Don was born and raised in Red Deer, and from the time he did his first
play at the age of thirteen (Oliver!), he has worked on over a thousand
stage productions, in addition to teaching lighting, sound and film
production at Red Deer College.
He graduated from the film program at Ryerson University in Toronto. Don was later involved in the development of the Motion Picture Arts Applied Degree at RDC. He has been involved in many films as a writer, producer, director, editor and cinematographer.
