Cheerful, buoyant leading lady and singer of 1950s German and Austrian comedies, operettas and bucolic romances (Heimatfilms). The daughter of operatic tenor Hans Heinz Bollmann and his wife Friedel, Hannelore began acting on screen from the age of 22. Between 1953 and 1958, she was married to the director Franz Antel who frequently cast her in his films. Bollmann achieved her greatest popularity as the star or second lead in such lightweight fare as Auf der grünen Wiese (1953), Das fröhliche Dorf (1955), the remake of Der Kongreß tanzt (1955), Das Sonntagskind (1956) and Kaiserball (1956). Her second husband was the producer Rudolf Travnicek with whom she had a son. After her retirement from acting in the mid-60s she latterly resided in Los Angeles and remarried once more and used the name Hannelore Bollmann-Cantor.
She died in Santa Barbara, California, on April 7, 2023, at the ripe old age of 98.
