They Bite (1992)

Nick Baldasare embarked on his cinematic journey with a role in the film Brubaker (1980), a Robert Redford vehicle where he portrayed a prisoner. Through friend and fellow actor Rick Kesler, he was soon introduced to The Ohio State University's film department and began appearing in student films, most notably for director Jay Woelfel.

His first lead role in a feature was Road Meat (1988), a comedic precursor to Natural Born Killers (1994) that's never secured wide distribution. He then reunited with Kesler and Woelfel for Beyond Dream's Door (1989), a feature-length remake of their 1983 short film, which has gone on to become a cult classic. Next was Heartland of Darkness (2022), in which he costarred with Linnea Quigley as a sinister reverend who headed a Satanic cult. That film remained unfinished for decades, but it was eventually completed and released to acclaim from the horror community. Several years later, he landed the lead in Brett Piper's low-budget homage to 1950s sci-fi, They Bite (1992), filmed in the Florida panhandle and costarring porn legend Ron Jeremy. Despite garnering a dedicated cult following, "They Bite" has never officially been reissued since its original VHS release.

In addition to his film exploits, Nick played a significant role in Ohio's Actors' Theatre Company. His inaugural role with the company was as Lysander in the production of A Midsummer Night's Dream (1986), a pivotal experience that ignited his passion for Shakespeare. Subsequently, he participated in over 10 Shakespearean productions, earning multiple acting awards. In response to the death of friend Wesley Coleman, Baldasare wrote and began performing his Shakespearean monologue Horatio's Hamlet (2007), which was later adapted as a short film by Woelfel.

More recently, Baldasare reunited with Woelfel to headline the 35mm feature film Asylum of Darkness (2013), sharing the screen with genre legends Richard Hatch and Tim Thomerson. Beyond his film pursuits, Nick's diverse career includes appearances in commercials, industrial films, print advertisements, and the web series Aidan 5 (2009).
