The comedy improv game show Whose Line is it Anyway? became a big hit in the States in the late 90s. So much so that ABC was confident enough to put up against the sitcom juggernaut Friends at one point. The show continued on with a revival on The CW, but some audiences may remember its origin in the UK that was shown on Channel 4, which also played on Comedy Central before it was remade on this side of the pond. One of the standout comedians in the UK version was British comedian Tony Slattery. Deadline is now reporting that Slattery has died at the age of 65 due to a heart attack.
His passing would be confirmed by his family to the BBC. His partner, Mark Michael Hutchinson, would release a statement that reads, “It is with great sadness we must announce actor and comedian Tony Slattery, aged 65, has passed away today,...

The Smithsonian Channel is launching in the U.K. as a free-to-air service that will reach 19 million homes. It will carry shows from the U.S. such as “America in Color” and a slate of local originals including a documentary about Tariq Ali and Malcom X and a factual series fronted by Clive Anderson.
Smithsonian Channel is owned by Smithsonian Networks, which is a joint venture between Showtime and the Smithsonian Institution. The U.K. launch on Feb. 12 will be the most significant international move yet for the channel after earlier rollouts in Canada and Latin America.
“We know that internationally people respond to our programming and once we had some of those moves under our belt and saw we were getting a good reception, the U.K. was the big challenge,” David Royle, chief programming officer, Smithsonian Networks told Variety. “We’re already collaborating with a lot with U.

Noel Edmonds baffled TV fans this week when he declared that "electro smog" is a bigger world problem than climate change or even Aids.
This might be a surprising claim, were it not for the fact that Mr Blobby's bearded buddy has had more than his fair share of bizarre moments over the years. Whether you consider him a national treasure, a visionary maverick or just plain wrong, here are 9 of his most memorable moments that will surely leave all but the most hardened fans scratching their heads.

If you're anything like us, you've been a fan of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" since the British episodes started airing on Comedy Central in the early 1990s. And you are also extremely happy to have these funny folks back on your TV.
The premiere episode featured a couple new improvers, Gary Anthony Williams and Heather Anne Campbell, plus some special guests -- "Walking Dead's" Lauren Cohan and "Glee's" Kevin McHale.
Favorite games were played -- Scenes From a Hat, Let's Make a Date, Living Scenery -- plus there were new games, like What's In the Bag and Sideways Scene. The Sideways Scene was particularly a lot of fun, as the improves laid on their sides and performed on a red set, which was then shown right-way up on TV. Trust us, it's a lot cooler than it sounds here.
What did you think about Aisha Tyler as the new host?...
