Margaret Prentice grew-up in a suburb of Los Angeles California. After
graduation from high school, Margaret attended Pasadena City College in
Pasadena California. There she took photography, art & cosmetology
classes.
After graduation from college, Margaret began an apprenticeship under special make-up, and creature effects designer, Rob Bottin. Margaret worked in Rob's early shop becoming "One of the guys", starting off by tying hair onto a body suit on the low budget movie "Tanya's Island".
With Rob Bottin she worked on every aspect of creating special make-up and creature effects. Margaret learned fabrication, sculpting, casting, seaming, patching, cosmetic painting and hair punching. Also helping Rob on set setting up make-up effects. Later on in his studio she became Rob Bottin's head cosmetic painter, and on set applied prosthetic make-up effects.
Margaret Prentice has worked with Rob Bottin on such ground breaking films as; "The Howling", The Thing", "Legend" and "Total Recall". As well as many of Rob's other well known films, such as; "Twilight Zone: the Movie", "Basic Instinct", "Mission Imposable", "Se7en", and "Fight Club".
After working on the pilot, special make-up designer Rick Baker gave Margaret the daily task of applying prosthetic make-up as the special make-up artist who turned Ron Perlman into the romantic charter "Vincent" for the full run of the television series "Beauty and the Beast".
Margaret has also worked with Rick Baker applying special make-up on many of his projects, including; "Coming to America", "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", "Men in Black II", "Click", and most recently "Men in Black 3".
Margaret Prentice has worked often with the film industry's top award winning special make-up and visual effects artists, including; Rob Bottin, Rick Baker, Stan Winston, Greg Cannom, Ve Neil and Randall William Cook, to mention just a few.
Margaret has applied special make-up and cosmetic paint for many Academy Award nominated and Oscar winning films, such as; "The fly", "Legend", "Beetlejuice, "Coming to America", Total Recall", "Star Trek VI", "Bicentennial Man", "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", "A Beautiful Mind", Click" and "Star Trek (2009)".
Margaret Prentice has 30 years working experience in film and television, in pre-production and on set. And is an active member of Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Local 706.
