Worked as a BBC correspondent during the war years, afterwards alternating comic and dramatic performances as nervously befuddled businessmen, clergy, upper-class toffs or military officers. Had a hit play with "Boys in Brown".

- Regnald Beckwith was born in York in 1908 and made his film debut in Freedom Radio in 1940 which was followed by such films as "Scott of the Antarctic", "The Million Pound Note", "The Captain's Table" and "The V.I.P.s".
