construction toys. Released in the U.S. in February 2014, the film was an instant favorite among critics, who gave it a fresh 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Ten years later, it landed on the popular streamer Netflix, precisely on June 1, 2024, after which it garnered even more attention from both old and new fans. Sadly, the film’s time on the platform is coming to an end very soon, with reports confirming only a few days left before its removal.

What’s on Netflix has learned that The Lego Movie is set to depart from Netflix U.S. on August 1, joining a list of fellow hit movies and TV shows, some of which have stayed longer on the streamer. A few titles listed are Conan the Destroyer...

‘Twisted Metal’ Season 2 Will Be Just as Bonkers as Season 1, According to New Update
Image
Hang onto your seats! Twisted Metal will return to Peacock at the end of this month, with Anthony Mackie’s hit action series premiering the first three episodes of its second season on July 31. Ahead of Twisted Metal Season 2, Peacock has released another trailer highlighting just how unhinged things are about to become in this post-apocalyptic world for Mackie's John Doe. Season 1 was a brilliant hit with both critics and audiences alike, as represented in the scores on the aggregator website, Rotten Tomatoes. There, the action series came in at 67% with critics and 93% with audiences. Now, ahead of Season 2, it has been revealed how the beginning of Season 2's story will play out.

The series is based on the Twisted Metal video game franchise, and it looks poised to deliver on all the mayhem and violence for which the games were loved. While the first season functioned primarily as a world-building and character introduction phase,...

Three Decades of Terror: The Evolution of Sweet Tooth Ahead of ‘Twisted Metal’ Season 2
Image
Mascot characters have been known to change over time in order to better suit the ever-shifting needs of their parent franchise, and this is especially true in the world of video games. From Lara Croft being turned into a younger and more vulnerable human being to Kratos going from kill-crazy monster to a loving father, I’d argue that there’s no better way of judging how a series has adapted to the world around them than by taking a closer look at their star character.

One series that went through quite a few interesting iterations happens to be Sony’s beloved car-combat series Twisted Metal. And in honor of the latest season of Peacock’s Twisted Metal streaming show bringing Samoa Joe and Will Arnett back for another stab as the live-action incarnation of our favorite Killer Clown in an Ice-Cream truck, I’d like to invite readers to...

15 Best Shows Like BoJack Horseman
Image
"BoJack Horseman," created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg, may have talking animals and copious puns, but it's also a dark reflection of addiction and the pursuit of fame. The best "BoJack Horseman" episodes know how to masterfully maneuver between comedy and drama, and the show refuses to give its audience any easy answers. BoJack (Will Arnett) is not a good individual, as his self-destructive tendencies often cause him to push any friends he has away. This often gets juxtaposed with whatever silly adventure his roommate Todd (Aaron Paul) gets into, like joining an improv-based cult.

Fans likely tuned into "BoJack Horseman" expecting some silly cartoons revolving around a satirical Hollywood, but it was so much more than that, becoming one of the most profound shows of the 21st century. The show got six seasons to wrap up its story, but you may still feel a horse-shaped void in your heart. Fortunately, there...

Taika Waititi Didn’t Join Marvel For The Fame But For The Paycheck, & Here’s Why He Owned That Choice

Taika Waititi Says He Took the Thor Gig for the Money, Not the Marvel Dream—And He’s Not Sorry About It(Photo Credit –Instagram)

Taika Waititi didn’t step into the Marvel universe because he wanted to play the superhero game. The Oscar-winning filmmaker, known for his sharp wit and bold visuals, was never chasing the cape or the spotlight. He just had a different reason altogether and yeah, it had a lot more to do with real life than red carpets.

On the SmartLess podcast with Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes, Waititi pulled no punches about how he landed the job. No fluff, no fake hype. He said it straight: “You know what? I had no interest in doing one of those films. It wasn’t on my plan for my career as an auteur.” But he took the gig anyway and the reason? Not love for the character,...

What Is Long Story Short? BoJack Horseman Creator Returns on Netflix
Image
Recently, Netflix has been doubling down on its animated content, which has been an amazing move. After all, its recent film, KPop Demon Hunters, has been turning heads and getting praise from The Academy. This probably pushed the streamer to renew its other popular show, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, for a standalone Season 2.

However, that was just the beginning because Netflix has decided to bring Raphael Bob-Waksberg, the creator of BoJack Horseman, for another original project. This time, he will not limit himself to a single character but will engage in the family dynamics with his Long Story Short.

The Cast and Plot of Long Story Short

When Netflix first premiered BoJack Horseman, back in 2014, the world was taken aback watching a talking horse struggling with his mental health. The series was entertaining, yet it left us introspecting about ourselves and our relationships, which made it stand apart.
