Dave Bean actually has had two distinct acting careers. In his 20's & early 30's, he worked mostly in indie films and played lots of cops on various TV shows. He then took advantage of an opportunity to work behind the scenes as a marketing executive for various studios, networks and cable channels. He returned to acting full-time in 2010 and has become a reliable character performer in everything from mega-budget studio films to micro-budget new media productions. You can also hear his voice on TV commercials and audio books.

From 2007 through 2009, served as a corporate liaison between BMW and the Hollywood community, promoting the use of alternative fuel vehicles, primarily the BMW Hydrogen 7.

Attended same college, Eastern Michigan University, as Law & Order SVU's Dann Florek.

Attended same high school in West Bloomfield, Michigan as fellow actor Justin Bartha.

As a long-time semi-pro pitcher, tried out in his late 40's for the new Israel Professional Baseball League. While he was not offered a contract, he accorded himself very well during the pivotal exhibition game in Los Angeles, allowing no runs in his one inning of work on the pitcher's mound.

Studied acting at Beverly Hills Playhouse and SAG-AFTRA Conservatory at AFI, where he is still an active member.

Original paternal family name was MacBean. Heritage is Scottish Jewish. Great-grandfather Simon Bean dropped "Mac" upon arrival in Boston in 1860's. Maternal heritage is German/Russian Jewish (family name was Mueller/Miller).

Dave Bean is related to two notables from Hollywood's Golden Age - Academy Award nominated writer Sidney Davis and MGM Studio Orchestra violinist Harry Davis. The Davis's were brothers and first cousins of Dave's father.

Concurrent with much of his film/TV career, Dave Bean played 17 years of semi-pro baseball (mostly as a left-handed pitcher) and coached college baseball for 5 years (Moorpark College). His final game as a player was in October 2013.

Has appeared in film and TV projects that have been nominated for every major award, including "Moneyball" and "Last Breeze of Summer" (Academy Award), "Starlet" (Independent Spirit), "The Crazy Ones" and "Kroll Show"(People's Choice), "Modern Family" (Emmy, Golden Globes, Bafta, SAG) and "Twin Peaks" (Golden Globes).

Lifelong Democrat; active in liberal causes, especially civil rights, social responsibility and gender equality. Cites FDR, Eleanor Roosevelt, JFK, John Lewis, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama as inspirations.

Produced, Directed and Starred in "Incoming", a finalist for best micro-short film, at the 2021 Vancouver Independent Film Festival (May Awards). The film is a dark comedy that Dave shot on-the-fly while he thought his hotel was coming under attack. The explosions heard throughout the movie were real, the dialogue was completely improvised and filming was accomplished in just one 9 minute take.

When not working, spends most of his time at home in New Mexico.
