Édouard Bourdet was born on 26 October 1887 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Seine-et-Oise [now Yvelines], France. He was a writer and actor, known for Vient de paraître (1949), Fric-Frac (1939) and Weaker Sex (1933). He was married to Denise Bourdet and Catherine Pozzi. He died on 17 January 1945 in Paris, France.

Twice wounded during World War I, he was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal, the Légion d&#39;Honneur and the Croix de Guerre.

General administrator of the Comédie-Française (October 1936 - December 1940).

Friends with <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0165227/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Paul Claudel</a> and <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0320824/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Jean Giraudoux</a>.
