Best remembered as the rich Texan who flirts with Janet Leigh in Psycho.

His youngest daughter, Mundy Jo, was killed along with her maternal grandfather on Jul 20, 1956. Her mother, Grace Albertson lost control of her vehicle on the New York State Thruway, and the Volkswagen van overturned three times before landing on its top.

Was in three Oscar Best Picture nominees: Alice Adams (1935), Wake Island (1942) and It's a Wonderful Life (1946).

Following his sudden death, he was interred at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California.

Appeared in uncredited roles from 1922, working under the tutelage of James Cruze with whom he began in The Covered Wagon (1923).
