- She and then-husband Burt Bacharach wrote the song "On My Own", about a failed romance. This was recorded by Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald and reached the Top 20 in 1986. Their marriage lasted several years longer.

- When she and then-husband Burt Bacharach wrote "That's What Friends Are For" (1982), Carole had written the lyrics: "I never thought I'd feel this way . . . ," but when Burt was adding the melody, he insisted that "And" be added to the very beginning, a decision that irked her for some time until she ultimately agreed that this better suited the overall meter of the intro.
