Netflix's first big release of 2025, the spy action-comedy Back in Action, has been doing extremely well since its January 17 launch date, hitting over 46.8 million views within its first three days of release, which makes it the streamer's biggest opening weekened for an English-language film since 2022's The Adam Project.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for 2025's Back in Action. The director of Back in Action has discussed the possibility of a sequel. The new Netflix movie is an action-comedy directed and co-written by Horrible Bosses' Seth Gordon that stars Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz (in her first movie role since 2014's Annie) as Matt and Emily, a married couple whose former lives as CIA spies drag them and their kids into an action-packed adventure. The Back in Action cast also includes Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, Kyle Chandler, and Glenn Close.
RadioTimes.com had the opportunity to sit down with Seth Gordon to discuss the ending of Back in Action, which involves Emily and Matt being approached by Baron (Scott) for another mission, this time involving Emily's father. Gordon teased that he has "got some ideas" about what that could involve in a possible sequel, which has not yet been officially greenlit by Netflix.

Back in Action has now debuted on Rotten Tomatoes, and the score marks a lackluster acting return for star Cameron Diaz. Directed by Seth Gordon, the Netflix action-comedy stars Diaz and Jamie Foxx as former CIA operatives Emily and Matt, respectively, as they are pulled back into the world of spycraft after their real identities are exposed. The film marks Diaz's return to acting after 10 years away from the spotlight, and the Back in Action reviews now making their way online are suggesting it might not be a triumphant one.
As the film now becomes available to stream on Netflix, Back in Action's Rotten Tomatoes score has begun to take shape. As of writing, the film stands at a disappointing 25% from 20 reviews, earning it a "Rotten" designation. This score is likely to fluctuate, however, as more reviews are added. There currently aren't enough audience reviews for a Popcornmeter score to take shape,...

If Back In Action serves for no other reason than to be the movie that finally brought Cameron Diaz back in action making movies, than it was worth it.
Yes, this spy action comedy feels derivative as we have seen from Mr. And Mrs. Smith to Jason Bourne (as the film itself references), and as recently as Mark Wahlberg’s Family Plan which saw his character on the run with his unsuspecting family when his past as a secret assassin is outed. In Back In Action, it is longtime married couple Matt (Jamie Foxx) and Emily (Diaz) whose long-ago past as super spies comes home to roost — literally — as their suburban cover and happy family life with their two kids is disrupted when a key final job they did 15 years earlier comes back to haunt them. It brings them out of “retirement” on a mission to keep a certain weapon out of the wrong hands.

Director Seth Gordon’s latest film began with a simple question. “It really started with me just riffing on the kernel of an idea that came to me in the moment,” Gordon tells Tudum. “Which was, ‘What would it be like for Jason Bourne if he had kids? Would he have to retire?’ And [producer Beau Bauman] said, ‘That’s a movie.’ ” That movie? It’s Back in Action.
In the new action film, Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz star as Matt and Emily Reynolds, two suburban parents with a big secret: They’re actually retired secret agents. It turns out raising kids Alice (McKenna Roberts) and Leo (Rylan Jackson) can be just as challenging as high-stakes espionage. When daughter Alice sneaks out to hit the club, Matt and Emily follow her, and Emily gets caught on-camera in a viral video (“Boomers Wreck Dance Party”) that leads Matt and Emily’s...

Update: The Hargreeves siblings’ journey is coming to an end in the fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy. Netflix has released the final trailer for the time-travel drama, which also gives us a glimpse of Nick Offerman’s character as Dr. Gene Thibedeau.
“The world we live in is one big phony baloney lie,” Offerman’s Thibedeau is heard in a voiceover. “That tentacle boy is the key to understanding all the timelines.” Tentacle boy is an apparent reference to Justin H. Min’s Ben Hargreeves, who died during a mission but whose storyline appears to be a focus in Season 4.

Netflix has released the teaser trailer for the fourth and final season of its superhero series “The Umbrella Academy.” The footage, set to the tune of Europe’s 1986 song “The Final Countdown,” sees the Hargreeves siblings stepping out of their regular lives, prepping to band together one last time.
Based on the graphic novel series written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá, the beloved series follows a family of adopted siblings with superpowers working to prevent the end of the world. This season, the Hargreeves are confronted with a new trial: living a normal life. Season 3 saw the siblings lose their superpowers after a complete universe reset.
Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya and Colm Feore all return to the series. Min’s Ben Hargreeves uses his octopus-like tentacles to fling a foe during a fight scene in the trailer.

[This story includes spoilers for the Netflix movie Unfrosted.]
The buzz around Unfrosted is heating up, with Jerry Seinfeld’s heavily fictionalized Pop-Tart origin story now streaming on Netflix.
Seinfeld, who stars in the comedy movie that marks his feature directorial debut, also co-wrote the project’s screenplay. Contributing to the script was Spike Feresten, who worked with Seinfeld on the legendary NBC sitcom Seinfeld, with Feresten having penned one of the show’s most beloved and quotable episodes, “The Soup Nazi.”
During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Feresten discussed some of the most memorable moments for the film that is set in 1963. This includes a plot point involving the Kellogg’s cereal mascots boycotting the company out of concern that the Pop-Tart will make them irrelevant, which leads to a sequence in which the mascots storm the company’s offices à la the attack on the U.S. Capitol Building on Jan. 6, 2021.

What’s the deal with Pop-Tarts? Jerry Seinfeld is here to provide an answer.
Netflix just released the first trailer for “Unfrosted,” Seinfeld’s feature directorial debut that ostensibly explains how Kellogg’s invented the breakfast treat beloved by millions for decades.
“Michigan, 1963. Kellogg’s and Post, sworn cereal rivals, race to create a pastry that will change the face of breakfast forever. A tale of ambition, betrayal, sugar, and menacing milkmen,” reads the Netflix description.
But as shown in the trailer, “Unfrosted” is anything but straight-faced, and instead treats this de facto arms race like an actual arms race, with Post (led by Amy Schumer and Max Greenfield) positioned as the Soviet Union to the United States of Kellogg’s (where Seinfeld and Melissa McCarthy are the heroes). The all-star cast also includes Jim Gaffigan, Hugh Grant, James Marsden, Bill Burr, Christian Slater, Jack McBrayer, Thomas Lennon, and Bobby Moynihan.

Jerry Seinfeld co-writes, directs and stars in Pop Tarts’ origin story, titled Unfrosted, here’s the trailer.
Jerry Seinfeld’s self-titled sitcom Seinfeld remains to this day one of the most successful, not to mention lucrative, sitcoms in television history. Seinfeld co-created the show with Larry David, and starred alongside Jason Alexander, Julia-Lois-Dreyfus and Michael Richards. It followed the trivial goings on in the life of the comedian and his friends.
The shadow of the self proclaimed ‘show about nothing’ still looms large over the American sitcom landscape, with David going on to create and star in Curb Your Enthusiasm. In season 7, David wrote a Seinfeld reunion story arc, culminating in footage from a new episode. The final episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm airs on Sky Atlantic next month.

The space race rarely seemed so serious.
Jerry Seinfeld’s new Netflix comedy Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story charts a challenge that’s cleverly made to seem equally consequential: the ’60s-era battle between Kellogg’s and Post cereal companies to reinvent breakfast with the development of what would come to be known as Pop-Tarts.

Writer, showrunner, director, and executive producer Steve Blackman isn’t going anywhere, though: he’ll write and produce new series and “other projects” at Netflix under his newly established Irish Cowboy production banner, the company said, and is currently developing video-game adaptation “Horizon Zero Dawn” and original concept “Orbital.”

[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for “Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television” Season 2.]
Fans of “Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television*” might find themselves surprised by Season 2, which premiered Wednesday on YouTube Premium, because it ends with the show literally getting canceled by YouTube. “We have not been officially picked up for a third season by YouTube Premium, and we’re certainly available for Season 3, and we’ve got some ideas,...

Ryan Hansen is back to solving crimes on television, and so are a ton of his famous friends — whether they like it (or even know it) or not.
In Season 2, which got a trailer on Monday, Ryan’s back — but he’s with a brand new partner. After Mathers (Samira Wiley) was shot and put into a medically induced coma, tough-guy Vince Vincent (Wood Harris) stepped up to the plate to be the real cop to Hansen’s very not-real one. Together, the two must solve an array of puzzling crimes, all while trying to find Mathers’ shooter, per YouTube’s description.
And yes, the show’s running joke against the platform itself continues for its sophomore run.
