However, he recently revealed how the then-leading actors like Rajesh Khanna, Parveen Babi, and others partied back then.

Kill Teaser Review: A Bloody New Chapter For Indian Cinema? (Photo Credit – Youtube)
Move over masala musicals and epic romances, because Bollywood is about to get a serious dose of red. The teaser for Kill has landed, and it’s not for the faint of heart. This isn’t your typical hero flipping ten goons at once while singing a catchy tune. This is a genre-bending, barrier-breaking experience produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, promising a brutal and bloody thrill ride unlike anything Indian cinema has ever dared to unleash.
Helmed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhatt, Kill’s teaser itself is a crimson calling card. Ditch the family-friendly U rating – this one proudly boasts a Red Band YouTube release, a clear indicator that things are about to get messy. Gone are the sanitized fight scenes and bloodless encounters. Kill throws caution to the wind with its “unapologetic violence and gore,...

Parveen Babi Starred In Super Hit movies like Namak Halal, Kaalia, Shaan, Deewar, and More. (Photo Credit – IMDb/Instagram)
The late 70s and 80s superstar Parveen Babi is a star whose loss is a remnant in Hindi Cinema. Her charm and ability to translate emotions through subtlety and grace made the movies she starred in more affluent. Multiple heartbreaks, a bout with schizophrenia, and an untimely death at the age of 50 marked the end of the starlet’s life. But did you know she once ran behind Mahesh Bhatt without stopping him after they broke up? She also ended up in a mental hospital in New York.
Parveen Babi‘s life stories are no less than a saga; it had everything: love, heartbreak, sadness, and tragedy. Amar Akbar Anthony, Namak Halal, Shaan, and The Burning Train are just a few of the classic Hindi films she starred in. And while...

Parveen Babi Once Dropped Truth Bombs About Amitabh Bachchan & His Stardom. (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Bollywood and its golden statements lay in the era of the 90s. Not because the stars were difficult to reach but only because whatever they said was less fabricated and filtered since there was no constant moral policing or calling out. Interviews were unabashedly real, and one such interview was when Parveen Babi opened up about Amitabh Bachchan and had some thoughts about his popularity.
An old video has cropped up on the internet where the Shaan actress was seen talking about her co-star in many films. The duo has worked together in many films, including Kaalia, Amar Akbar Anthony, Namak Halaal, Kaala Sona, Kranti, and Kala Patthar.
For the unversed, Parveen Babi died struggling with mental health after she was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. It was rumored that she used to believe that Amitabh Bachchan would kill her.

Born and raised in Byculla, Bombay, daughter of a cop who used to be responsible for Mahatma Gandhi’s security bandobast, and adopted for life by Calcutta, Usha Uthup is the voice and spirit of the Swinging Sixties that the eastern metropolis was synonymous with till the Bangladesh War and the red shadow of Naxalism changed it forever.

The eleventh episode of the eighth season of this chat show had beautiful siblings, the daughters of the legendary Sridevi, Jahnvi Kapoor, and Khushi Kapoor. The new episode of the show features the two yesteryear divas of the Hindi film industry, Zeenat Aman and Neetu Kapoor. They graced the coffee couch, and the conversation with them was all about taking a trip down memory lane, and as Karan Johar stated, it would be a ‘Yaadon ki Baarat’.
What Happens In The Episode?
The episode began with Karan introducing the divas. Zeenat Aman in the 1970s was a trailblazer and a style icon. Meanwhile, Neetu Kapoor was a child star who went on to become one of the most...

India is a land of foodies which continues to experiment with food cuisine in an evolutionary manner. Tarla is a biopic on Indian chef and cookbook author Tarla Dalal. ‘Tarla’ is perhaps the first such cinematic documentation of a woman who changed the contours and paradigms associated with food in the most imaginative and practical manner.
Business of food has clear fault lines at least in India. Unwritten rule is that while cooking within the four walls is mostly an all women domain, cooking for public functions is still a predominantly male prerogative and it has continued to be so from ancient times.
Tarla Plot
Tarla (Huma Qureshi) is a woman who wants to achieve something significant in life. Apparently, her family is insisting on getting her married. Though Tarla’s husband, Nalin (Sharib Hashmi), is all set to stand by her side with her choices, gender duties result in...

It is after a long time that jazz wizardry is unleashed as a binding element and the mode of continuity and soul of R D Burman would be mightily pleased that one of his iconic songs is now the title of a film.
Monica O My Darling is a film that unleashes the prowess of Huma Qureshi as an actor par excellence who can carry a film on her shoulders with panache. As a follow up of Maharani-2, Huma Qureshi has underlined the seamless manner in which she can slip into roles of characters and make a success out of it.

Unlike Hollywood, where musicals are a separate genre, no Hindi film is complete without a full suite of songs – and they are what keeps a film alive in the minds of the people long after it has met its fate at the box office. Amitabh Bachchan fans may not recall the plots of his old landmark films, but the songs still strike a chord.
On the Big B’s 80th birthday, let us revisit some of his musical hits from his first decade of super and megastardom, where the songs were not just romantic interludes with his lady love of the moment, but also served various other purposes.
These helped him to express a range of moods, reveal his innermost yearnings, his philosophy of life, advancing the plot as action takes place in the background or surreptitiously, or evoke humour to lighten the mood.

Along with expressions and mannerisms, it is the voice that makes a successful actor. But there are times where the film may demand that the performer just use facial expressions and body language, without any words, to emote – and that can test their calibre. Blessed with a resounding baritone – and a fine singing voice too, Amitabh Bachchan was several times called to demonstrate his prowess in this respect – and never disappointed.
Manoj Kumar described his voice as “a mellow whisper, sounding like the murmurs of a thundery cloud” at their first meeting in September 1967, when Amitabh arrived in Bombay to try his luck in the film industry, the first film that he got – “Reshma aur Shera” (1971) had portrayed him as mute.
This, as per director and producer Sunil Dutt – who fulfilled his promise of giving him a break – and writer Ali Raza, was to evoke greater audience sympathy for him.

As he turns 80 on October 11, the living legend Amitabh Bachchan – Bollywood’s biggest superstar in its 110-years’ history – can look back with satisfaction at his long career on the silver screen, where he became a icon along with a galaxy of leading ladies.
It was in 1969 – when man landed on the moon – that Bachchan took his first small step with “Saat Hindustani”, which ultimately proved to be a gigantic leap for his megastar-dom.
But he stood out in his maiden film – in the crowd of six other actors jostling for screen space in the pacey thriller themed on the Goa Liberation – with the sole female revolutionary – Shahnaz Vahanvati (daughter of the comedian Agha), gunning to free the west Indian territory from Portuguese clutches.
Subsequently, Bachchan notched a record of sorts, working with six generations of new, established, senior or junior heroines ranging from Mala Sinha and Nutan...

New Delhi, Aug 31 (Ians) Parveen Babi truly lived life king-sized, redefining the manner in which actresses portrayed themselves on the big screen, being cast in over 50 films with every Bollywood A-lister worth the name, appearing on the cover of Time magazine and recovering from two mental breakdowns but in the end, dying a lonely death – sadly, just a name for the present day Hindi film industry and cine-goers alike.
"With characters like Anita from ‘Deewar', Parveen changed the kind of roles our leading ladies played on screen. Anita had both sexual and economic autonomy. Parveen was also instrumental in changing how our actresses look on screen," says her biographer, Karishma Upadhyay, of her book "Parveen – A Life" (Hachette) that should serve as a reminder for the present generation of an actress who attempted to live life on her own terms but lost out in the end.

For almost as long as there has been Bollywood, there has been a Kapoor involved in a major way. The seemingly never-ending dynasty that has ruled Bollywood forever started with the greatest actor of his day Prithviraj Kapoor, was extended sideways by his distant cousin and long-time film producer Surinder Kapoor and continues to this day with such disparate names as Armaan Jain, Sara Ali Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja.
In between, there are no lack of star-studded names: Raj Kapoor, Boney Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan (yes to name drop too). Each has evolved their own style in their own time and in doing so has moulded Bollywood around them in both big and small ways. Yet, what has always been constant has been the power that they have delivered to Bollywood music through the ages, each performance creating a legend. So here we look at the...

Pati Patni Aur Woh
Starring Kartik Aryan, Bhumi Pednekar, Ananya Pandey
Directed by Mudassar Aziz
First things first. Apart from a riff of Thande thande pani se nahana chahiye in the background and the end-entrance of a femme fatale there is no similarity of any kind between B R Chopra’s 1978 sex comedy Pati Patni Aur Woh and its new Kanpuriya avatar.
Sanjeev Kumar—may his soul rest in one piece—is replaced by a moustachioed Kartik Aryan, way too young to play a husband going through a midlife crisis, but we’ll let that be. Whatever Kartik lacks in the years, he compensates for with his intuitive feel for the young Indian sexually active male’s appalled rejection of matriarchal bullying.
As usual, Kartik playing the average bloke, this time a Kanpur guy named Abhinav Tyagi, transfixes his character’s gaze in the hemisphere of the hangdog. He is...

Ali Fazal is an affable actor. He brings a certain charm, reminiscent of Shashi Kapoor, into all his roles. But how much charm can you bring into a cheerless sullen role of a man who suffers from a serious social disorder which prevents him from stepping out of his home? And then you have Jim Sarbh as your best friend. Why would you want to go out?
The last time I heard about someone staying home indefinitely, it happened to Parveen Babi and she was declared schizophrenic. In "House Arrest" they have a fancy Japanese term for Ali's character's clinical condition. They call it hikikomori.
Very impressive. If only the scriptwriters had not stopped being creative after finding a fancy designer-disease for the protagonist. The crux of the film is so vapid and the narrative assembled with such haphazardness I wondered if Netflix wants to portray India as a country...

Remember many a club tracks that were picturised on Parveen Babi and Zeenat Aman back in the 70s and then early 80s as well? Or those disco numbers that were picturised on Mandakini and even Madhuri Dixit right till the late 80s?

Having the perfect look for a role in a film, is essential to a actor or actresses performance. To make sure this happened Esha Gupta took over a dozen screen tests to crack her badass bombshell avatar in Milan Luthria’s Baadshaho.
Esha Gupta who was last seen in Rustom, tried several hair and make-up permutations and combinations of which the best got the nod from director Milan Luthria, who wanted his leading lady to look sexy despite the badass vibe to her character. The look they were going for was inspired by the 70s bombshells- Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi.
The film’s stylist and director Milan suggested Esha to alter her hair colour and try on coloured lenses. Esha admits that it’s probably the highest number of tests she has ever undergone to crack her look in a film.
Well, we surely agree that her hard work has paid off!

Everyone has a theory on why Nargis Fakhri suddenly left the country. Here's the truth. Nargis just got tired of trying to be a Bollywood actress. Yes, she upped and left because she couldn't cope with the demands of 'Bollywood'.
Friends say they saw it coming. Her going, I mean. "It has nothing to do with Uday Chopra at all," opines a male colleague who has worked with Nargis. "It has to do with her inability to fit into the Bollywood mould. She is not a coy eyelashes- fluttering bosom-heaving siren. She is more of a guys' guy than a girl. She discusses her breasts and burps in the same breath. She is a misfit. She just got tired of being told to behave like a Bollywood diva."

Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan took to social media to celebrate 40 years since the release of his most memorable film Deewaar (1975). Directed by the late Yash Chopra, Deewaar is based on the story of two brothers who take different directions in life, with their mother at the centre of their conflict. Deewaar is considered to be one of the greatest films ever made in Hindi Cinema’s illustrious history, with many also labelling it as Mr Bachchan’s best performance ever.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday night, Mr Bachchan posted the following in sheer joy. “40 years! 40 years ago, this day, Deewar was released!! 21st Jan 1975.. Thank you Salim-Javed Saheb for the most perfect script.”

It's a story of spirit, spunk, guts and finally, victory. How Shraddha Kapoor said no to Yashraj's bikini clause, could make a great screenplay. But then, life is often stranger than fiction. And Shraddha Kapoor made her choice when she walked out of Yashraj Films into Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatts' Vishesh Films to Aashiqui 2.The rest, as they say, is history. But behind the historic success of Aashiqui 2, there is a story of conflict and dilemma. Apparently, Shraddha, who was at that point of time tied down to Yashraj Films and had already done a film Luv Ka The End with the banner, was expected to do two more films with them. "It was at this point of time that Shraddha was offered Atul Sabharwal's Aurangzeb from the Yashraj banner. It was the role of Arjun Kapoor's moll along the lines of the one played by Parveen Babi in Deewaar.

Abhishek Bachchan is thrilled to hear that the upcoming film Tamanchey is using the classic song ‘Pyar Mein Dil Pe’ as its tag line.
The original song, from Amitabh Bachchan’s 1983 film Mahaan co-starring Waheeda Rahman, Parveen Babi and Zeenat Aman was a huge success and is one of Abhishek’s favorites. It was sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle, with R.D. Burman’s music direction.
Suryaveer Singh Bhullar’s Tamanchey is now reviving the classic with Bappi Lahiri. The version clearly shows how music has evolved over the last 30 odd years. While the song has a new age feel to it, it still keeps the essence of the original classic, making sure to attract Bollywood fans of all ages.
Tamanchey stars Nikhil Dwivedi and Richa Chadda and is directed by Navneet Behal. It is produced by Wild Elephants Motion Pictures in association with Fashion TV- marking its entry into the Bollywood film-making business.

The actor has oodles of weight for the role and has taken workshops. “I strongly believed in the character I played. The film is a whodunit murder mystery where everyone is a culprit. Whereas I am a cop turned superstar. The film is set in the 60’s and is very stylish. I lost twenty pounds for the role and have taken workshops for six months,” says Himesh.
While his first film was a super success the same can’t be said about his other ventures. “I had five flops in a row but my debut venture as an actor was a hit. I analyzed my acting career. Since...

Set in the golden era of Bollywood of 1960’s, The Xpose is a poor attempt at a whodunit plot, where the story revolves around the murder of an actress in a Bollywood party. This 80 minute musical thriller is a recipe that has gone horribly wrong for the National Award winner and director Anant Mahadevan, who is well known to have delivered screenplays like the famous Mee Sindhutai Sapkal.
Reportedly inspired by real-life events of Bollywood during the 60’s, the movie had the potential to be a blockbuster hit. It was the poor screenplay and editing that killed the real quintessence of the film. The film’s characters Zara and Chandni (played by Sonali Raut & Zoya Afroz) are reportedly based on Parveen Babi and Zeenat Aman.

Himesh has worked very hard on his look for this film, reinventing himself once again and losing 20kg to reveal this new super sleek avatar.
The Xpose is a murder mystery set in the glamorous back drop of the 1960′s where as said in the trailer: “Ye Kahaani Uss Daur Ki Hain Jab Film Issh-Star Log Apni Filmon Ki Tarah Larger Than Life Thay…”.
