Chris Jericho Once Took A Dig At WWE For Disrespecting The Icons(Photo Credit –YouTube/Instagram)
It’s no lie that Chris Jericho made his entire career during his stint with WWE. He was one of the most prominent figures during the Attitude Era, and even later, he maintained his superstar status with his mic skills and entertaining persona. However, a few years back, he cut ties with the promotion and joined the rival camp, Aew. Ever since then, he has been vocal about the negatives of his ex-company.
Aew (All Elite Wrestling) was founded in 2019, and Tony Khan serves as its president and CEO. When this promotion was founded, it became a major attraction in the pro wrestling world, and several WWE stars jumped ship. The real shocker was witnessed when veterans like Jericho, Mark Henry, Big Show, and Sting joined Khan’s promotion.

Ole Anderson, a legendary professional wrestler best known as a founding member of the popular Four Horsemen faction alongside Arn Anderson, Ric Flair, and Tully Blanchard, has died. He was 81. WWE confirmed Ole’s passing on Monday, first online and then on-air during Monday Night Raw, referring to the iconic grappler as a “prolific and decorated tag team wrestler.” A cause of death was not given. “A founding member of The Four Horsemen, Ole’s hard-nosed style and gruff demeanor helped define the group as one of the greatest stables in sports-entertainment history,” WWE shared in a statement. “Trained by WWE Hall of Famer Verne Gagne, Anderson was a prolific and decorated tag team wrestler, most famously alongside Arn Anderson in The Minnesota Wrecking Crew,” the statement continued. “When the duo then joined forces with Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, and manager J.J. Dillon, they established the iconic stable known as The Four Horsemen.

Welcome to this review of Aew’s Full Gear, which looks to be yet another huge pay per view for All Elite Wrestling – with matches featuring Bryan Danielson, Miro, the Inner Circle, American Top Team, Britt Baker, Tay Conti, The Lucha Brothers, Ftr, Mjf, Darby Allin and Two highly-anticipated matches between Eddie Kingston and Cm Punk, and Kenny Omega versus ‘Hangman’ Adam Page… And we get some wonderful tributes to the legend that was Eddie Guerrero too!
The Buy-in: Match #1: Hikaru Shida & Thunder Rosa def. Nyla Rose w/Vickie Guerrero & Jamie Hayter
My Thoughts: Thunder Rosa and Hikaru Shida used their size and agility really well in the early going of this match to take down Nyla Rose. [Author’s Note: Darby Allin, who’s been accused of rape, is on this show and if that alarms or upsets you, then viewer discretion is advised]. Match #1: Andrade El Idolo (w/ Chavo Guerrero) def. Pac The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:
The Verdict: 8 out of 10 – This was a damn good match. It was worth waiting for. Both fighters worked well together and delivered the kind of fast, aerial action that blended the more modest kind of wrestling that you might find in a WWE match with the raucous mayhem many were expecting. Measured is a word I’d actually attribute to this bout. You get equal parts stunts and strikes being mixed into this Poop Deck Pappy.

Welcome to this week’s Monday Night Raw review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and Woody Allen creeps me out. Blagaingo! This is the final show before Starrcade. I love Starrcade. The 1980s are a sterling time in wrestling. You get the best matches from all corners of the National Wrestling Alliance. Greg Valentine, Roddy Piper, Nikita Koloff, Dusty Rhodes, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Magnum Ta and Ric Flair are some of the biggest stars in wrestling. The Road Warriors and The Steiner Brothers battle The Midnight Express and The Rock N’ Roll Express for tag supremacy as Jim Cornette falls fat-ass first from a scaffold every week on TBS Superstation. We have MTV and steroids and f—ked-up hair-styles and Traci Lords (who is at least 18 for sure), all of which will last forever and never lose their luster. Cobra is the greatest movie ever made.

Aew wrestler, co-founder and executive vice president Cody Rhodes lost his “Rhodes” for legal reasons when he left WWE. “The American Nightmare” has the rights back now but still won’t use his family’s adopted surname in the ring or on wrestling TV, he said on Thursday.
On other television shows, however, it’s a different story.
“I’m very happy about being Cody Rhodes again. The details of it all aren’t important other than it was a very positive, no-hard-feelings-on-either-side type scenario,” Cody said. “I will say though, it’s not something I probably will use in the wrestling space.”

Welcome to this week’s All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we’ve got the big Moxley/Cage main event to get to, as well as the location of the stolen Death Star plans. There’s a very nice card here to enjoy, so let’s make like Chewbacca and pull the arms out of the sockets of this review ya fuckin’ Wookies, because it’s time for Aew: Fight For The Fallen.
Match #1: Cody [Rhodes] (with Arn Anderson) def. Sonny Kiss – Aew TNT Championship Match The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:
“This is the biggest night of Sonny’s career,” said Excalibur. Cody booted Sonny with a pump kick right at the bell! Cody tried to end it quickly with a Disaster Kick! Sonny kicked out at two and rolled to the outside while Arn gave Cody some tough coaching.

Following my list of the Ten Best WrestleMania Matches of the 1990s, I was sent down a rabbit-hole of watching every WrestleMania again and figured it might be cool to do the same for the 80s. Now, the 80s doesn’t have as many matches to choose from like the 90s did, and the 00s and 2010s will, but there’s still five WrestleMania events to dive into, so I thought it would be cool either way. Plus… there are some damn fine matches to be found in those first five Mania events. Sure… the workrate in many areas of the WWF during that time wasn’t as great as it would become, but there’s still plenty of iconic and entertaining matches, many featuring the same group of guys. So, here it is, my top ten of the best WrestleMania Matches of the 1980s.

All Elite Wrestling’s PPV schedule is more sporadic than WWE’s. When they did their last show, Aew Revolution, it was on Leap Day. It was a different time. The coronavirus was still in the “not that big deal” phase where delaying the new James Bond movie seemed like a silly, exaggerated response. The match of the night was Hangman Page and Kenny Omega vs. the Young Bucks and the aftermath was very open-ended as all four men and Cody were set to take on the Inner Circle in what was supposed to be Aew’s version of War Games.
Soon after, they did a show in Jacksonville with no audience due to Covid-19 concerns. Next thing you know, they’re at Qt Marshall’s training facility in Georgia for a month’s worth of tapings, featuring 1/3 of the Aew roster and a handful of indie wrestlers. The Young...

Arn Anderson was a legend in the world of professional wrestling. He was a member of the Four Horsemen, and alongside Tully Blanchard, he is considered one of the best tag team wrestlers in history. He also worked for years behind-the-scenes as a producer for WWE. John Cena considered him a friend and credited him with helping him develop into...

Welcome to this week’s Aew: Dynamite review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have an empty arena show that has more wrestling without a crowd, thanks to the coronavirus panic. I just heard about the first American to get this and he said that if you get it, then get up and stay active, because the virus crystalizes in your lungs and makes it hard to breathe. No wonder why the old and sickly are so prone to this. If you’re young and/or healthy, then it sounds like getting out and about is not the worst thing to do, but the old should just stay in their homes where we young bucks can’t get those elderly sick. Also, old folks are constantly telling us that we are making this (albeit serious) illness out to be more than it is. Our elders have...

Welcome to this edition of The Last Week In Wrestling, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have the last edition of this column for this year and (some would argue) this decade. I’m not going to get into the method of determining where the decade ends here, because who gives a s—? We’ve got some great matches to cover in this last recap of the year, so let’s get to it before Dick Clark drops a ball on my head…but you’d like that, wouldn’t you?
Best Moment:
Seeds For Big Plants Are Planted To Make Big Plants From Seeds (World Wrestling Entertainment) – The title for this one sucks. Any-way, the rivalry with The Miz And Daniel Bryan got a huge dose of reality injected into it over the past few weeks, thanks to Bray Wyatt waging war on each man’s personal life.

Welcome to this week’s Impact Wrestling review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have the final appearance of Lax in Impact, as they are moving on to All Elite Wrestling. They’ve had an excellent run in Impact, doing great things with a gimmick that they never really fit into that well. Also, I’m still pissed that Two Guys, A Girl And A Pizza Place got rid of the pizza place. Where’s the damn pizza? Stupid ABC. A man took a boy and his ax into a forest. The boy looked at the man and his ax and said “I’m scared”. The man looked back to the boy and said “Yeah, well…I’m the one who has to walk back by himself”. That’s what it feels like watching Impact Wrestling sometimes, but the main event of Lax and Rich Swann...

Best Promo:
King Corbin, Lord Of The Ring (WWE) – Baron Corbin cut a hell of a promo on any-one he thought doubted his ability to become the King Of The Ring. The man may not be a great wrestler, but he is getting mic skills like I can’t even believe.
Best Moment:
…And The Ground Shook… (All Elite Wrestling) – Arn Anderson gave Tully Blanchard a Spine-Buster so perfect it made the crowd erupt in praise. If Arn could still wrestle, he’d be in every marquee bout for the rest of the year, at least.

Match #1: Nyla Rose defeated Leva Bates, Faby Apache, Priscilla Kelly, Solandra Royale, Penelope Ford, Shazza McKenzie, Sadie Gibbs, Big Swole, Britt Baker, Tenille Dashwood, Bea Priestly, Brandi Rhodes, Awesome Kong, Allie, Nicole Savoy, Teal Piper, Odb, Jazz and Mercedes Martinez – Casino Battle Royale Match
My Opinion: 2.4 out of 5 – The closing stretch of this match made it fun to watch. I would’ve gone with Martinez as the winner, but Nyla will do fine, I think.

Aew crowned its first champion tonight. Who held up the gold when the smoke cleared? We have the results.
With only a couple months until All Elite Wrestling starts airing on TNT, they’re gearing up for one of their bigger shows with Aew All Out. This is the one year anniversary follow-up to All In, the indie party PPV that Cody and the Young Bucks put together back in 2018. Since establishing Aew, the promotion did a huge introduction show in Double or Nothing, then two lesser shows in Fyter Fest and Fight for the Fallen. Now they’re building towards what will apparently be one of their four big annual PPVs.
One of the reasons why it's so big? We’ll finally have ourselves an Aew World Champion via this show.

You know… I don’t think many of today’s wrestling fans, the casual viewers anyway, realise just how f@cking good tag team wrestling can be.
It isn’t hard to find a good tag team match nowadays. I mean, all you have to do is watch an Nxt TakeOver Special and it’s likely you’ll see a blinding tag team encounter. If you popped over to Aew for their Double or Nothing event then you will have seen a couple of top notch ones too. New Japan presents them regularly, Nxt UK has shown us some great ones… they’re out there, if you look for them.
My early memories of tag team wrestling saw the likes of The Hart Foundation, Demolition, The Road Warriors, The Rockers and The Orient Express putting on short but sweet tag team clinics in WWF. I have fond memories of seeing...

Welcome to this review of Impact Wrestling’s Rebellion Pay Per View, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have plenty of big matches to get to, so let’s see if it all turns out great.
Match #1: Ace Austin beat Eddie Edwards, Petey Williams, Jake Crist, Aiden Prince and Cousin Jake – 6 – Man Scramble Match
My Opinion: 3 out of 5 – This was all sorts of fantastic moves. Everybody had a dance partner if they wanted one, which helps things quite a bit. It’s a shame that Eddie got stuffed in this match at the last minute, but this definitely proves that Eli Drake is truly out of Impact, since he was supposed to wrestle Eddie originally. Hey, Petey got on PPV, so that’s another great piece of news. As for the match, this was the greatest hits kind of thing, but gloriously so. Over-all, Ace...

Match #1: Jake Strong beat Drago
This was a nice little match that was an even affair for both men. Both competitors looked good here and were able to show what they can do. It was nice to see that the difference in size was ignored, as that part of booking and promoting has been out-dated for close to thirty years. If Bruce Lee can legitimately beat an opponent of any size (people didn’t go watch his movies because he could act) then why can’t professional wrestling completely embrace a short man beating a tall man? People like Vince McMahon and Billy Corgan need to let go of the size thing, because people don’t care about if Rey Mysterio is shorter than the Undertaker,...

Match #1: Taiji Ishimori beat Petey Williams – X Division Match
My Take: These two opened the card and had a good showing. Taiji made a big gamble by leaving Pro Wrestling Noah, but I imagine after all that happened with Noah and the Yakuza, a certain limit has been placed on what Noah can offer for a wrestler’s career. Taiji has also been working as the Bone Soldier for New Japan Pro Wrestling, from what I’ve read and seen. I hope he gets to keep wrestling people like Petey, who has had a rough road to returning to wrestling, more so because of how many promoters have taken his skills for granted.

Nxt: Takeover Toronto occurred Saturday night and man, what a show it was. Nxt on the WWE Network is one of the best wrestling shows out there and for good reason. Too often in wrestling today, companies want to over complicate things with over dramatic storylines that border, and often fall, into ludicrousness. Nxt strips back some of the nonsense that has become commonplace in wrestling today and brings it back to basics.
Match #1-Bobby Roode vs Tye Dillinger
Before the match even starts, we get Booby Roode’s entrance and man was it a trip. A choir is on stage singing his theme song. Was it silly? Yes. But it also played into the over confidence his character has. A perfect meld of song and performer.
Tye Dillinger comes out and his outfit made him look like an extra from the movie Barbarella. The jury is still out on his character.

I’ve often said that I find the history WWE Blu-Ray releases the best, so when one was released celebrating the Us Championship I was obviously looking forward to it. Although we often see people like John Cena dominating the belt these days it has one of the more interesting histories of any of the belts. WWE – The Us Championship: A Legacy of Greatness reveals just how varied this history is.
The fact that WWE now has a huge library of footage from all kinds of wrestling federations from the past allows them to pull out some real gems. These include matches that aren’t even complete, and don’t feature commentary. This is the case of Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat with Andre the Giant as guest referee. Filmed in 1978 in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling it is a nice addition for the history loving wrestling fan, especially those who love Andre.

The timing is right for WWE to bring back stable with a familiar name: The Four Horsemen. The name is synonymous with one of the most famous groups in the history of wrestling, right up there with the New World Order and D-Generation X.
What’s interesting about the Four Horsemen is that they were only in WCW and once WWE bought the company in 2001, they never created a stable with the Horsemen name. Why not now?
The closest stable in the history of WWE that was like the Four Horsemen was the Evolution foursome of Triple H, Randy Orton, Batista and original Horseman Ric Flair. Just like the Horsemen did at various points in their run, the Evolution group held all the titles at the same time to show how dominant they were.

When it comes to the art of tag team wrestling, there are certain traits that any duo must possess before they find their groove as a team and can be considered elite workers. Teamwork, a familiarity with each other and an ability to always know what each other is thinking are essential qualities.
When you look back at the top teams in the sport’s history, all these are prevalent in each pairing. Teams like The Midnight Express, Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard and The Dudley Boyz exhibited an almost sixth sense-like level of being in tune with each other in the ring.
As hard to fathom as it may be, great chemistry behind the scenes isn’t always a prerequisite for great chemistry in the ring. While common sense would dictate that two performers would need to get along well in order to form a cohesive unit, that isn’t always the case.

The world of professional wrestling has, for many years, featured hundreds of various alliances, groups of men and women who, for countless reasons, teamed together in order to achieve something that they would be unable to achieve alone. Be it a group of good guys sticking together, as friends, to take down the heels, or the bad guys forming a gang as a way to intimidate, attack and overthrow the babyfaces. It has worked for decades and continues to this very day, with factions such as The Shield and The Wyatt Family (oh… and don’t forget 3Mb) running rough-shot through WWE on their way to super-stardom. But, like I said, factions aren’t a new thing, they’ve been around for as long as steel folding chairs, brittle announce tables and sneaky managers, and this release is WWE’s look at some of the standout factions that have firmly...

When you picture what a professional wrestler is supposed to look like you probably picture someone like John Cena or Hulk Hogan. A larger-than-life character who has huge muscles and looks like he could snap you in half like a twig. Wrestlers have evolved into walking action figures with physiques that look like they were carved out of granite.
However, that’s not always the case. There have been quite a few wrestlers who simply don’t look like they could run ten feet, let alone wrestle a 15 minute match. These workers appear like they have never even seen the inside of a gym and the only workouts they get are 12 oz. curls. Chances are that the only workout partners these wrestlers ever had were Colonel Sanders and Ronald McDonald.
Yet, these workers all found a degree of success in wrestling. Some of them got by based on their charisma,...

Some wrestlers only get one shot at the big time. Here are the Royal Rumble competitors who made the best of it...and those who didn't.
There’s something truly special about the Royal Rumble. It’s creative and filled with so many possibilities. Well, not always possibilities. There are certain years where the winner is so set in stone that even a child can find it obvious a month in advance. Yet they still rule because once every year, WWE puts on a wrestling party. A bunch of the roster will take part in one match and we get to see a snapshot of the company.
Older Royal Rumbles are like a class photo or a time capsule that best represent the year or even era and one thing that really magnifies what the Royal Rumble is all about is the one-timer. The kind of wrestler...

It’s the easiest paradigm in the world of Sports Entertainment that the business is cyclical. Kids who liked it when they were still true believers come back to it as adults and watch it with their kids — or they get involved in the business — and angles that used to put asses in seats, are recycled every couple of years or so. But this is a list of six old school concepts they could interject into Any part of their midcard and get viewers back into paying attention to their product again.
Let’s get it on…
5. The Man Makes The Title
Triple H – the executive in charge of Talent has famously said ‘The man makes the title, not the other way around.’ And, honestly, that’s true. Think back on heels you hated, I mean viciously hated with all your vitriol. Chances are, if you’re in your thirties now,...

WWE asked for and got fan input to determine the content of “The 25 Greatest Rivalries” Blu-ray and DVD, and, unlike the weekly Twitter/WWE App votes on Raw which most of us net fans suspect are rigged, fan input clearly shows in the final cut. In the pantheon of great movie heroes there's one thing that is guaranteed to make them shine, to drive them to push themselves to be the best they can be, to get the crowd on their side, screaming and shouting for them to beat the odds and win the day. That one thing is a great villain. A nemesis.
John McClane would have still been great kicking ass up and down the stairwells of Nakatomi Plaza in Die Hard, but with Alan Rickman's Hans Gruber to contend with, we cheered that little bit louder. Likewise Rocky Balboa. Whether facing off against Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang or the supremely nefarious Ivan Drago it was the chemistry between the forces of good and evil that ignited the passion in our hearts, that made us care about what we were watching.
Alfred Hitchcock was right on the money when he said “The more successful the villain,...
