Don Burke was born on 16 July 1947 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He is a writer and director, known for Backyard Blitz (2000), Breaking News (1994) and The Daryl Somers Show (1982). He has been married to Marea Burke since 28 February 1969. They have two children.

Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2010, in recognition of services to conservation and the environment through advisory roles, to the horticultural industry, and to the media as a television presenter.
