Australian rockers Wolfmother are facing another line-up change - they have lost a second drummer in as many years following the departure of Dave Atkins. The band was rocked in 2008 when two of the three original members, Chris Ross and Myles Heskett, left the band citing "irreconcilable personal and musical differences".

Frontman Andrew Stockdale decided to continue the group and recruited new members, including Atkins, to take their place. But the band has hit trouble again with the announcement that Atkins has quit to "spend much-needed time at home with his family".

A statement from Wolfmother reads, "After two years of good service to Wolfmother, Dave Atkins has decided to leave the band to spend much-needed time at home with his family. Dave has had a great experience touring and recording with the band, though in time, it's proven to be too exhausting and taxing on his home life."

In August 2008, after nearly two years of touring in support of their breakthrough debut, Wolfmother returned to their native Australia for a triumphant homecoming show at the Splendour in the Grass festival. It would be the last time they'd ever share the stage together.

Three days later — amid constant media speculation that the band had broken up — Wolfmother's record label released a statement announcing that drummer Myles Heskett and bassist/keyboardist Chris Ross had left the group due to "irreconcilable differences" but that wild-haired guitarist/frontman Andrew Stockdale had decided to soldier on under the Wolfmother mantle, with plans to write and record a new album ... all by himself, if necessary.

Australian hard rock band Wolfmother is in the final stages of recording the band's second album, tentatively titled "Cosmic Egg," in Los Angeles. After parting ways with its original two bandmates last year, the group is now a quartet.

The band's two members Chris Ross and Myles Heskett left the band due to "irreconcilable personal and musical differences," though Stockdale stated that he would continue using the Wolfmother moniker with new members in the future.

Frontman Andrew Stockdale spoke with NME.com and revealed that he has recruited three new members who are working on new tracks at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles.

New members were revealed in February are guitarist Aidan Nemeth, bassist and keyboardist Ian Peres and drummer Dave Atkins.
