Burbank, CA – Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announced today that A Clockwork Orange, Stanley Kubrick’s 1971 classic dystopian film, will be released on Ultra HD Blu-ray and Digital on September 21. Adapted from Anthony Burgess’s 1962 decline-of-civilization novel, A Clockwork Orange received four Academy Award® nominations; Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay (Based on Material from Another Medium) and Best Film Editing.

Directed, written and produced by Kubrick, the film stars Malcolm McDowell as Alex DeLarge, Warren Clarke, James Marcus and Michael Tarn as his droogs, Patrick Magee and Michael Bates.

In 2020, the United States Library of Congress selected A Clockwork Orange for preservation in the National Film Registry, finding it “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”

The 4K restoration was conducted by Warner Bros.’ Motion Picture Imaging (MPI). Kubrick’s former right-hand man Leon Vitali and the Kubrick Estate worked closely with the team at Warner Bros. during the mastering process.

Jules Duncan’s The Big Yarn and Nir Shelter’s Home won the Monte Miller Awards for the best unproduced scripts presented by the Australian Writers’ Guild in Melbourne on Tuesday night.

"Viddy well, little brother." BFI has released a new trailer for their upcoming re-release of Stanley Kubrick's dystopian thriller A Clockwork Orange, first released in 1972. Set in a flamboyantly stylized near-future where gangs of disenfranchised teenagers indulge in narcotic cocktails and revel in acts of "ultraviolence", the film centres on Alex and his band of droogs. A young Malcolm McDowell stars, with a cast including Patrick Magee, Michael Bates, Warren Clarke, Adrienne Corri, and Carl Duering. Adapted from Anthony Burgess' novel. This is definitely one of Kubrick's wilder films, along with Dr. Strangelove, that has extreme violence and craziness galore. But it is still as genuinely brilliant as everything else he's made. While this year’s Dunkirk brought an intensity to the screen conveying the horrors of what was experienced by the soldiers at Dunkirk, there was a version of that same story that was released back in 1958. It's good to be aware that in the last century alone, the U.S. has been involved in more than a dozen armed conflicts, from World War I to the invasion of Iraq, not including direct or indirect military interventions in countries as disparate as Iran, Guatemala, and Chile. As to be expected in a society that reveres people in uniform, American war movies have almost invariably glorified American soldiers even in those rare instances when they have dared to criticize the military establishment.

Actors Ken Kitson and Louis Emerick are developing a pilot episode for a potential new comedy, along with former series producer and director Alan Jw Bell.

The duo paid hapless policemen Cooper Walsh for several years on the show, before it came to an end in 2010.

They are seeking funding to film either a feature-length film or a short series, and have hinted that other former stars may return.

Associate producer Terry Bartlam said: "When the BBC decided they didn't want to make any more episodes of Last of the Summer Wine it was a double blow for the two actors.

"People were anxious that the series should have a proper ending, with perhaps a feature-length episode to bring it all together.

I’ve never been a huge fan of ghost stories, largely because most of them feel (if you’ll excuse the pun) insubstantial and are more often than not resolved cheaply and without much in the way of originality. On May 31, Warner Home Video honors Stanley Kubrick and his controversial masterpeice A Clockwork Orange with a 40th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray!

The two-disc release includes two newly-produced bonus features: "Turning Like Clockwork," a 25-minute documentary about the film's "ultra-violence" and its cultural impact, and a short documentary with Malcolm McDowell reminiscencing about working closely with the legendary director. This two-disc edition will also contain the feature-length documentaries, Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures and O Lucky Malcolm! The 40th Anniversary Edition will be packaged in a 40-page Blu-ray book with rare photos and production notes.
