Per-Axel Branner, born Larsson, in Linköping 1899, was a Swedish actor, director, writer and theater manager. He was educated at the Royal Dramatic Training Academy in Stockholm 1919-1921. Subsequently employed at several theaters and also active as a screenwriter and director in the film industry. As theater manager and CEO he developed the artistic repertoire by incorporating dance and mime in the performances. Branner directed 17 feature films and several shorts and TV-productions. He was married to the celebrated actress Gunn Wållgren from 1954 to his death in 1975.
