He concluded his Marine tour with an assignment to a Special Boat Squadron with Group One, Seal Team Three, NAVSPECWARCOM, Coronado, California. Markham maintains close ties to the Special Operations Community to this day, belonging both to the Marine Force Recon Association and the Fraternal Order of Navy SEALS.
