SAG-AFTRA’s upcoming election is taking shape, with the union’s ruling party – headed by presidential candidate Fran Drescher – today unveiling its full slate of candidates.
Yvette Nicole Brown is running for president of the Los Angeles local, and Ezra Knight is running for president of the union’s New York local – each as part of the ruling parties’ Unite for Strength and Usan slate. Brown, a national board member, is nominated for an Emmy for A Black Lady Sketch Show, and Knight, who co-starred for many years on Law & Order, is the New York local’s vice president and a national board member.
“I believe nothing in our union works unless we are all working together,” Brown said. “As L.A. president I will advocate for each and every member and lead with kindness and respect. It’s been a tough time for us as work here in...

James Van Der Beek is one of the 12 celebrities on “Dancing with the Stars” Season 28, but this won’t be his first time on the show. Sort of.
Remember “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23”? The short-lived ABC sitcom that ran from two seasons on which the “Dawson’s Creek” alum played a vain, narcissistic version of himself? Yeah, well, that James Van Der Beek was on “Dancing.” In the “Apartment 23” Season 1 finale, which aired in May 2012, James is cast on “Dancing” and develops a heated rivalry with Dean Cain after he learns that the former Superman has a larger dressing room.
The storyline carried over into Season 2, and Karina Smirnoff, who at the time had just won Season 13 of “Dancing” with J.R. Martinez, guest-starred as Dean’s partner. James wasn’t partnered with a real “Dancing” pro on the show, but rather the fictional Angie Beckencort (Missi Pyle), who was not great,...

Supernatural, Season 9, Episode 12: “Sharp Teeth”
Written by Adam Glass
Directed by John F. Showalter
Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW
In the Winchesters’ line of work, not hearing from Hunters for long periods of time is not unexpected. Sam and Dean’s entire childhood is filled with stories of John going away for weeks on end, even when both brothers were fully trained Hunters. Thus, the disappearance of Garth, though disconcerting, did not raise any flags, particularly as the Winchesters had bigger problems in the form of Crowley and co. This week’s episode delves into the cause of Garth’s disappearance, in an entertaining outing that opens up some potential storylines for the show.
Having Garth turn into a werewolf is an intriguing exploration of the dangers inherent in a hunter’s life. It’s an inherent truth on the show that...

On Sunday's (April 15) episode of "Mad Men," Megan (Jessica Paré) couldn't remember Ken Cosgrove's wife's name: Cynthia. And we understand the feeling because something about Cynthia has been nagging at us, too. The same thing goes for the buff dude who swooped in to Pete Campbell's Drivers Ed class and totally swept his jailbait crush off her feet.
First, though, back to Cynthia Cosgrove. She's played by Larisa Oleynik who, despite the homely "Mad Men" wig, is the same super-cutie who first hit our radar as the star of the mid-'90s Nickelodeon hit "The Secret World of Alex Mack." Since then, she's turned up in everything from "10 Things I Hate About You" (she was Julia Stiles' perfect little sister) to CBS' "Hawaii Five-0" reboot where she played CIA analyst Jenna Kaye.
About that buff dude: In the show, he was introduced as Jim Hanson (aka "Handsome"), the guy...

Today My Damn Channel launched Versailles (pronounced Ver-sales), a new original comedy starring David Hunt, Fred Willard, Martha MacIsaac, Eve Gordon, and featuring William H. Macy and Patricia Heaton. The weekly 8 episode series is about a brother and sister who broadcast public access talk show You're In Sports! from the basement of their local library in order to "live out their fantasies and escape the legacy of their dearly departed mother, a TV star and B-movie actress." Hoyt Hoogerhyde (Willard) finaces the public access sports talks show for his wife Summer Tickler-Hoogenhyde (Gordon) and her grown sibling Colin Tickler (Hunt). Hunt's real wife Heaton plays the late mother, '60s era B-movie actress Evelyn Anders (whose career included films No Phone of Her Own, It's In The Jeans, Please Don't Frug on My Bippy, Kill, Hippie! Kill! Kill!). Evelyn's former student is hilariously portrayed by William H. Macy, as himself.

To my knowledge, Christopher Guest has yet to do a web series—and I’m not counting those controversial Super Bowl ads he directed for Groupon. So that leaves the mess of online mockumentaries devoid of Guest’s distinctive improv-driven repertory comedy. Luckily David Hunt and (his wife) Patricia Heaton are about to bring us something that should tide us over in the form of Versailles which sets for a May 9th debut on My Damn Channel. Hunt directed and created the series, pronounced “Ver-sales,” (along with Rodney Vaccaro), also starring as Colin Tickler, the son of the late B-movie actress Evelyn Anders (Heaton). Tickler and his sister Summer (Eve Gordon) set out to launch a public access sports TV show from the basement of the local library in hopes of grasping what little notoriety their mother bestowed upon them. Mockumentaries wouldn’t be the same without Fred Willard who...

The 4th annual Sydney Underground Film Festival, which runs for three days on Sept. 9-11, will screen about 10 features from all over the world and a veritable ton of short films from even further out there.
The fest will open with the latest documentary by a Hollywood icon. It’s Oliver Stone’s South of the Border, which has the director meeting with South American politicians and dignitaries. (The film opened to mixed reviews here in the States earlier this year.) Also screening is Trash Humpers, the latest film by indie rabble-rouser Harmony Korine, which has been confounding audiences on the indie film fest circuit, and Gaspar Noe’s Enter the Void, which has been earning rave reviews.
The rest of the features in the lineup are an eclectic, oddball concoction, including Mladen Djordjevic‘s Serbian atrocity Life and Death of a Porno Gang, Victor Nieuwenhuijs and Maartje Seyferth’s twisted Netherlands tale Meat,...
