Ten years ago, actor Sean Hayes and playwright David Adjmi were working together to develop a play based on the life of Oscar Levant, the actor, pianist and notorious wit of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Now Hayes is preparing to bring Good Night, Oscar to Broadway next spring. The play is written by Doug Wright.
Exactly how, why and when Hayes and Adjmi split up their partnership on the project is being disputed by both sides in an unusually public way. Adjmi wrote a long Facebook post detailing his perspective earlier this week, as publicity for Good Night, Oscar is just beginning to emerge. Theater twitter took note, as did The New York Times.
In response, Hayes, Wright and their producer Beth Williams have released their own extensive statement, obtained by Deadline. The two accounts of exactly how Levant came into Hayes’ life are notably different.

This evening's performance of Classic Stage Company's production of Bertolt Brecht's A Man's A Man has been cancelled due to an injury last night to cast member Bill Buell Jeraiah Jip. Buell sustained a fractured ankle while off-stage early in the first act due to a mechanical malfunction involving a ballast weight for a garage door which is part of the show's set design. As there is no understudy for the role, the remainder of last evening's performance had to be cancelled as well as tonight's performance while a replacement actor is found. Csc hopes to resume performances tomorrow.

Here is the trailer and two posters for upcoming drama film The Good Heart, which stars Brian Cox (Adaptation., Troy, Zodiac, The Escapist) and Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood, Little Miss Sunshine).
Brian Cox stars as Jacques, the curmudgeonly owner of a gritty New York dive bar that serves as home to a motley assortment of professional drinkers. In the hopes of keeping his legacy alive, Jacques deems Lucas is a fitting heir and takes him under his wing, schooling him in the male—centric laws of his alcoholic clubhouse: no new customers, no fraternizing with customers and, absolutely no women. Lucas is a quick study, but their friendship is put to the test when the distraught and beautiful April (Isild Le Besco...
