Michael Mosley, a popular TV doctor in the UK, has died. He was 67 years old.

Mosley was on vacation with his wife, Clare Bailey Mosley, when he went out for a walk on the Greek island of Symi. When he didn’t return, he was reported missing on Wednesday and a search of the area began. On Sunday, BBC reported that a body was found in the search for Mosley.

William Russell, an actor who played one of Doctor Who’s first companions, died Monday. He was 99 years old.

“We’re sad to report the passing of William Russell,” the show’s official X account posted, “a legend in #DoctorWho history who played one of the first and original companions to the Doctor, Ian Chesterton.”

Mandisa, a singer who rose to prominence in the fifth season of American Idol and went on to become a Grammy Award-winning Christian artist, died at her home in Nashville, Tenn. on April 18. She was 47.

“We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased,” a rep for the singer told The Tennessean in a statement on April 19. “At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details. We ask for your prayers for her family and close-knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time.”

Erich Anderson, the familiar character actor who made his film debut in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, played Keri Russell’s father on Felicity and recurred on shows from Steven Bochco, has died. He was 67.

Anderson died Saturday after a “brutal struggle with cancer,” his wife of 21 years, actress Saxon Trainor, and her brother-in-law, Michael O’Malley, announced in an Instagram post.

In Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984), Anderson portrayed Rob Dier, who while attempting to avenge his sister’s death meets his brutal end at the hands of Jason in a basement.

He appeared as Dr. Edward Porter, father of Russell’s Felicity Porter, in the 1998 pilot for Felicity, then returned for eight more episodes of the WB network show during its four-season run through 2002.

Erich Anderson, a prolific television actor perhaps best known for his portrayal on Felicity as the title character’s father, died of cancer June 1 in Los Angeles. He was 67.

His death was announced on social media by wife and actor Saxon Trainor.

Launching his film career in 1984 with a role in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Anderson was also featured at the same time in the TV series Bay City Blues. TV guest appearances kept him busy for the next years, with roles on The Paper Chase, Tour of Duty, and Quantum Leap, among others.

In 1990 he landed a recurring role that would become one of his most recognizable: On seven episodes of thirtysomething, he played Billy Sidel, a romantic partner for Polly Draper’s Ellyn Warren. After a sometimes rocky path, the two characters were married late in the series.

Best known to horror fans for playing the character Rob Dier in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, actor Erich Anderson has sadly passed away after a battle with cancer.

The actor was 67 years old.

Michael O’Malley wrote on Instagram, “My brother in law Erich Anderson passed this morning after a brutal struggle with cancer. He had a long successful career as an actor—he was on that old show “30 Something”; he was Felicity’s father on “Felicity”; he was killed in a basement in a Friday the 13th movie; he was on Star Trek and dozens of other shows.”

“He was a smart and funny guy, a fantastic cook; he wrote three great novels which you can find on Amazon,” O’Malley continues. “I’ll miss him but his ordeal is over.”

For the last few years, Paramount has been giving the Friday the 13th movies they released in the 1980s 40th anniversary steelbook Blu-ray releases. The original Friday the 13th got its steelbook release in 2020, and you can pick that up Here. Friday the 13th Part 2 got its steelbook release in 2021, and you can buy that one at This Link. Friday the 13th Part III followed its predecessors in 2022, and you can get that steelbook Here. There was no Friday the 13th movie released in 1983, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter didn’t come along until ’84, so I was wondering if Paramount was going to wait an extra year to release a steelbook for that one… and the answer is no. Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter is getting a steelbook Blu-ray release for its 39th anniversary, and it’s already available for pre-order on Amazon!

Vertical Entertainment has released an official trailer for an indie small town drama titled Cold Brook, which is also the feature directorial debut of actor William Fichtner. Friday the 13th has been considered unlucky since October 1307 when King Philip IV of France ordered the executions of all of the Knights Templars because God was “not pleased.” It was a bloody beginning to a long tradition.

But not every Friday the Thirteenth is unfortunate, no matter how much blood gets spilled. For example, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter was very lucky.

Sometimes you wanna go where you know everybody’s name. For diehard fans, that’s the fun of revisiting Friday The 13th. Even if you’ve heard or read some of the stories contained in His Name Was Jason at conventions, in books like Peter Bracke’s Crystal Lake Memories and the documentaries, etc. included on the 2004 Friday DVD box, there’s still a weird lust for some of us to search for undiscovered livers and gizzards in the franchise’s body.
