Don’t let the name fool you.
Fox Nation shares a Manhattan headquarters with Fox News Channel, but it doesn’t aspire to occupy the same niche as its conservative-tilted cable parent. Rather, the subscription streaming service has enlisted big Hollywood names to provide programming aimed at attracting its Gen X-focused audience.
Kevin Costner, Martin Scorsese, Rob Lowe and Kelsey Grammer have all made shows for Fox Nation in recent years. Of course, there is some political content on the service too, drawing upon Fox News’ resources and profile. Conservative activist Riley Gaines and commentator Tomi Lahren are both featured talent on the streamer. But Fox Nation wants to carve out its own space, one that isn’t wholly aligned...

Former Weekend Update anchor Bill Murray returned to Saturday Night Live on the show’s 50th anniversary special to list his top 10 anchors — none of whom were the man next to him, Colin Jost.
First, Murray poked fun at how there has only been one Black anchor of the segment: Michael Che, who has had the role alongside Jost since 2014.
“In honor of Black History Month, I want to start by ranking the African American weekend update anchors,” Murray said, presenting a board with just one name slot. “We’ll start with number one,...

“SNL50” brought the return of several veterans of the show, and sparked countless lists and rankings of the show’s history. So, Weekend Update opted to kill two birds with one stone, bringing back Bill Murray to rank all the hosts of the news segment of the show.
Of course, this was after Cecily Strong’s Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With at a Party returned, as well as Bobby Moynihan’s Drunk Uncle. Turns out, those two are married now, and Girl is actually Donald Trump’s new press secretary.
Seth Meyers even returned to talk to Lorne Michaels’s “best friends from growing up,” played in all their catty glory by Vanessa Bayer and Fred Armisen. But Murray was the closer, and he wasted no time in naming his favorite anchors.

The “Weekend Update” segment at the “SNL” 50th anniversary special on Sunday brought back legendary cast member Bill Murray to rank the segment’s past hosts.
Murray started by ranking “Weekend Update’s” Black hosts, which put current co-host Michael Che at number one — by virtue of the fact there has only been one Black host in the show’s history.
Murray then went through a top 10 ranking of the “regular” hosts of “Weekend Update.” Murray immediately took himself out of the running for the ranking, due to the fact he was on performance enhacing drugs. “It’s what we called an ‘8H Shaker,'” Murray said. “Quaaludes, cocaine, and Nighttime TheraFlu.”
Colin Quinn came in at number 10, followed by Kevin Nealon, Dennis Miller, and Seth Meyers. “I’m gonna put Tina and Amy just ahead of Tina and Jimmy,” Murray continued. “Jimmy, I’m sorry, and congratulations Tina. It...

Despite their vastly different backgrounds, Olivia being a New Age girl who’s into crystals and sage and Francis being a lapsed Catholic with a conflicted past, they seem to make things work. They settle into their new home, trying to leave behind their families and their judgment of their choice to forgo marriage and simply live together.
Francis’ mother is still deeply religious and does not approve of this arraignment. She sends them nasty letters and postcards condemning their choice to “live in sin.” Meanwhile,...

Saturday Night Live is one of the longest-running television shows of all time, but it has caused quite a bit of controversy throughout its 50 years on screen. 2025 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the popular comedy show, and there are multiple specials about Saturday Night Live's anniversary coming out in January and February of this year. One of them, SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night, was just released and touches upon some of the most iconic and oddest moments from the show.
SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night was primarily focused on celebrating the history and achievements of the show rather than on identifying the controversies and scandals that have taken place over the show's several decades, though. The docuseries did explore the "weird year" of Saturday Night Live (referring to season 11 of the show), but SNL has received much more significant backlash for some of its decisions than it did for that unpopular season.

‘Inhabitants’ is a horror movie written and directed by Matt McClung (‘The Mad Whale’). The cast includes Todd Robert Anderson (‘You’re the Worst’), Ana Auther (‘Goats’), Kevin Scott Allen (‘American Primeval’), and Kevin Nealon (‘Saturday Night Live’).
Set to release on February 14, ‘Inhabitants’ offers an eerie alternative to typical Valentine’s Day movies. It will be available digitally and on demand.
Recently, the trailer for the movie was released and you can check it out below:
The movie follows Olivia and her boyfriend Francis as they move to California together, despite their families disapproving. Francis’s mother, Lillian, a strict Catholic, strongly opposes their decision and sends them violent, religious-themed postcards to show her anger.
Their new life together takes a dark turn after Francis has a freak accident, leaving him physically and mentally affected. He starts having night terrors, talking to someone invisible, and sleepwalking in unsettling ways. Olivia...

If you sign into BetterHelp and see that your licensed therapist is Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels, best to close the app and try again. The guy might know how to keep a sketch comedy show on its feet for 50 seasons, but he’s definitely not qualified to help anyone through a mental health crisis.
Take the case of Bill Hader. The veteran cast member has been pretty open about his debilitating stage fright on SNL, once having a panic attack while playing Julian Assange during the live show. When an anxious Hader returned to host SNL, according to a New Yorker excerpt from the new biography Lorne, a snappy Michaels stopped by the comedian’s dressing room with some dubious advice: “Calm the fuck down. Just have fun. Jesus Christ.”

Now set for release in February for anyone curious about it. A young woman moves in with her lapsed Catholic boyfriend, going against the wishes of their respective family members. But Francis soon ends up suffering from night terrors - whispering in his sleep to a figure Olivia cannot see and sleepwalking to strange corners of the house. Her investigation leads to a terrifying and perverse discovery; they are being haunted by the ghost of Francis's childhood youth minister - an entity who is enraged by their cohabitation and has come to punish them for their sins. “Saturday Night Live” creator Lorne Michaels is the subject of Susan Morrison’s upcoming biography “Lorne: The Man Who Invented Saturday Night Live,” a lengthy excerpt from which was published by The New Yorker and reveals Michaels’ hot and cold relationship with the ever-changing cast over the years. Michaels may be the boss of “SNL,” but he wasn’t always a loving paternal figure.
Alec Baldwin, who has hosted “SNL” 17 times and had a stint playing Donald Trump, told Morrison that Michaels is “Darwinian” in his management style in that “Lorne just stands back and lets them cannibalize each other.” But Morrison writes that Michaels “is flexible about the talent-management aspect of his producer role. Different personalities, he believes, require different approaches.”
“To some, Michaels will bark, ‘Don’t fuck it up,'” Morrison continues. “Bill Hader, who is prone to anxiety attacks, remembers Michaels coming to his dressing room when he hosted and snapping,...

Travis Kelce is not only making another Super Bowl run with the Kansas City Chiefs in hopes of a three-peat but is also racking up his acting credits.
The NFL star is set to make an appearance opposite Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore 2 and recently opened up about what it was like to work with the comedian.
“That was a dream come true,” Kelce said on The Pat McAfee Show. I thought SNL was going to be the peak of my acting and showman or entertainment career … working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman and Happy Productions, it was off the chain.”
He continued, “They’re so professional and yet so fun to work with. I felt like I was working with like the Andy Reid of the acting world. [Sandler] is every bit as cool off the screen as he is on the screen. That was a dream come true.

Father sure doesn’t punish the kids like he did back when we were young. At least, that’s what David Spade believes about current cast members’ relationship with Saturday Night Live daddy Lorne Michaels.
On the latest episode of Spade’s Superfly podcast with Dana Carvey, the two SNL veterans expressed utter shock about the state of Michaels/cast relations. “Sarah Sherman's like, ‘Then I texted Lorne and said, ‘Why did my sketch get cut?’” said Spade. “I’m like, ‘You text Lorne?’”
Spade was floored at the sheer audacity of a cast member communicating with Michaels without sitting outside his office for hours.
“As a cast member?” exclaimed an equally flabbergasted Carvey. “During the show?”
Spade’s incredulity didn’t end there. He told another Sherman story about the Church Lady sketch he appeared in as Hunter Biden last month. Michaels got on a microphone (another “we...

For many comedy writers, working at Saturday Night Live would be the ultimate career accomplishment. But for Conan O'Brien, his tenure was filled with regret.
O'Brien's time at Saturday Night Live was really just the beginning of his career. His talent ensured it was a launching pad and not a peak. He went on to write for The Simpsons and later became perhaps the most beloved late-night TV host in the genre's history. Add in a successful podcast, travel show, and plans to host the Oscars, and O'Brien's made a pretty nice career for himself since leaving SNL.
However, O'Brien's career could have looked much different had he taken a different approach to his job at Saturday Night Live. He explained his regrets to Tom Hanks during a November 2024 episode of Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend.
“People always say no regrets. I regret being so intense about that job. Yeah.

It's no coincidence that there is a direct line from Saturday Night Live to hosting a late-night TV show. SNL producer Lorne Michaels has his hands in multiple shows, and the same talents that make someone a standout SNL cast member translate to a host gig.
Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Fallon, and Seth Meyers have all carved out impressive careers behind a late-night TV desk. And all three got their chance thanks to working with Lorne Michaels on Saturday Night Live. Consider the crossover among writers, and you have even more proof that SNL can make someone a star.
However, three current late-night TV stars had a shot at joining Saturday Night Live only to see things fall apart. It didn't curtail their careers too much ... but it's fun to imagine where they'd be had their SNL auditions been successful.

From Canteen Boy to Opera Man, Adam Sandler was one of the baddest of the so-called Bad Boys of SNL. And while a lot of people couldn’t stomach the antics of that generation of players, that was the era I came up on and so have a special place for SNL cast members like the Sandman, David Spade, Chris Rock, and Chris Farley. So when there was a Studio 8H reunion between Sandler and Rock on this weekend’s episode of SNL, it hit the spot.
With Chris Rock serving as host for the fourth time, it might have seemed obvious that at least one other SNL alum would pop up; fortunately, it turned out to be one of the most successful ever, with Sandler making a surprise appearance in the “Gallbladder Surgery” sketch. In the bit, Sandler plays the patient to Rock’s surgeon, waking up only to have punctured an artery.

Saturday Night Live has served as a launching pad to TV superstardom (Tina Fey and Bill Hader), dominance at the box office and even #1 music albums (Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi). But not every SNL star goes on to greater showbiz heights.

“Nonexistent problem, ineffective solution.”
This was the sage advice legendary writer Jim Downey would give to young writers like David Mandel when they were working on commercial parodies for Saturday Night Live. “That was often the key to a great commercial parody,” says Mandel, who wrote on the show from 1992 to 1995. “I loved making the commercial parodies. The chance to go off and make a little film was the opposite of SNL. You could edit it and be precise with it. It was exciting.”
Mandel got to write a number of commercial parodies during his three-year run on SNL, but his four favorites are below.

The premise was simple: It was a guy eating yogurt, and the announcer keeps telling him, “That’s not yogurt,” but he won’t tell him what it is so the person gets very paranoid. It was my pitch, but Downey...

The popular game show is a variation of tic-tac-toe and features celebrities called upon to help contestants answer questions for an “X” or “O” in their square.

For 50 years, Saturday Night Live has invited the biggest names in movies, TV, music, comedy, sports, and more through its doors to host. And while everyone will debate who the Goat SNL host is, one story makes a pretty clear case for who should be considered the worst Saturday Night Live host of all time.
Not everyone who gets the spotlight in Studio 8H delivers. Sketch comedy is hard. Live sketch comedy in front of millions of people watching from home is even harder. But the general consensus is that if a host is game and willing to try different things, you can't ask much more of them. It's when things go the other way that a host goes from a bad fit to a disaster.
That sounds like the case when Steven Seagal hosted Saturday Night Live on April 20, 1991. If you weren't around to see the episode, just take...

Gravitas Ventures has acquired U.S. and Canadian rights to the religious horror film “Inhabitants” from Brick Lane Entertainment. Written and directed by Matt McClung (“The Mad Whale”), Gravitas plans to release the film on digital and video on demand in February 2025.
Cast members include Anna Jacoby-Heron (“Stranger Things”), Josh Andrés Rivera (“American Sports Story”), Ana Auther (“Shadow Brother Sunday”), Todd Robert Anderson (“Good Girls”) and Kevin Nealon (“Man with a Plan”). According to the official logline, the film follows “a young woman who moves in with her lapsed Catholic boyfriend, only to discover that they’re being haunted by the vengeful ghost of his childhood youth minister.”

The Just Go with It cast is full of A-list movie stars like Adam Sandler and Nicole Kidman and acclaimed comedy talents like Kevin Nealon and Rachel Dratch. A remake of the classic 1969 farce Cactus Flower, Just Go with It reimagines the tale of lies and deception as a feel-good romantic comedy. A cosmetic surgeon recruits his office manager and her kids to pose as his family to woo his latest love interest. In line with rom-com traditions, true love is right in front of the main character as he falls for his fake wife.
Just Go with It was one of Adam Sandlers biggest hits at the box office, grossing roughly $215 million worldwide (via Box Office Mojo). This story of a fake marriage turning into a real marriage also marked the first on-screen pairing of Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. After establishing terrific on-screen chemistry in Just Go with It,...

These days, it’s fairly common for Saturday Night Live cast members to appear in commercials, like how Colin Jost decided to shill for Amazon while rubbing his awesome life in all of our faces.
And it’s not all that weird to see Kenan Thompson taking an animatronic bear for a spin in a Thrifty rental car. Okay, it’s a little weird.
But there was a time when SNL-ers were actually forbidden from appearing in any ads while they were working on the show. Real ads, that is; spots for Colon Blow and Oops! I Crapped My Pants were obviously still cool.
As Dana Carvey recently revealed in an episode of the Fly on the Wall podcast, Lorne Michaels’ commercial ban meant that the Master of Disguise star missed out on launching one of the biggest campaigns in the history of advertising.

Most people would know if a coworker was pretending to have sex with them. But as we learned on this week’s Fly on the Wall podcast — and several other times over the years — Victoria Jackson is not like most people.
When Jackson and Dana Carvey were on the show together, the cast needed several ways to relieve tension, Carvey revealed. “So much tension,” agreed Jackson. One method was gathering in the office shared by Carvey and Kevin Nealon, reveling in impromptu dance parties to the strains of the Pretenders’ “Don’t Get Me Wrong.”
Jackson had another method of relieving all that stress, according to Carvey. “You and (Jon) Lovitz would always have — just in a PG-13 way — simulated sex.”
That was news to Jackson. “Oh, I didn’t know we were having sex, by the way.”
How could she forget? Carvey provided a reminder (and another page for...

Given that Bill Clinton spent two terms as president in the 1990s, it was almost impossible for him not to be an SNL staple throughout the decade. In fact, Clinton provided so much material for the show over those years that he was played by two different cast members: Darrell Hammond and, of course, the late Phil Hartman. That said, of all the SNL sketches lampooning Clinton over that nearly 10-year period, one is continually cited above all the rest — his impromptu stop at a local McDonald’s as president-elect.
Once inside, he glad-hands with patrons while eating off their plates and explaining detailed policy measures. While most of the dialogue relates to issues very much from 1992, it’s still remarkably funny, mostly because of the spectacle of Clinton (portrayed here by Hartman) obnoxiously eating as he says all these wonky things.
The sketch was the brainchild of SNL stalwart Al Franken...

Former Saturday Night Live cast member Melissa Villaseñor is opening up Owen Wilson’s time as guest host on the NBC late-night sketch show.
The comedian has impersonated the Wedding Crashers actor on her YouTube channel and sketches for Más Mejor. Villaseñor recalled that when Wilson hosted SNL’s Season 47 premiere in 2021, she brought up the idea of impersonating him alongside him, but he denied the request.
“He hosted, and I asked him if we could do the Owen impression together,” Villaseñor said on Dana Carvey and David Spade’s Fly on the Wall podcast. “He was like, ‘I feel like it’s done. I feel like people, it’s over.’ He didn’t want to do it.'”
The story prompted Carvey to remember a dinner with Wilson, Lorne Michaels, and Kevin Nealon, “And it came up in conversation and he didn’t like when people did him, and so I said,...
