(Aotn) Executive producer and director, Melissa Joan Hart reimagines the ‘80s cult classic, The Watcher in the Woods, starring Academy Award winner Anjelica Huston as Mrs. Aylwood, the distraught mother whose daughter, Karen, vanished in the English countryside over 20 years ago.

When Jan Carstairs (Tallulah Evans) and her family move into the idyllic Aylwood manor for the summer. The family is warned against entering the surrounding woods, but Jan and her little sister Ellie (Dixie Egerickx) hear voices coming from the forest. Strange occurrences begin to unnerve the family and Jan begins to suspect that they are linked to Karen’s disappearance. As Jan unravels the dark past hidden by the townspeople, she delves further into the mystery and deeper into danger, but now it might be too late to escape the Watcher in the Woods.

NBC's "Rosemary's Baby" adaptation came and went with little fanfare and extremely weak ratings. We've yet to hear a single comment about it from any of our readers or amongst the DC staff. Having finally watched it myself, I was shocked to find that I kind of loved it...

And I wholeheartedly recommend you seek it out for several reasons, five of which are below. First, however, right off the bat I have to say I'm a big fan of Roman Polanski's 1968 film version of Ira Levin's Rosemary's Baby novel, but then again, who isn't? I think we can all agree it's iconic.

So one strike against the miniseries just by virtue of the fact that it has the balls to exist in the same universe as the movie.

Second, I despise - and I do mean despise - the 2002 film Queen of the Damned, which was loosely...

Try as I might, I can't feel like NBC's miniseries version of "Rosemary's Baby" is a disgrace.  I know that I should. Roman Polanski's 1968 adaptation of Ira Levin's tightly-written suspense potboiler is a masterpiece on every level. It's disturbing and scary, which is why people remember it as a horror classic. But in certain places, it's also absolutely hilarious with a vein of dark humor that qualifies confidently as camp, but never jeopardizes the visceral tension.  And that balance is perfectly captured through every performance, from Mia Farrow in the lead role, to John Cassavetes, Sidney Blackmer and the incomparable Ruth Gordon.  And every way in which Polanski's "Rosemary's Baby" works, Agnieszka Holland's NBC adaptation falls short. But... duh. A review that says "NBC's 'Rosemary's Baby' is bad because Roman Polanski's 'Rosemary's Baby' is good" accomplishes nothing, even if it's both true and a tremendously efficient piece of criticism.

NBC has been doling out images from its upcoming two-night "Rosemary's Baby" adaptation a few at a time, and they've obviously been saving the best - or at least the spookiest - for last. It kicks off tomorrow night, May 11th, and wraps up on Thursday, the 15th.

The fast and lazy way to review NBC's much-hyped miniseries "Rosemary's Baby," starring Zoe Saldana, is as follows: Roman Polanski's 1968 film adaptation, featuring Mia Farrow and John Cassavetes, is over an hour shorter, available via Netflix Instant, and far, far superior. Yes, it's not necessarily fair to compare versions of the same story (especially since both are based on the 1967 novella by Ira Levin), but the temptation to do so overwhelms over the course of the two-part series. Director Agnieszka Holland and writers James Wong and Scott Abbott relocate the story of Rosemary and Guy Woodhouse, a young couple looking to get pregnant and end up with more than they expected, from New York to Paris. NBC have finally dropped the official trailer for their upcoming re-adaptation of classic horror yarn 'Rosemary's Baby'. Miniseries have been all the rage on TV lately, with various adaptations, remakes and even original ideas getting green-lit by every network in hopes of drawing viewers in for ‘event’ shows. Finally a new teaser has arrived for NBC's two-part "Rosemary's Baby" TV-movie that shows off a bit of footage. It's not much, but it does give us an indication of the tone they're going for as well as another nice look at Zoe Saldana's bulging belly.

Certainly one of the most intriguing small-screen projects currently in the works is NBC’s miniseries adaptation of Rosemary’s Baby. The project was greenlit late last year, and NBC has been busying itself in recent weeks with recruiting actors for the four-hour series.

The network previously announced that it had chosen Avatar actress Zoe Saldana to take on the title role of an expectant newlywed who begins to fear that her husband and new neighbors may have sinister intentions for her and her unborn child. Last month, Suits‘ Patrick J. Adams and Harry Potter‘s Jason Isaacs were both added to the show, as Rosemary’s husband Guy Woodhouse and creepy coven leader Roman Castevet, respectively. Now, two additional actresses have been cast.

British actress Christina Cole (below) is the latest addition to the cast of NBC and Lionsgate's upcoming TV miniseries version of classic horror yarn 'Rosemary's Baby'. Agnieszka Holland ('The Killing') will be helming the script developed by Scott Abbott ('Queen of the Damned') and James Wong ('Final Destination') whilst Cole will be on board to play Julie, a friend of Rosemary. The main role of Rosemary Woodhouse of course was given to gorgeous 'Star Trek into Darkness' star Zoe Saldana. Jason Isaacs ('Harry Potter') is also on board to play coven-leader Roman Castevet. The story is based on the original novel by author Ira Levin....

With NBC's reimagined "Rosemary's Baby" being set in Paris, it only makes sense they'd hire a few French actors, and first to be named is the César-winning former Bond girl Carole Bouquet. UK-born Christina Cole has also signed on to the project.

Per Deadline, Bouquet (pictured right and below left) has been cast as Margaux Castevet, a sophisticated and beautiful Parisian socialite who befriends young Rosemary, and Cole (pictured below right) will play Julie, Rosemary’s spirited girlfriend.

Bouquet, who won a Best Actress César (the French Oscar) for Trop belle pour toi (1989) is probably best known here in the States as Bond girl Melina Havelock in For Your Eyes Only (1981). Coincidentally, Cole appeared in Casino Royale (2006) as well as the upcoming Jupiter Ascending.

A miniseries version of Rosemary’s Baby is moving forward at NBC and we have an update on who makes up the main cast. Rosemary’s Baby has already garnered a lead in Zoe Saldana and two co-stars in Patrick J. Adams and Jason Isaacs, and two more actors have joined the adaptation of Ira Levin’s 1967 novel.

According to Deadline, French actress Carole Bouquet (For Your Eyes Only) will play Margaux Castevet, a ”sophisticated” socialite and wife of Jason Isaacs’ character, who takes a liking to Rosemary. English actress Christina Cole (Doghouse, Casino Royale) will take on the role of Rosemary’s lively friend, Julie.
