The Devil Wears Prada Writer Reacts to Viral Sequel Set Photos
Image
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is filming and paparazzi have descended on the set to snap photos of the stars. Many of those photos have gone viral across the internet, leaving the writer of The Devil Wears Prada and its sequel, Aline Brosh McKenna, to comment on the discourse.

She spoke to IndieWireabout the photography issue, and she was in favor of the paparazzi taking snaps. “People will stand outside just for a glimpse of these actors and these characters that they love because seeing them in wardrobe has really excited people, especially since it’s a fashion movie,” she said from the Met, a location in the film. “We knew there would be a lot of interest. I personally hadn’t experienced this level of people coming out [to the set], but it’s the world we live in. In many ways, we’re speaking to a different world than we did...

‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Scribe Aline Brosh McKenna Addresses Viral Set Photos: “What An Honor That People Are Still Interested”
Image
The Devil Wears Prada 2 scribe Aline Brosh McKenna is a-ok with the many eyes on David Frankel’s highly anticipated sequel.

Addressing the viral set photos that have proliferated on the internet, the pic’s original screenwriter spoke with IndieWire amid production about the hubbub around the project, saying it’s “an honor” to have so many viewers keen to see its development.

“People will stand outside just for a glimpse of these actors and these characters that they love because seeing them in wardrobe has really excited people, especially since it’s a fashion movie,” McKenna told the publication. “We knew there would be a lot of interest. I personally hadn’t experienced this level of people coming out [to the set], but it’s the world we live in.”

She continued, “In many ways, we’re speaking to a different world than we did in 2006 … It stems from like a legitimate...

‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Screenwriter Says It’s an ‘Honor’ to Have So Much Attention on Set Photos: ‘We Knew There Would Be a Lot of Interest’
Image
“The Devil Wears Prada 2” screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is just as excited as the fans about the sequel’s on-set photos.

McKenna recently told IndieWire that the early attention can only help the film, despite some who think the sneak peaks will spoil the plot and the fashion.

“People will stand outside just for a glimpse of these actors and these characters that they love because seeing them in wardrobe has really excited people, especially since it’s a fashion movie,” McKenna said. “We knew there would be a lot of interest. I personally hadn’t experienced this level of people coming out [to the set], but it’s the world we live in. In many ways, we’re speaking to a different world than we did in 2006. … It stems from like a legitimate desire to see these characters again. As long as everyone’s safe, what an honor that people are still interested.

‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna Doesn’t Mind Those Viral Sequel Set Photos
Image
Are you looking at “The Devil Wears Prada” sequel set photos? Yeah, we are — and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna approves.

While fans are clamoring for a peek at Anne Hathaway back as Andy Sachs and Meryl Streep reprising her Oscar-nominated role of Miranda Priestly (allegedly inspired by Anna Wintour), “The Devil Wears Prada 2” photos have already ignited a viral storm: Are the images spoiling the fashion? Or perhaps even the plot?

McKenna disagrees. In fact, she welcomes the online discord and can even relate to the excitement.

“People will stand outside just for a glimpse of these actors and these characters that they love because seeing them in wardrobe has really excited people, especially since it’s a fashion movie,” McKenna told IndieWire while on set filming on the Met steps. “We knew there would be a lot of interest. Adrian Grenier excluded from the ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ sequel
Image
Adrian Grenier will not be taking part in the sequel to ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, leaving out his controversial character.

Adrian Grenier will not be returning for the much-anticipated sequel to ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, according to Entertainment Weekly. The actor, known for playing Nate Cooper, the contentious boyfriend of Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), will not be part of the new cast bringing to life the second instalment of the hit 2006 film.

The decision has sparked debate among fans of the film, especially since Nate’s character has been identified in recent years as one of the story’s main antagonists. His consistently critical attitude towards Andy’s professional growth made him the subject of memes and discussions on social media, reversing the original perception of him as a victim of the fashion world. Grenier himself admitted in 2021 that Nate was selfish and immature, acknowledging he failed to support his partner in her career development.

While playing coy about details around the upcoming sequel to the 2006 screen adaptation of Lauren Weisberger’s novel, Emily Blunt revealed that the followup goes into production next month, when she’ll reprise her role as Emily Charlton.

With the first film’s screenwriter Aline Bros McKenna returning to pen the sequel and Og director David Frankel expected to return as well, Blunt said of what her character’s up to, “It’s so weird, I haven’t even read a script. I don’t know. I’m just like,...

The Devil Wears Prada 2: Everything We Know So Far
Image
It's official: "The Devil Wears Prada," the beloved fashion comedy that first came out in 2006, is getting a sequel. So what do we need to know?

I'll be honest and say that, as of this writing, the details about this sequel are somewhat vague. The original was based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel of the same name, which the author says was itself based on her own personal experiences working underneath magazine maven Anna Wintour at Vogue. In 2013, Weisberger released a sequel titled "Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns," which sees the book's version of Andrea "Andy" Sachs reunite with Miranda Priestly years after working as her second assistant at the fictional publication Runway. What we do know about "The Devil Wears Prada 2," though, is that it's not set to follow the same plot as Weisberger's literary sequel.

It's not entirely surprising that we're getting a second "The Devil Wears Prada" film,...

‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ Snags “Groundbreaking” Release Date From ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Image
By all means, develop your movie at a glacial pace, Marvel. Miranda Priestly is officially taking your seat. Disney announced a major shuffle in its theatrical release slate this week, and in the process, The Devil Wears Prada 2landed a “groundbreaking” release date: May 1, 2026. That prime summer slot originally belonged to Avengers: Doomsday, but with Marvel Studios pushing both of its next Avengers blockbusters to December dates, 20th Century Studios was quick to step in with one of its biggest legacy sequels. It’s a bold — and surprisingly chic — play. For a franchise built on fashion, stepping into the biggest box office weekend of the year is no small feat. As of now, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is the only film slated to open May 1, giving Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly the runway all to herself.

Marvel Studios’ decision to delay Avengers: Doomsday from May 1 to December 18, 2026, follows what...

Gird Your Loins: ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Sets 2026 Release Date
The Devil Wears Prada (2006)
“Devil Wears Prada 2,” the sequel to the hit 2006 film starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, will officially hit theaters on May 1, 2026.

Early development for the sequel, which welcomes back producer Wendy Finerman and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, started up at 20th Century last year. As TheWrap previously reported, the story’s next chapter will see Miranda Priestly, Streep’s character in the original film, dealing with the decline of magazine publishing.

With her magazine Runway in dire need of money, Miranda must turn for advertising dollars to Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), who was consumed by stress as Miranda’s beleaguered assistant in “Devil Wears Prada,” but has now risen to become a powerful executive at a luxury brand.

Right now, there are still no details about if Streep, Blunt or Hathaway will reprise their roles, but here’s to hoping.

Based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel that in turn was...

Why Stanley Tucci Believes He’s Most Like His Character in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’
Image
Out of all the characters Stanley Tucci has played in his 40-plus years career, there’s one in particular that he relates to the most.

While making a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show to promote his new Netflix movie, The Electric State, the Oscar-nominated actor was asked by guest host Kal Penn, “Which of your characters is most like you in real life?”

He quickly answered: “Nigel in The Devil Wears Prada! He’s very stylish, and he can be a bit caustic. But he’s got a good heart.”

He playfully added, “I mean, I think I have a good heart.”

Tucci starred alongside Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in the 2006 classic as the fashion-obsessed art director at Runway magazine. Throughout the film, he takes Andy (Hathaway) under his wing and helps her navigate working as the assistant to Runway editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly (Streep.)

'That Was a Bad Call': Kate Hudson Regrets Rejecting Role in Oscar-Nominated Film 19 Years Later
Image
Many actors have reflected on the big roles they lost, whether due to scheduling or different reasons. Kate Hudson is the latest one to jump with her own story for a film she would've been perfect for.

The Oscar-nominated actress has had a series of iconic roles, but proved she was one of the most beloved rom-com actresses thanks to roles in 2003's How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, 2011's A Little Bit Like Heaven, Something Borrowed, and many others. Her impressive rom-com resume could've been even more impressive with one cult classic. In a new appearance on the Capital Breakfast radio show (via Entertainment Weekly), Hudson opened up about losing the lead character role in 2006's The Devil Wears Prada.

Why Kate Hudson Regrets Turning Down ‘Devil Wears Prada’ Role
Image
Kate Hudson still had regrets about turning down a role in The Devil Wears Prada.

The actress, who was initially asked to play Andy Sachs (which Anne Hathaway ultimately portrayed), recently said on Capital FM that she wishes she made her schedule work to star in the 2006 film, alongside Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.

“That was a bad call. And it was like a timing thing. It was one of those things where I couldn’t do it, and I should’ve made it happen, and I didn’t,” Hudson said. “That was one where when I saw it I was like, ugh. But again, everything happens for a reason. There’s a reason for that. That was a real like, ‘I should’ve made that work.'”

The Devil Wears Prada, directed by David Frankel, was adapted from Lauren Weisberger’s novel of the same name. It follows aspiring journalist Andy,...

Kate Hudson admitted on the “Capital Breakfast” radio show (via Entertainment Weekly) that turning down “The Devil Wears Prada” was “a bad call.” Before Anne Hathaway was cast as Andrea “Andy” Sachs, director David Frankel met with the likes of Hudson, Rachel McAdams, Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Kirsten Dunst.

“That was a bad call. It was a timing thing, it was one of those things where I couldn’t do it, and I should’ve made it happen, and I didn’t,” Hudson said, all these years later. “That was one where when I saw it I was like, ‘Ugh.'”

Hudson maintained that “everything happens for a reason,” but she still admitted that she “should’ve made that work.” The movie, which was a box office hit with $327 million and a two-time Oscar nominee, remains one of Hathaway’s most iconic roles.

While attending a gala performance for the West End musical version of the 2006 film, the Vogue editrix addressed comparisons between herself and the character Miranda Priestly (played by Meryl Streep) from the movie and the bestselling 2003 novel by Wintour’s former assistant Lauren Weisberger.

She told the BBC that it’s “for the audience and for the people I work with to decide if there are any similarities between me and Miranda Priestly.”

The Devil Wears Prada 2 Is Thankfully Avoiding A Meryl Streep Mistake A $402M Hit Made 6 Years Ago
Image
The Devil Wears Prada 2 will avoid sidelining Meryl Streep, unlike Mamma Mia 2. Streep's iconic role as Miranda Priestly is crucial for the sequel's success. The follow-up film will focus on Priestly's struggles to save her failing magazine, keeping her central to the plot.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is in the works, and it will avoid a mistake made by a previous Meryl Streep sequel. The Devil Wears Prada screenwriter, Aline Brosh McKenna, is set to write the sequel, and although casting details are not yet confirmed, early indications suggest that Streep will reprise her role as Miranda Priestly, Runway magazine's editor-in-chief.

In 2018, Streep returned for a different sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. However, the musical rom-com made a controversial decision to kill Streep's character, Donna Sheridan, and dramatically reduce her role. Thankfully, The Devil Wears Prada 2 appears to be taking a different approach.
