- June Brown served in the Wrens and was classically trained at the Old Vic Drama School. She enjoyed a long career in the theatre, television and the cinema. - After her mother lost a daughter at 8 and a son at 2 week s June was the eldest of 3 girls to a Mile End Road Cockney milliner mother whose husband had spent many years in the Far East as a produce buyer so the family was comfortably off with a maid but became slowly poorer after her father's unwise investments. When she was 17 June wanted to be an osteopath but her father refused to fund her claiming that her qualifications would be wasted as and when she married, Consequently she spent a year in Scotland in the Wrens based at Loch Long, After her service was over she joined the Old Vic Theatre School and over a period of years became a well, known and respected repertory actress. Her first husband gassed himself resulting in her losing a child.
