Bury Me When I’m Dead (2025) Movie Review: Fails to Achieve the Intended Gravitas
Image
Under the garb of a thriller, writer-director Seabold Krebs’ feature debut, “Bury Me When I’m Dead” (2025), aims for a profound exploration of grief and regret. However, despite its noble intentions, the film’s generic plot-driven story thwarts its effort to become something more than a genre film. It tests Krebs’ skill, and unfortunately, “Bury Me When I’m Dead” dwindles. The slow and meditative pace comes across as a vapid stylistic choice, not a conducive environment to pull the audience into an examination of the characters’ psyches. As a result, the intended cinematic dignity remains out of reach.

The film starts well, with an intriguing premise. Henry (Devon Terrell) and Catherine (Charlotte Hope) seem to be a happily married couple. They run a cutesy flower shop together. However, their lovey-dovey world is wrecked by the hardest curveball life can throw at you. Cancer. Catherine is diagnosed and said to have only a few weeks to live.

‘Bury Me When I’m Dead’ Trailer – Psychological Horror Inspired by ‘Possession’ & ‘Jacob’s Ladder’
Image
After failing to keep his wife’s dying wish, a man believes he’s being haunted for revenge in Bury Me When I’m Dead.

The psychological horror thriller will be released on VOD in the US on July 18 and in the UK on July 28 via Vertical Entertainment.

It marks the feature debut of writer-director Seabold Krebs, who cites Possession and Jacob’s Ladder among his inspirations.

The film follows Henry as his life spirals out of control. When Catherine is diagnosed with brain cancer, they travel to her childhood home, where he promises to bury her in a remote forest. Meanwhile Henry’s been keeping a secret: their friend Rebecca is pregnant with his child. After Catherine’s sudden death, Henry breaks his promise and returns her body to the city under threat from her powerful father, Gary.

The weight of Henry’s betrayal to Catherine and fear of her overbearing...

‘The Girls on the Bus’ Review: Max’s ‘Chasing Hillary’ Adaptation Earns Affection and Eye Rolls in Nearly Equal Measure
Image
Inspired by, but definitely not closely adapted from, Amy Chozick’s 2018 book Chasing Hillary, The Girls on the Bus may be on Max, but it’s a throwback to a certain type of broad, big-hearted, semi-topical dramedy that TV fans used to associate with The WB.

As a female-forward workplace buddy comedy with soapy undertones, The Girls on the Bus (Chozick and The Vampire Diaries mastermind Julie Plec are credited as creators) is quite good — the casting is strong, the character dynamics appealing. As a show about journalism, The Girls on the Bus is decent — smart about a lot of things, dumb about others, but not disproportionately. As a political thriller, The Girls on the Bus is mostly a crock.

It comes together as a whole that’s not really a guilty pleasure — for the millionth time, stop being guilty about the things you like — but definitely one where you...

Mark Consuelos Eyes The Presidency In ‘The Girls On The Bus’ HBO Max Series
Image
Exclusive: Mark Consuelos has joined the cast of HBO Max’s The Girls on the Bus in a recurring role.

Consuelos will portray a major Hollywood action star-turned-politician who joined the presidential race after a Twitter poll said 46 percent of Americans would vote for him — regardless of party affiliation.

From writers Amy Chozick and Julie Plec, The Girls On The Bus centers on Sadie McCarthy (Melissa Benoist), a journalist who romanticizes Tim Crouse’s Boys on the Bus book and who scrapped her whole life for her own shot at covering a presidential campaign for the paper of record. Sadie hits the trail and eventually bonds with three female competitors, Grace (Carla Gugino), Lola (Natasha Behnam), and Kimberlyn (Christina Elmore). Despite their differences, the women become a found family with a front-row seat to the greatest soap opera in town: the battle for the White House.

‘You’re Not Alone’ DVD Review
Image
Stars: Katia Winter, Leya Catlett, Zach Avery, Emmy James, Lane Bradbury, Richard Bekins, Jerry Dixon, Marceline Hugot, Patrick Hamilton | Written by Andrew Wong | Directed by Eduardo Rodriguez

Director Eduardo Rodriguez has been, at least for me, something of a underrated talent. His first Hollywood movie, Stash House, was an effective action thriller and his follow-up, El Gringo, was a superb film and star-making vehicle for action star Scott Adkins. And – at least for me – his Fright Night sequel-c0me-remake was a decent entry in the franchise and one that I enjoyed more than the Colin Farrell iteration. So when I discovered his latest feature film, You’re Not Alone, was due out this week – after apparently being filmed in 2016 under the title Unwanted – I knew I had to check it out… And I’m glad I did.

You’re Not Alone tells the story of Emma (Katia Winter) who, after the premature death of her estranged husband,...

Vampires Vs. the Bronx Trailer Brings Bloodsucking Fun to Netflix for Halloween
Image
We have a brand new trailer for Vampires Vs. the Bronx. This is set to be part of Netflix's "Netflix and Chills" lineup for Halloween. The streaming service has a bundle of original movies and TV shows coming our way for the spooky season, which should help since many of the typical, annual activities will likely not be happening in 2020. In this case, we have a new vampire flick that sees a group of teenagers going toe-to-toe with the bloodsucking undead creatures. But there is also some clear-cut social commentary going on here as well.

The trailer opens with Gloria, played by Imani Lewis, streaming live from her corner of the Bronx. She marvels at a young man who is just trying to "save the neighborhood," while also questioning the number of missing person flyers that have been posted across her borough. We quickly learn that these missing people...

Vampires vs. The Bronx Trailer Keeps Blood Off the Streets
Jaden Michael, Coco Jones, Gerald Jones, and Gregory Diaz IV in Vampires vs. the Bronx (2020)
Ever wonder what effect a crosstown might have on vampires? Netflix’s upcoming horror comedy is an educational look at an urban problem. There’s a lot of things happening in the neighborhood right now. Keep your eyes open. That may sound vague, but the new Vampires vs. the Bronx trailer is about a silent threat: gentrification. And it’s not just any old white people buying up property in the Boogie Down Bronx; it’s ancient old people who stay that way by sucking the blood out of locals while draining the community of anything special. Have you noticed those missing kids’ posters?

Vampires vs. the Bronx comes from Dominican Republic-raised director Oz Rodriguez, who has worked on Saturday Night Live, A.P. Bio, The Last Man On Earth, and Shrill and Sunnyside. Rodriguez co-wrote the screenplay with Blaise Hemingway (UglyDolls). With the picture being produced by Lorne Michaels, Erin David,...
