Beauvais (who dropped the Nilon off her name after she got divorced last year) has been doing well so far into Franklin & Bash season 2. I wouldn’t go so far as to hail her as a great actress, but her portrayal of Hanna Linden is well-executed. She and the sleazy Damien Karp (also well played by Reed Diamond) are attempting behind the scenes to get our heroes F & B drummed out of the prestigious Infeld Daniels law firm where they all work, but when Hanna has to work with our party boys, she genuinely seems to enjoy their company and what they do. She...

This bold, strange poster for Georges Franju’s 1974 Nuits rouges is one of my all-time favorites, one I’d love to own, though I haven’t seen the film itself. There is something very contemporary (or at least end of last century) about its simple Helvetica tagline announcing “Le Nouveau Franju” and more especially its grid system credit block, also in Helvetica (which reminds me of Spiritualized’s 1997 CD, or the 1996 Trainspotting campaign). The letterman jacket typeface for the title is a bit of an anomaly, but the red letters nicely echo the stunning red mask looming over what at first glance seems to be a cityscape but which turns out to be a pile of crates.
I can’t decipher the artist’s name on the poster (running up the side of one of the crates) so if anyone recognizes it I’d love to know what it is.

On this week's episode of USA's "Royal Pains" (Wednesdays at 9 p.m. Et), Hank (Mark Feuerstein) -- an emergency doctor, who's wrongly blamed for a patient's death and moves to The Hamptons -- is dealing with the business split from his brother Evan (Paulo Costanzo) and of course, treating yet another wealthy Hamptonite.
As Hank examines a patient (guest star and "NYPD Blue" alum Michael B. Silver) in our exclusive sneak peek below, he seems to wonder if the ailment is connected to his manscaping tendencies. As the patient says of his bare chest, "It's for the ladies ... Clean and smooth like a sexy porpoise." (Apparently, "sexy porpoise" is a thing.)
Here's the official description of the episode, entitled "Dawn of the Med":
Hank and Evan heatedly compete for a new business opportunity. Stubborn illnesses in three different patients turn out to be related. Divya attempts to covertly reconcile the brothers' differences,...

HankMed’s newest doc, Dr. Jeremiah Sacani (Ben Shenkman), has certainly proved that he has some personality challenges to overcome. But could his challenges turn out to work in his favor?
In this clip from tomorrow’s new episode of Royal Pains, Dr. Sacani goes on a call with Divya (Reshma Shetty) — who has little patience for his blunt manner. Despite a rough start, he ends up proving that he can be an asset to HankMed.
“In this scene, there’s a moment when he and Divya begin to see that there might be some potential for this guy because...

In the world of Friday the 13th, “Death and Sex” replaces the old “Death and Taxes” adage with endless reliability. Jason’s always on the prowl for more victims, and what better way for him to pad his numbers than by catching folks not only amidst the throes of passion but also in their euphoric comedowns?
In honor of this week's Friday the 13th, presented here for your, uh, pleasure are the 13 horniest kills in Friday the 13th history. That is to say, the top kills built around sexual machinations in one way or another. So please slide on a rubber, stay safe and give this a read!

Horatio (David Caruso) and Tripp (Rex Linn) escort the last of the escaped prisoners, Jack Toller (Callum Keith Rennie) back to Miami on a plane. Tripp threatens him with putting the medal he receives for catching him between his forehead, after being taunted by Toller for taking so long for them to find him. Toller is remembered for the gruesome way in which he cremated his Vics. Horatio finally notices the plane is off course and the pilot, Capt Winston (Bo Kane) tells him he had to do it. Horatio tells him they had priority to Miami. That's what you get for using a private plane and pilot, what happened to police pilots. An altercation ensues between the crewman (Austin Priester) on the plane and Tripp is hit in the head. Toller releases his cuffs from the seat and escapes. Horatio has to choose between shooting the crewman or Toller.

While original TV movies continue to struggle on broadcast TV as evident by the underwhelming ratings for the Hallmark Hall Of Fame film on ABC last night, the genre’s resurgence on basic cable continues. TNT has decided to extend its Mystery Movie Night franchise into the spring, greenlighting today the original movie Hornet’s Nest, an adaptation of the Patricia Cornwall novel that will star Sherry Stringfield and Virginia Madsen. The green light for Hornet’s Nest comes ahead of the debut of the TNT Mystery Movie Night, which features original movies based on popular crime novels. The franchise is set to premiere tomorrow with Scott Turow’s Innocent and continues Wednesday with the Sandra Brown novel Ricochet, starring John Corbett, Julie Benz and Gary Cole. The series will feature six movies this month and in December before returning in the spring with Hornet’s Nest and three other movies to be announced.

Robbie Amell plays reporter Andy Brazil, Michael Boatman co-stars as Richard Panesa and Michael Silver rounds out the cast as Hammer's deputy chief, Adam Goode. Hammer pairs Stringfield's character up with Brazil's cub reporter, causing some friction.

If you know anything about video games you’ll know by now that La Noire is a detective thriller, set in 1940s Los Angeles and made by Rockstar – the same guys behind Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. You just might have heard that it was the first video game to bag a slot at the Robert De Nero’s Tribeca Film Festival, back in April. But what you most certainly know is that it boasts fantastic, hitherto unprecedented, motion capture for a video game. This development has enabled Rockstar’s Team Bondi to focus the bulk of the game around gauging the facial expressions of crime suspects.
This gameplay mechanic wouldn’t have been possible without the technology backing it up, as La Noire boasts frighteningly realistic and often incredibly subtle facial expressions. Yet Rockstar needed more than just technology if they were to create dozens of distinct...

Love Shack is a gleeful, slick faux documentary in the grand tradition of Best in Show and This Is Spinal Tap – except instead of dog shows or hair bands, this flick takes aim at the porn industry. Directed by Gregg Saccon and Michael B. Silver, it's a decidedly goofy, gay-inclusive, PG-13-appropriate take on the making of a "legacy" porn flick.
A cast of commentators, including former porn stars, a "professional" porn historian and a VH1 "I Love the 80s" style snarkmeister begin the picture, detailing the life of recently deceased "Mo Saltzman" (Ian Gomez), a beloved and wildly successful porn producer with 40 years of "commercially and artistically successful" films under his belt.
Mo has left an artistic legacy, according to the "academic" commentator, an empire according to Mr. Snark, and a loving, non-traditional family, according to his many stars. Now in their 50s and 60s, former performers recall their...

Again, we get another spot-on brilliant episode of The Mentalist (TV), and with all this awesome, I'm almost ready to forgive Bruno Heller for the Season 2 pitfalls. Of course, they can't go wrong bringing back all of my favorite guest characters on this show, Bret Stiles (Malcolm McDowell), who is probably one of the best played, possible evil masterminds on TV. Add to that the flawless way he and Simon Baker play off each other, and well, you're in for a treat. A dead girl washes up on the banks of the Sacramento River, where we find the Cbi team, Lisbon (Robin Tunney), Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti), and Rigsby (Owain Yeoman) pointing out that she has a tattoo on her shoulder. Jane (Simon Baker) wanders up, late, and points out that she has needle marks between her toes. While Lisbon and the others check out local rehab centers, Jane gets...
