CBS’s half-hour comedy Poppa’s House is bringing in another Wayans. The network confirmed Marlon Wayans will appear as a season one guest star when the series returns from its winter break in 2025.

Per CBS: “Marlon will play Poppa’s brother Melvin, a bit of a ne’er do well who comes to visit the family with a new business idea. Poppa is quick to warn everyone not to trust him, while Ivy (Essence Atkins) and Junior want to believe he’s changed.”

The Scary Movie franchise has officially been resurrected... for better or worse!

Following April's CinemaCon announcement that a reboot of the horror parody series was in development, Deadline is reporting that a sixth movie is moving forward with the original creative team of Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans back on board.

Keenen Ivory wrote and directed the first two films, while Marlon and Shawn contributed to the scripts and also starred. It's unknown if the brothers will assume the same roles this time.

Fans are hopeful that Anna Faris and Regina Hall will return to lead this new movie, but there's no word on casting just yet.

Created by Keenan Ivory Wayans, the sketch comedy series In Living Color was a smash when it first aired. It nabbed the Emmy in its category for its debut season, beating out the likes of SNL, David Letterman, and Tracy Ullman. But that would only last so long, as the key players behind the show—the Wayans Brothers—had a falling out with the network, ultimately leading to a short run.

The show, which ran from 1990 to 1994, also featured Marlon’s other siblings, Damon Wayans, Kim Wayans and Shawn Wayans, and helped launch the careers of several other Hollywood notables including Jennifer Lopez, Jim Carrey and Jamie Foxx.

While there is certainly no shortage of reasons to hate Harvey and Bob Weinstein, you can add “the way they treated the Wayans family” to the staggeringly long list.

Paramount Pictures is resurrecting the once-popular Scary Movie spoof franchise with a brand new reboot movie that’s expected to slash into theaters in 2025, but can we expect any stars of the original franchise to reprise their roles? Chatting with People this week, Scary Movie mainstay Anna Faris comments on what it would take to bring her back to the franchise.

Anna Faris starred alongside Regina Hall in the first four Scary Movie installments, with Faris playing Cindy Campbell and Hall playing her character’s best friend, Brenda Meeks. And it sounds like Faris doesn’t plan on returning unless Regina Hall is also asked to return.

“I would love to work with Regina [Hall] again. I just love her so much,” Faris answered when the outlet asked her what it would take to get her to sign on. “We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer.

Paramount announced a reboot of the famous Scary Movie franchise and Anna Faris may become a part of it if her two conditions are fulfilled. One, of course, is good money and the second is the participation of her co-star Regina Hall. Faris and Hall portrayed Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks in the first four films in the franchise.

Faris revealed in a recent interview that she loved working with Hall and would love to reprise the role if Brenda Meeks would also return. Fans are rooting for the pair as well since it was these two recurring actresses who played a huge part in these films becoming a near-$900 million success.

A few months ago, Paramount and Miramax announced that they are reviving the Scary Movie horror parody series to bring a Scary Movie 6 to theatres sometime in 2025 – and that announcement has inspired us to go back and revisit the earlier entries in the franchise. Marlon Wayans is breaking his silence following reports that his Los Angeles house was robbed on Saturday.

The comedian and actor shared a video on Instagram where he thanked everyone who reached out to him to make sure he was Ok after news of the robbery broke and said that everyone is doing fine, which he’s grateful about.

“I want you to know that they didn’t really get much because I don’t own shit,” he said in the minute-long video. “The most valuable thing in my house is my house. So, unless you’re gonna put that shit on a truck and drag it away, then, yeah, man, you did well, but I don’t own shit. I don’t wear jewelry. This [ring] is fake. … It’s a heart rate monitor.”

He continued, “I’m not flashy. No jewelry. No necklaces. I don’t have cash. I use credit cards.

Actor Anna Faris famously collaborated with Shawn and Marlon Wayans in the popular Scary Movie franchise. But with the film being one of her first projects, she remembered feeling a bit insecure when seeing one of her more glamorous co-stars.

Keenen Ivory Wayans took a bit of a gamble when he cast newcomer Faris for Scary Movie. Before the hit comedy, Faris only had two other acting credits to her name. One of which was the 1996 drama Eden, and the other being the 1999 slasher Lovers Lane. Both genres were pretty far away from the comedies Faris would be famous for doing. But the Wayans brothers were having a difficult time finding the right actor for Cindy. After getting a glimpse of Faris, however, they thought she might be perfect for the role despite her shoddy audition.

Hollywood has had its fair share of good and bad cinematic projects, with some even exceeding the bar to be termed as “racist” or “controversial”. One of these movies was the 2004 comedy/crime White Chicks, starring the renowned Scary Movie actor Marlon Wayans. This film recently celebrated two decades of its existence and, in the meanwhile, also ended up sparking a heated debate.

It was announced two weeks ago that Paramount is resurrecting the Scary Movie spoof franchise with a brand new reboot movie, which will likely arrive in theaters next year.

The new movie, a joint venture between Paramount and Miramax that will technically be the sixth installment in the franchise, is expected to go into production this coming Fall.

We don’t yet know who will be writing, directing or starring in the Scary Movie reboot, but two actors in particular have already expressed an interest in joining the franchise.

The first is Melissa Barrera, who can currently be seen in theaters in Radio Silence’s bloody horror movie Abigail. Barrera is of course also the star of Scream and Scream VI, which kind of makes her a perfect candidate to lampoon herself in a Scary Movie reboot.

Infamously taking the original title intended for the first Scream film, the spoof Scary Movie arrived in cinemas all the way back in the summer of 2000, and promptly outgrossed the film that it was basically taking the piss out of. Along with its first sequel, that arrived a year later, it was directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans, and the modestly-costed films returned sizeable profits.

Not that they were much cop after the first film. David Zucker took over for Scary Movie 3 and Scary Movie 4, in 2003 and 2006 respectively, and both in truth veer on the ‘best forgotten’ side. It took seven more years before we got Scary Movie 5, with Malcolm D Lee this time directing, and the quality of that film seemed to have driven the franchise into the ground for good.

The Scary Movie franchise — which parodied popular horror films like Scream and The Ring — is getting a reboot.

The horror-comedy spoof series began with the titular Scary Movie in 2000, and now, it’ll be resurrected by Paramount Pictures and Fast & Furious producer Neil H. Morris. Per Variety, Paramount is also partnering on the film with Miramax, the studio behind the original Scary Movie franchise.

The new film is slated to go into production in the fall of 2024, and will land in theaters in 2025. The original series spawned five films, four of which starred Anna Faris and Regina Hall. The first two films were directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans, with spoof-titan David Zucker directing the third and fourth installments. The final Scary Movie film arrived in 2013 — meaning the new reboot will have 11 years-worth of popular horror films to parody.

Deadline reports that the Miramax label at Paramount, which is now operating under new boss Jonathan Glickman, has given the greenlight to a new Scary Movie sequel, with the plan being to get the film into theatres sometime in 2025. With the Scream franchise back in theaters and the horror genre continuing to kick ass at the box office, you knew it was only a matter of time before the Scary Movie saga returned.

Variety reports this afternoon that Paramount is resurrecting the Scary Movie franchise with a brand new reboot movie, which will likely arrive in theaters in 2025.

Variety notes in their report, “Paramount Pictures announced that it is partnering with “Fast and Furious” mega-producer Neal H. Moritz to resurrect the dormant franchise. Scary Movie is going into production in the fall of 2024, and should hit theaters in 2025.”

“Scary Movie is also being made as part of the Paramount’s first look partnership with Miramax, the studio behind the film franchise. Miramax will fully finance the production, with Paramount handling distribution,” Variety further details in today’s report.

Dimension Films, a former genre label of Miramax, originally released the Scary Movie comedies during the early aughts grossing north of $896M through five movies.

The original movie was directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans, and co-written by his brothers Shawn Wayans and Marlon Wayans as well as Buddy Johnson. The Scream and horror movie comedy satire in the spirit of Airplane! launched Anna Faris into stardom, opening to $42.3M and in July of 2000, and finaling at $157M domestic, and $278M global.
