“Euphoria” Season 3 announced its cast on Friday — and some new names are in the mix. Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch and Kadeem Hardison will all join series regulars Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi on the HBO drama’s latest outing, with Dominic Fike also set to return. Notably absent from the new season’s casting news is Storm Reid.
“Euphoria” resumed production this week for its long-awaited third season. The show was marred by delays caused by the Covid pandemic as well as the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Its return comes almost three years after the second season premiered, and for awhile, particularly following the death of actor Angus Cloud, the matter of its return was a big question mark. HBO and Max boss Casey Bloys dispelled rumors concerning a potential cancellation for months.

Thanks to breakout roles in the Scream revival, Netflix's Wednesday and last year's Beetlejuice sequel, Jenna Ortega is fast becoming one of the most sought-after young actors in Hollywood, so it probably won't come as much of a surprise to learn that she's being courted by Marvel Studios.
We have previously heard that Ortega was being eyed for a superhero part, but Daniel Richtman is now reporting that the actress is being considered for a big Marvel Cinematic Universe role.
It's always worth noting that Marvel meets with a lot of talent, but if Ortega has actually entered negotiations for an upcoming project, there's a good chance the trades will get hold of the story before too long.
Even if she is in talks, there's no guarantee that things will work out. Ortega has a busy schedule ahead, with a lead role in Taika Waititi's Klara and the Sun adaptation,...

In the excellence in period film category, Linda Muir won for her work on “Nosferatu.”
The awards recognized excellence in film, TV and short-form costume design and were hosted by Jackie Tohn.
Tohn announced the guild is launching an auction of costumes from film and TV to support the IATSE Emergency Relief Fund. Among the props up for auction are costumes from “House of the Dragon,” Shiz University costumes from “Wicked,” and Bob Mackie Cher sketches.

In 1983 Argentina, under the harsh military dictatorship during the Dirty War, Kiss of the Spider Woman unfolds its story within a prison cell. The setting operates as a stark representation of societal control and human endurance. Luis Molina, a gay window dresser imprisoned for public indecency, shares his cell with Valentin Arregui Paz, a Marxist revolutionary tortured for opposing the regime. Their shared confinement becomes a space where different worldviews clash and eventually merge.
Molina’s imaginative narratives emerge as a survival strategy, deeply connected to Latin American interpretations of classic Hollywood cinema. His fixation on Ingrid Luna, a fictional screen actress representing cinematic archetypes, transcends simple distraction. These stories reveal how global cultural elements are transformed through local perspectives to create complex personal identities. Director Bill Condon weaves a narrative that shifts between harsh prison reality and vivid cinematic dreams, showing how storytelling becomes a form of psychological resistance.

A touching dedication at the end of Kiss of the Spider Woman reads simply: “For Fred, Terrence and Chita.” That would be lyricist Fred Ebb, playwright Terrence McNally and original star Chita Rivera, key figures behind the 1993 Broadway musical, alongside composer John Kander and stage director Harold Prince. The show won seven Tony Awards and ran for just over two years, though critics and audiences were divided, and it’s mostly considered a second-tier musical by the standards of Kander and Ebb, the celebrated team behind Cabaret and Chicago.
Bill Condon sets himself a tough assignment trying to transform the tricky material into a great movie musical, but thanks in part to laudable work from his three leads, he occasionally comes close. The writer-director revisits an idea that worked well in his screenplay for 2002’s Chicago — paralleling squalor and splendor, with central characters stuck in grim reality seeking escape through Golden Age Hollywood musical fantasy.

In the opening sequence of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” audiences are introduced to Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz some 35 years after we last saw her.
Lydia is now hosting a reality show, “Ghost House,” and often sees visions of the foul-mouthed demon Beetlejuice in her audience. According to costume designer Colleen Atwood, the goth-glam host’s outfit was inspired by none other than the mistress of the dark herself, Elvira. Atwood said, “We wanted to channel that kind of character for Lydia’s TV show. I found that dress at a thrift store. It was this jersey dress, and I did some modifications to it; adding some cleavage and changed it up a bit.”
The four-time Oscar winner was the recipient of Variety’s Creative Impact award in costume design. Speaking with Variety at the Scad Savannah Film Festival, Atwood said she doesn’t take things for granted and never assumes she...

Oscar-winning actor Catherine Zeta-Jones recalls meeting “Chicago” costume designer Colleen Atwood in her workshop before the musical began filming.
“It was this explosion of costume and dancing fishnet tights hanging from every hook,” says Zeta-Jones. “I remember meeting her for the first time and looking at her designs, giddy with anticipation, and looking at her vision and just going ‘Wow! This is amazing.’”
Zeta-Jones had an instant respect and admiration for Atwood and her craft. She’s not the only one. Directors Rob Marshall and Tim Burton have her on speed dial as one of their first go-to department heads and collaborators when starting their new films. I needed that same group from ‘Chicago’ because we speak the same language and shorthand at this point,” Marshall says. He used Atwood on Disney’s 2023 live action “The Little Mermaid.”

Thanks to breakout roles in the Scream revival, Netflix's Wednesday and this year's Beetlejuice sequel, Jenna Ortega is fast becoming one of the most sought-after young actors in Hollywood, so it probably won't come as much of a surprise to learn that she's being courted by Marvel Studios.
According to scooper Mttsh, Ortega is now in talks for an undisclosed Marvel Cinematic Universe role.
It's always worth noting that Marvel meets with a lot of talent, but if Ortega has actually entered negotiations for an upcoming project, there's a good chance the trades will get hold of the story before too long.
Even if she is in talks, there's no guarantee that things will work out. Ortega has a busy schedule ahead, with a lead role in Taika Waititi's Klara and the Sun adaptation, and an untitled Trey Edward Shults film that will co-star The Weeknd and Barry Keoghan.

If you want to win an Oscar for Best Costume Design, it’s best to pick a project for which you can create frilly dresses from a bygone era. Since its introduction at the 1948 Academy Awards, this category has favored period pictures, including the 2024 winner “Poor Things.” (Scroll down for the most up-to-date 2025 Oscar predictions for Best Costume Design.)

“This is a lukewarm opening for an animation adaptation in a live-action series,” says David A. Gross of movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research. “Industry expectations are high for a big series like this, but an...

As a fan of “Beetlejuice” (1988), Tim Burton’s go-to costume designer Colleen Atwood initially found it daunting to jump into the “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” sequel and its kitschy world of crazies (originally designed by Aggie Guerard Rodgers). But having the sartorial freedom to add new characters (Jenna Ortega’s grungy Astrid) and expand the underworld (Monica Bellucci’s Victorian corpse bride Delores) made it a lot more enticing.
However, Atwood had the most fun working with Michael Keaton as the “ghost with the most” in his iconic black-and-white suit, burgundy tux, and a few other surprises. “On my first fitting with Michael, I went to his house, and he had painful knee surgery, so he was really brave to do a fitting,” the four-time Oscar winner (including Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”) told IndieWire.
“We were trying on his clothes, and it was funny because he was kind of like an old guy,...

The Juice has well and truly been set loose at the box office, as Tim Burton's long-awaited Beetlejuice sequel claims the No. 1 spot from Deadpool and Wolverine with a record-breaking domestic debut.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice scared up an estimated $110 million in North America ($145M worldwide) to give it the 3rd biggest opening of 2024; 2nd biggest opening ever for Tim Burton; 2nd best September opening, and 2nd biggest opening ever for a horror film, surpassing Warner Bros.' It: Chapter 2.
This also means that the sequel has already surpassed the original movie's entire global gross ($74 million) after a single weekend in theaters.
Getting back to Marvel Studios' massively successful first foray into R-rated territory, and it looks like the movie is set to premiere on Digital platforms early next month (we're still waiting on an official announcement).

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is now in theaters, and we're breaking down the long-awaited sequel's batsh*t crazy final act to see if the door to the Afterlife might be left open for a third movie.
Major spoilers follow.
When her daughter Astrid (Jenna Ortega) is tricked into trading her soul to restore the ghost of murderous neighbour/love-interest Jeremy (Arthur Conti) to life, Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) reluctantly summons Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton) for help. The Ghost with the Most agrees to bring Lydia to the Afterlife to rescue Astrid... if she'll sign a contract promising to be his bride.
Lydia manages to bring Astrid home, but has already agreed to marry Rory (Justin Theroux), who Betelgeuse exposes as a gold-digging cad. Still, the prospect of tying the knot with a lecherous demon isn't exactly appealing to Lydia, and Astrid manages to find a loophole which allows her mother out of the bargain.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the loooong-awaited sequel to Tim Burton’s beloved 1988 classic, is a bold attempt to recapture the magic of its predecessor. With original stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara reprising their roles, Burton reunites with his eccentric creation, hoping to evoke the whimsical macabre style that defined his early career. Yet, despite a healthy dose of nostalgia, quirky visual effects, and Danny Elfman’s unmistakable score, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice falls short of its potential, delivering an uneven, overstuffed Halloween romp that’s more style than substance.
The film picks up 36 years after the original, with Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) now a famous TV ghost-hunter and mother to rebellious teenager Astrid (Jenna Ortega). Lydia, still haunted by her past encounter with Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton), finds herself drawn back into the Neitherworld when Astrid unwittingly becomes trapped in the afterlife. Astrid, duped by a local boy named Jeremy (Arthur Conti...

Tommy Harper is used to getting phone calls featuring unusual requests. His phone might ring and it’s Tom Cruise and Joseph Kosinski asking him to figure out how to film Top Gun: Maverick in real jets. Or J.J. Abrams is on the line, asking how to bring the massive crew of a Star Wars movie to a remote island in Ireland. Maybe it’s Tim Burton, wanting help choreographing an off-kilter musical number for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
“You’re like, ‘Ok, that’s a puzzle I have to figure out,’’ says Harper. “I love receiving those phone calls.”
Just like characters in movies he’s worked on, Harper is used to journeying to strange new worlds, and he prides himself on the end goal of “having the audience sit in a cinema, turn off the lights and be transported for two hours.”

Tim Burton's long-awaited sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, is now in theaters, and, as fans hoped it would, the movie does explain what happened to the original film's protagonists.
Though Michael Keaton's titular Ghost with the Most was obviously the main attraction in Tim Burton's horror comedy classic, the main characters were actually Adam and Barbara Maitland (played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis).
The recently married couple are killed in a car accident in the first few minutes of the movie, and their displaced spirits wind up summoning Betelgeuse in an effort to drive the new owners of their house (Winona Ryder's Lydia Deetz and her family) away. Things don't exactly go according to plan, however.
Ultimately, Betelgeuse is banished, and the Deetzs and Maitlands agree to share the house.
Keaton, Ryder and Catherine O'Hara (who plays Lydia's mother) reprise their roles for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but Baldwin and Davis don't appear.

Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, and Michael Keaton reunite with director Tim Burton to venture back into the whimsically macabre realm that made the 1988 classic Beetlejuice an enduring fan favorite. The long-gestating sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, appropriately takes place 30-something years after the Ghost with the Most tried to con his way back to life with designs of marriage on then-teen Lydia Deetz (Ryder).
While Lydia has grown to build a life of her own, not much has changed in the Neitherworld, a good or bad thing depending on what you want out of a legacy sequel. And this is a legacy sequel, packed with fan service and callbacks. That makes for an overstuffed narrative without much heft, but Burton’s lively, infectious return to the strange and unusual delivers a delightful enough Halloween romp all the same.

Tim Burton's long-awaited sequel to his cult classic, Beetlejuice, opens this weekend, and the movie is expected to have a ghoulishly good debut at the box office.
According to the latest estimates (via Deadline), Beetlejuice Beetlejuice should take in around $145 million worldwide (Warner Bros. is anticipating an $80M domestic bow). If this proves to be accurate, the sequel will debut with more than the lifetime gross of the original 1988 movie, which finished its run at $74.6M, unadjusted for inflation.
The chaotic horror comedy should also claim the spot from Marvel Studios' Deadpool and Wolverine, which - despite briefly being dethroned by Alien: Romulus - has remained at #1 for six weekends it's been in theaters.
