I love Stanley Kubrick‘s classic Stephen King adaptation The Shining (watch it Here) and would probably have a blast watching the movie at the Timberline Lodge in Oregon – which is the place that stood in for the Overlook Hotel in the exterior shots of the location. (The interior scenes were filmed on sets in England.) Chances are, I’m not going to be able to do that any time soon, but some fans are going to have that opportunity later this year! On Set Cinema has announced that they will be showing The Shining at the Timberline Lodge on Sunday, October 6th! The event details can be found at This Link and tickets can be purchased Here.

There’s really no such thing as pleasant renewal when it comes to metamorphosis in a horror movie – only flesh falling off to expose whatever nightmare lurks beneath. It’s not unlike puberty, actually. Since we’re almost hitting the dark lord’s birthday, I thought we could celebrate by remembering some of the most nauseating horror movie transformations ever mashed onto the screen… 10. Ash Splits In Two in Army Of Darkness The deadite spirits have always had a thing for screwing with reflections – but who would have thought to smash your reflection, let it extract itself out as a tiny you, and then swallow it like a pill? Not that Ash did any of that on purpose, but thanks to his actions we now know a handy little way to make an evil clone of yourself. Plus, the splitting process, while kind of disturbing to take part in, seems relatively pain-free if you don’t count...

The Shining
Written by Diane Johnson and Stanley Kubrick based on the novel The Shining by Stephen King
Directed by Stanley Kubrick
USA 1980 imdb
Quebec’s only documentary film festival, Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montréal – Ridm, starts Wednesday, November 7th. One of the most highly anticipated docs is Room 237, a film about the obsessive deep analysis of Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 horror film, The Shining. Theories explored in the documentary range from the plausible (The Overlook Hotel was built on an Indian burial ground and the ghosts are manifestations of the dead Indians need for revenge on the White culture that killed them) to the implausible (the film is a Holocaust metaphor) to – well, that’s a stretch (the film is a meditation on the myth of the Minotaur and the Labyrinth) to – wait What? (the film is Kubrick’s coded confession that he faked the Apollo Moon landing...

There were few scenes more powerful in Stanley Kubrick's classic 1980 film The Shining than the one featuring the infamous nude ghost in the bathtub who seduces Jack (Jack Nicholson) before she transforms into a hideous ghoul.
It has haunted horror fans for decades and rightly so. Now Movie Geeks United has uncovered a rare interview with the younger version of the original tub girl, model Lia Beldam, and posted it online for all to revel in.

As a young boy, one of the most erotic, yet simultaneously terrifying moments in Stanley Kubrick's 1980 horror classic The Shining is the nude woman in the bathtub who chokes Danny (Danny Lloyd) and then seduces Jack (Jack Nicholson) before she transforms into a hideous ghoul. Said woman was model Lia Beldam, who appears in the following unedited rare interview from Movie Geeks United's ongoing The Kubrick Series! The uncut interview explores Beldam's experience working with the late Kubrick, and such big stars including Jack Nicholson. "Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) gets a job as the custodian of the Overlook Hotel, in the mountains of Colorado. The place is closed down during winter, and Torrance and his family will be the only occupants of the hotel for a long while. When the snow storms block the Torrance family in the hotel, Jack's son Danny - who has some clairvoyance and telepathy...
