- Served as a pageboy at the wedding of Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand during the Deliverance (1972) shoot. When Bertrand gave birth to her second child June 4, 1975, Boorman ended up being the first-ever male to hold Angelina Jolie in his arms. Boorman was 8 and Jolie was but an infant.
- A non-fatal brush with cancer in 2010 necessitated the removal of a testicle which was replaced with a prosthesis. Boorman quipped, "I had it whipped out and I have a false testicle in there now. If I bury myself, the only thing that will probably be left is a silicone testicle lying in the coffin".
- Charley and Ewan McGregor first met on the set of The Serpent's Kiss (1997). It wasn't until both men discovered they shared a mutual passion for motorcycles that their friendship was finally sealed.
- Lee Marvin served as his godfather. Marvin acted in two movies directed by Charley's dad John Boorman: Point Blank (1967) and Hell in the Pacific (1968).

- Charley's father John Boorman is a huge friend of Jon Voight. Charley was the first male to hold Jon Voight's baby daughter. The daughter grew up to become Angelina Jolie.
- First motorbike that he ever owned was a Yamaha DT100. Because he was too young to hold a license, he could only ride the bike off-road.
