    Italian poet, novelist, journalist and dramatist who married the actress Anna Proclemer. In 1920 he joined the Fascist movement, but abandoned it in 1937 and started teaching in Sicily. Having been born into a bourgeois family, his work dealt with the Sicilian bourgeoisie. His early works were censored because of their erotic content.
