Peter Brosens is a Belgian independent film producer and director whose films have accumulated 400 festival selections and 75 awards, including top awards for both fiction and non-fiction. Peter is producer of Jessica Woodworth's feature LUKA (2023) and Mattias Bavré's debut Zlata (2023). Between 1993 and 1999 he produced and co-directed his internationally acclaimed 'Mongolia Trilogy', consisting of City of the Steppes (Winner of the 1994 Cinéma du Réel 'Joris Ivens Award'), State of Dogs (Winner of the 1998 Nyon Visions du Réel 'Grand Prix') and Poets of Mongolia (1999). He then went on to write, direct and produce feature films with Jessica Woodworth: Khadak (Winner of the 2006 Venice 'Lion of the Future'), Altiplano (Cannes, 2009), The Fifth Season (2012 Venice Golden Lion nom.), the 2016 Venice hit King of the Belgians (EFA Best European Comedy nom.) and the sequel The Barefoot Emperor (TIFF 2019). Peter is a 1995 EAVE graduate and he was member of various festival juries, incl. Odessa (President), Sao Paulo, Zagreb and IDFA. Peter is managing director of Bo Films in Gent, Belgium.
